FWR (as I still think of it) is a very important corner of the Internet.

I read here almost daily, and the amount of information here is incredible - evidence, links to articles, tweets, feminist analysis, philosophical conversations, academic studies, court cases, judicial reviews, updates on previous cases... the list goes on and on. Personally it takes me time to keep up, let alone feel brave enough to comment Smile

At this time of the year, especially, I just thought it would be nice to create a little thread to say thank you to all the regular contributers from the ones like me, who read but rarely post. Thanks for the information, the wisdom, the challenging discussions and all the lovely dinosaur names!

Hopefully some more lurkers will join me so I'm not left languishing on this thread alone!

Thanks All, and lang may yer lum reek! Xmas Smile

Thank you from me too. I have learnt so much from you and in turn am spreading the word and gardening like a nutcase. I’m so glad I found this board. (I found it due to stroppy messages in AIBU suggesting people piss off to the FWR boards. So I did and found such a wealth of knowledge it completely changed my perspective. You could say I educated myself!)

elgreco · 23/12/2021 08:33

Thanks.

Yewtown · 23/12/2021 08:44

Merry Christmas and a big thank you for shining a light on this very important issue.

plus3 · 23/12/2021 08:45

Yet another lurker here saying a huge Thank you & Merry Christmas 🎄
This board is mostly all I read now on MN & I hugely appreciate the intelligence & thoughtfully articulate posts. It is helping me to gently steer my DD (15)
I especially want to thank @Datun - your clear sighted words should be available to all.

Lyonesse2020 · 23/12/2021 09:05

Yes, thank you all.

SeaRabbit · 23/12/2021 09:09

Another mostly lurker here checking in to thank all the posters who keep me informed, and who remind me that I am not alone.

Puddycatfan · 23/12/2021 09:15

This thread is a great idea!

I too would like to express my gratitude. I have learned so much and each day I get a little braver.

Thank you

RobinPenguins · 23/12/2021 09:18

Another grateful lurker here! I’ve learned a lot, and been able to have some real life conversations as a result.

QuestionNumberOne · 23/12/2021 09:19

The courage, clear thinking and straight talking of posters on this board give me hope and a sense of camaraderie amidst the queasy oppressive unthink of gender ideology going on all around us.

Thank you! And merry Christmas AHFs Xmas Smile

motherofthelittlescreamingone · 23/12/2021 09:21

Yes, thank you very much.

NoNotMeNoSiree · 23/12/2021 09:27

tim I'm not a trans rights activist Confused
Or is that just what we call everyone now who isn't '' gender critical '' on here?!

Phobiaphobic · 23/12/2021 09:28

@notaclownfish

Thank you! At times this year I have felt like I was losing my mind, and I would come here and be reassured that I was not alone, not crazy, and that the emperor is in fact stark bollock naked.
Yes, exactly this. Without this board I would have gone crazy.
CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 23/12/2021 09:29

Another one adding their thanks. I'm a mostly lurker, sometimes poster. But tend to get emotional and incoherent so probably not a lot of use. Blush

mibbelucieachwell · 23/12/2021 09:29

Yet another grateful lurker here in Glasgowshire.

Thank you FWR regular posters.

I dip in and out of these boards, (have recently been frequenting some scotsnet threads) so she might be someone who's already well known here, but for anyone who hasn't heard of her I'd like to recommend Dr Jessica Taylor for her revolutionary approach to supporting women.

BorisKilledMyHusband · 23/12/2021 09:32

Thanks from an occasional lurker. 💐

PamDenick · 23/12/2021 09:33

Yes. Thank you.

RayonVert · 23/12/2021 09:36

Serial lurker here who hasn't posted in years, name changed and logged back in to add my name to this thread - thank you.

Because of you I felt brave enough to remove one of my children from a an Educate & Celebrate course being run at their primary school. It was absolutely the right thing to do.

RosieTheHat · 23/12/2021 09:41

Joining the lurkers. Thanks to all you brave people!

dexterfletcher · 23/12/2021 09:42

Thank you from me too. I came for AIBU and stayed for FWR. I never post but read almost every day. I’m a counselling student and I can’t tell you how much this board has helped my critical thinking and my counselling practice. The posts about the rape crisis centres were particularly formative for me.

Diverze · 23/12/2021 09:46

Yup, lurked on FWR since the incident with Maria M at speaker's corner - was that late 2017? Have gradually raised questions at my work (education) over the years - and made people think more carefully about the safeguarding nuances in this area, thanks to you guys.

Tanyaexoticsexgoddess · 23/12/2021 09:50

Thank you from a regular name changing, occasional poster. The sheer amount of information on these boards is astounding, and so important.

I do always appreciate the alternative view as well as a PP, but for me they always highlight the lack of substance in the argument (to put it politely). If we could read the same robust information from TRAs.....

I donate to Sex Matters thanks to this board and am becoming braver in public discourse. I did also have a nice moment from my DH last night - he has a group of friends who live local to the man who sexually abused a dog. They shared the news report on their WhatsApp group and my DH commented 'the Mrs will be up in arms that this is being recorded as a female crime....'. I was so pleased that a) he got it before I had to explain and b) shared that with a group of men who it probably wouldn't have occurred too. As PPs, I too have spoken probably not to eloquently about this at times, as my opinions were forming, so it's good to know I'm getting the important messages out there!

AutumnSquill · 23/12/2021 09:53

Another (mainly) lurker here too, saying thank you to all who contribute so much. I've learned a lot from so many brave and knowledgeable women. And I've also seen and learned from the posters who suddenly appear and try to stand up for the trans rights activists only to run away or attempt to derail when challenged with simple questions, facts and statistics.

debwong · 23/12/2021 09:55

Hear hear.

WarriorN · 23/12/2021 09:55

Wow, it's heartening to learn some of you have done full 180s

Cheers vipers! Wine

penguinperson · 23/12/2021 09:57

Lurker since 2018; this is my first post. Found here after wondering why sexist stereotypes seemed to be such a feature, how Caitlin Jenner could possibly be Woman of the Year, and wondering what on earth the "cotton ceiling" was.

A wholehearted "Thank you" from me to everyone on this board; you have all helped me to educate myself.

A very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Xmas Smile
