LGBT+ Police Network Wales survey: total gender ideology

Pluvia · 14/01/2022 14:46

I've been forwarded this survey intended for LGBT+ people in Wales

www.smartsurvey.co.uk/thankyou

I've filled it in making it perfectly clear that I'm a gender atheist, I don't have a gender, I don't support gender ideology and that I don't regard LGB as having anything to do with TQ+. It seems clear to me that they are taking a highly politicised position.

If anyone else wants to fill it in all you need to give is the first four letters of a Welsh postcode.

I've sent a copy to Fair Cop. Is there any other organisation that might want to take this up?

@Pluvia

A friend of mine here in Wales has reminded me about the Welsh language requirement. It's law here in Wales that major organisations have to put all their public information out in Welsh as well as English. We presume that applies to the police — so they've broken the law on that.
I think this is where you can make a complaint about the lack of a Welsh language version.

www.welshlanguagecommissioner.wales/your-rights/make-a-complaint

It says you have to be directly affected, so you would have to be a Welsh speaker.

It's such a shame that The Bill no longer runs. I'd like to see Polly, Dave and Reg on the case.

Waitwhat23 · 15/01/2022 10:16

'The scale and secrecy of Welsh police force misconduct has been revealed for the first time in an investigation byThe National.

Our analysis shows that a disturbing proportion of recent police force dismissals related to significant abuses of power, physical violence and sex offences – and demonstrated a concerning lack of transparency.

These findings come in the wake of UK-wide revelations about police misconduct that have shaken public trust in forces, and raised questions about institutional misogyny.'

Datun · 15/01/2022 10:32

For god's sake! What they should have said is thank you for your concern. Our survey is open to anyone with an interest in the issue, as we want to hear from a diverse range of views.

Jeez.

I loved the bill. They did a better job of policing than the actual police. Maybe they could run training sessions to the current police force. Grin

@FrancescaContini

Do complete the survey - I enjoyed it. Unfortunately I was unable to ask for explanation of their question “Does your gender match the sex you were given at birth?” I have yet to find a satisfactory answer to what this means.
I answered it by saying (not exact words) but how can I answer a question about something that doesn’t exist
EeeICouldRipATissue · 15/01/2022 10:58

Just looked at that tweet.
The tweeter has a point though - it is spam and trolling the survey though.
What else is stuff along the lines of ' I have a Leek in the fridge, that makes me Welsh!''
Etc Hmm
I'm straight and live nowhere near Wales, what gives me the right to fill in and skew the survey?
It's ridiculous.
Sometimes it's not always about me, or you.
It smacks a bit of '' wah, I want to be included too, anything I don't understand is a load of rubbish! "" Hmm

KittenKong · 15/01/2022 11:00

So you are saying they’re aren’t any gay welsh food here?

EeeICouldRipATissue · 15/01/2022 11:01

Giving out a Welsh postcode for the thread shows people wanting anyone to fill it in, regardless where abouts in the world they are.

You miss the point. Mockery or childish responses to a survey are not a police matter. There should be no suggestion that anyone who engages in mockery or childish responses should find themselves investigated for a criminal offence.

If the police don't wish to be mocked then they should not be quite so determined to act absurdly. Mocking responses to such a survey are equally valid as deeply sincere ones. Each response tells a story.

EeeICouldRipATissue · 15/01/2022 11:01

Hmm
HaroldMeeker · 15/01/2022 11:05

To be fair, the questions are utterly gobbledegook anyway. I see sbsolutely no useful information being extrapolated from the information garnered. It's just babble. Wtf was the point? It wouldn't surprise me to find it was written by a 16 year old on work experience.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 15/01/2022 11:09

I for one I’m completely convinced that TRA have never & do never encourage ppl to complete surveys with approved right think in areas they don’t live in Hmm

People… food was a odd autocorrect…
DialSquare · 15/01/2022 11:16

I'm glad your cleared that up kitten. I'm a big foodie and thought I'd missed something!

NotBadConsidering · 15/01/2022 11:19

To be fair, the questions are utterly gobbledegook anyway.

Exactly.

“How would you describe your gender?”

Vaguely?

“Assigned at birth”

Fuck off.

“What pronouns do you use?”

All of them: personal, demonstrative, indefinite, relative…etc etc depending on the conversation.

“What is your sexual orientation ?”

Asexual and pansexual? Where are they in the Equality Act then? Hmm

“Have you ever been the victim of a hate crime?”

How likely is it that people will record actual crimes that have been definitively motivated by hate? Or will people record their perceived “non-crime hate incident”, because the two have been conflated? Such a sneaky question.

It’s just poor quality more than anything else.

I ask this seriously - why if saying 'I identify as a woman' makes a man a woman rather than trolling women does not the same apply to other criteria?

The survey doesn't say you have to be Welsh or live in Wales or that you have to be LGB or TQ+ to participate. In fact it invites everyone to participate and as you can see from the survey, it has a heterosexual option.

It's a ridiculous virtue-signalling, tick-box exercise with no rigour or academic of statistical merit, pulled together by a team who assume that everyone subscribes to gender ideology (as they clearly do — and shouldn't).

It's the equivalent of launching a survey about religion and assuming that everyone is Christian, or about race and assuming everyone is black. It deserves ridicule and scrutiny.

Ha ha, I've done it twice. Once as me, once as my L-leaning teen. Both of us GC.

@EeeICouldRipATissue

The original tweet says the survey is open to anyone.

It does not specify that you must be resident in Wales. Either on the tweet or on the landing page for the survey.

It is perfectly valid to use a Welsh postcode to access the survey if you are concerned by the issues encountered by LGBTQ+ community in Wales.

I am concerned and answered the survey in good faith.

Are you saying that because I live across the border in England, but regularly travel within Wales for work and social reasons that I am not allowed to participate? There is potential for me, my colleagues, and friends and family to be directly affected by the outcome of this survey and any recommendations drawn from it. I'm very concerned by your attitude around silencing women.

I'm also concerned by your inability to detect sarcasm. 🙄

CuriousaboutSamphire · 15/01/2022 11:29

I may have laboured the point that they allowed me space to identify as I chose in all but the age question. Called them ageist.

I also told them that as someone without gender belief I had no way of honestly answering Q3.

Twas a depressingly badly written set of questions.

Artichokeleaves · 15/01/2022 11:38

I hope the police department responsible for this mess of a survey do come and read this thread.

They won't find hate. They will find a lot of reason to worry about the general public starting to perceive them as politically captured, and fast losing respect and credibility as a result. And possibly they'll still have enough grip left to think about whether this is a good thing, or something they should urgently try sorting out.

Because being a muppet while shouting right side of history does not make you any less of a muppet.

MrBIobby · 15/01/2022 11:41

That police department needs investigating for allowing members of the public to use them as their long arm security to silence wrong think. Please report yourselves for investigation.

Terfydactyl · 15/01/2022 11:47

@HaroldMeeker

Police are monitoring this board??

Yoohoo! Hello boys!

🤣

FWIW my maiden name is Welsh so there must be some Welsh in me somewhere. That definitely counts and to PP who has daffodils emerging. How? It's about 4 degrees here and far to early for daffs.

HaroldMeeker · 15/01/2022 11:52

Our daffs are mere green stumpy fingers thrusting out of the ground at present. The snowdrops, otoh, are well out and shouting "nah nah, beat ya" at them.
