"Never one to miss an opportunity to promote her flagging merchandise business."

You'll hate all the new things I've just bought from there!

Thanks to barley for flagging this up.

I didn’t know there was a store either! Just bought 2 clothing items, a mug and a few other things. Thank you, barley, am looking forward to the new Woman - Adult Human Female hoodie in particular. It’s named in honour of Maya

I’m currently in the middle of attempting to do my assignment for my uni course, I’m studying Law.

I hate it, I really do, but then I read threads like this and realise that although law is dry and hard - it’s important. So I’m going to stop procrastinating and get on with my boring assignment, because in a few years time I should be able to use my knowledge for something good I.e fighting and protecting women’s rights

Whatthechicken · 25/01/2022 10:08

The police love using this tactic to threaten women don’t they? ‘Be good …or we’ll…or we’ll…well, you’ll just have to fret about that for months and wait and see.’

They don’t seem to use this tactic on many other demographics - just the generally law abiding ones.

Hasn't got a clue what is going to happen to her next. All she knows is that for the next month she must be 'good' and the CPS will decide if there is a case to try.

Freeformation · 25/01/2022 10:08

Message Jen or her husband through Facebook as I don't know. I was told this my someone who spoke to Jens husband directly after the search, it could be that Jen doesnt know about the book. Interestingly, he thought they had come to pick up her meds and wasnt expecting a search. I was also told that at the time Jen was arrested (at Commercial Road, Cardiff Road) there were 5 people openly dealing drugs that were completely ignored by the police. Perhaps some locals could confirm if this was accurate.

KittenKong · 25/01/2022 10:15

I saw this on twitter today and had to look it up to see if it was an actual quote from a poem. It is.

Ah! ca ira! The Majesty Of Woman!

Jennifer Swayne arrested for stickering.
Datun · 25/01/2022 10:29

The police claimed she put broken glass under the stickers????

Jesus. I had imagined this was just a routine opportunity to stick it to a woman. I hadn't grasped that they are actually fully paid up TRA foot soldiers.

You're a strong woman Jen. We are right bloody behind you. Fucking hell.

They questioned you as to who you knew?

They need to be questioned as to who they know.

SamphiretheStickerist · 25/01/2022 10:36

The more we learn about this the worse it gets. NOTHING about this can be defended.

yourhairiswinterfire · 25/01/2022 10:50

The police claimed she put broken glass under the stickers

Yeah, it looks like they fell for that bollocks. Didn't TRAs try this before? Said feminist stickers had razor blades under them and included a picture of a cut finger (and got caught out with reverse image search)?

If this was really about vandalism, the police would care about the stickers with guns threatening women, too. Seems like they've watched Jennifer on CCTV. There are TRA stickers next to hers, but they don't seem too interested in catching those threatening women, when they'll also be on CCTV.

Looks like the police are picking and choosing who to punish. Without fear or favour, eh?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 25/01/2022 10:54

Oh they appear to fear alright.

And also favour.

KittenKong · 25/01/2022 10:55

Don’t they usually say it’s blades? Who was it that posted an old photo of their hand with a cut finger on twitter, claiming that it was a new photo of their hand cut by an offending sticker? They were all lapping it up.

WarriorN · 25/01/2022 11:02

@KittenKong

I’d say it was more like sexual assault. She must have been terrified.

Officers should have been fired as a result.

I'd agree

"Cardiff-based activist who identifies as an 'artist' is offering "free trans positive stickers to anyone in Newport".

Let's have a look at some of these "trans positive" stickers.

There you go @gwentpolice. Evidence of someone encouraging 'hate aggravated vandalism'."

Freeformation · 25/01/2022 11:03

A gpnewport search on twitter is quite enlightening, the reply from MCleaver is quite interesting as the local MP shared the original gpnewport tweet about offensive postering (not alleged but offensive) and then deleted the share 6 hours later.

EmbarrassingHadrosaurus · 25/01/2022 11:10

The police make interesting choices in who they arrest.

Up until now, it's been women with young children and all the extra leverage and pressure that brings.

Now it's Jen, with several long-term health conditions.

They seem to be demonstrating that they're fearless at seeming to select women with obvious stress points because it has a powerful chilling effect.

Yet, stress points are used as a reason not to investigate or arrest some men and certainly not to give them a custodial sentence. Sometimes, because 'it would look bad' or they have 'responsibilities'.

Exactly this. If there any people who "aren't normally with this board on this", but consider themselves in any way feminist, they need to wake themselves up. Now.

severnboring · 25/01/2022 11:20

Goddess knows there is enough hyperbole out there so I hesitated to say this - but at 3:30am in these temperatures she could have died of hypothermia if her scooter had run out of charge and she couldn't get anyone to help (the latter carrying its own risks for a lone disabled woman of course).

Percyprod · 25/01/2022 11:26

Fly posting I suppose is a valid charge, otherwise she is just staring a fact, assuming her figures are right. The trouble is I suppose that this "hate crime" thing is a bit overused. She isn't saying all men are murderers. Also of course, many think they have the right to be unoffended. I don't accept that a person can change sex, it simply isn't possible, yet I have been accused of being "transphobic", a word which has been invented, changing the meaning of a " phobia". I have also been told my opinion offends trans people, but they offend me and my intelligence.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2022 11:35

It is a valid charge, and they should therefore arrest all the TRAs for it as well, if they're going to prioritise sticker crime. And everyone else who does it.

Indeed.

This disproportionate punishment of women needs some analysis through a discrimination lens.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 25/01/2022 11:43

There also needs to be some analysis of why are so many resources being used for these types of things when things like traffic policing is being cut and police won't turn up when people are burgled or assaulted.

Thelnebriati · 25/01/2022 11:44

I hope the police are open to the possibility that the person who reported the poster could be the person who put glass behind it.

OP posts:
Freeformation · 25/01/2022 11:56

To be clear about one thing. Jen has severe arthritis and is incapable of manipulating small objects, so this nonsense about glass can be easily shut down. Even the stickering is painful for her, so the fingerprinting must have also been an ordeal. Given that the Chief Constable has publicly doubled down by insinuating that there is more about this than meets the eye, people need to be vigilant. I would guess that you could see all of Jen's stickers on her facebook page, she is pretty transparent about what she does.

If they did it in broad daylight in full view of the police they would. Most fly poster crews are not that daft however.
