If a general election was called, who would you vote for?

Or really, who can I vote for? I don’t want to vote Tory, especially after today’s revelations. I also don’t feel happy voting Labour or Green, for reasons often discussed on this board. Is there a party you’d feel happy to vote to be in power if you had a chance to, say, tomorrow? Feeling pretty despondent

I don't know. Women seem as likely if not more so to push identity politics and gender ideology.

BoudecaBains · 08/12/2021 02:44

@XDownwiththissortofthingX

"hard left" Grin

Who are they then?

The nasty party !.
CheeseMmmm · 08/12/2021 03:13

@LobsterNapkin

I don't know. Women seem as likely if not more so to push identity politics and gender ideology.
Do they?

Expulsion from labour over this. Plenty of women. Maybe a few men can't remember been going on for ages now. But certainly plenty of women.

Online majority of those arguing for sex> gender are women.
While a lot of the men saying stfu are men with zero skin in the game.

Of course online not real life.
In real life-

When it's come up (not introduced by me!) the women have either been not aware of facts however plenty have been and they were angry, outraged.

Men either don't know anything, some know a bit, some all about it. The ones who knew all about it had been told by female partners who were livid and talking about it at home.

Also blokes talking in pub. Usually taking piss out of language etc. All ones I've heard think it's ridiculous. Jokes yes. Often not nice jokes. Definitely not ever talking about it other than passing comment for amusement of mates.

The men have across the board, whether at work serious it's terrible, or just think ridiculous, or whatever.
They aren't angry. Not like so many women are. They see it as a women's thing. Not for them to get involved past saying awful. For women to act on.

And they've got no skin in the game have they. None of this affects them.
Even when it comes to concern for female family. With any risk from men that could impact women they love. Their default is to try to protect their own. Often by insisting on cab home/ I'll walk and fetch you/ etc etc.

Plus.

The court cases. Have been mainly women who are sex> gender. And men gender > sex. And the dynamic of who brought to court and why totally different.

I'm going to court massive work discrimination / there were ribbons....

CheeseMmmm · 08/12/2021 03:18

Of course plenty men nice and plenty women awful.

Plenty women seem to work against women and some men work for women and other groups who get shit.

In the end though. On this. No way at population level.

  1. Is gender > sex anything but a very very niche view
  2. Men think nonsense and understand why no good for women/girls. Because it's bloody obvious. But population level. Not really anything to do with them.
Women are ANGRY. Totally aghast at what happened and happening.
CheeseMmmm · 08/12/2021 03:23

Anyway you've pulled me off the point!

This is about voting in GE.

I quite clearly said. Read the blurb about the candidates. Have a Google. If have voting record take s look.

Remember primarily about constituency do you agree with their priorities etc on that.

Having done the reading, and excluded the ones you won't vote for. Left with more than one option. If there is one, pick the woman.

It's a SUGGESTION! Not an order!

And I also clearly said if the woman has views you feel are awful. Then obviously. Don't vote for her.

CheeseMmmm · 08/12/2021 03:25

And I know it's important to point out that women are, well. Often really awful.

But having answered your v short comment, at some length.

I realised that your comment was totally unrelated to my actual posts. This is general election thing. MPs. Individuals up for election in specific areas.

JustSpeculation · 08/12/2021 03:30

In very blunt terms, the Tories are greedy, corrupt and incompetent. But Labour are cowards and bullies, and that's worse. Navel gazing delusionals to boot. If there were more Rosie Duffields I could vote Labour.

But there aren't.

And the fringe parties are fringier than they've been for decades.

So, Tory, if there was a general election tomorrow. Locally, I could still vote Lib dem.

Gingercake2018 · 08/12/2021 03:39

I'm in a plaid stronghold, therefore I'd vote conservative as a protest vote against gender ideology. If I lived somewhere where my vote might actually count I'd have to think harder on my decision.

Bogeyes · 08/12/2021 04:03

They are all crooks and liars

PieMistee · 08/12/2021 04:31

I could never vote for the Tory party after what they have done.

normanthegonk · 08/12/2021 06:52

SDP

rrhuth · 08/12/2021 07:00

I'd vote for whoever could beat the Tory if it were marginal, and whoever I fancied if it were not.

BusBusBus · 08/12/2021 07:15

I'd vote for who ever was most likely to get our local tory out. I live in a very safe seat so o dont think it will help.
I care about the big women issue but it amazes how people but arent fussed about how the government are trying to erode one of the main checks and balances against them, like judicial review and even protests for that matter. Being dramatic we are slowly sliding into a fascists state where they dont even want judges to point out if they do something illegal. And i cant see that a facist state has been good for women either.

Blessex · 08/12/2021 07:16

Voted Labour all my life. Next time Tory. No question. Whatever I think on other issues, sex and gender is just too important at this moment.

TheBeardedVulture · 08/12/2021 07:19

I’d spoil my ballot, we have an absolutely awful Labour MP who is very much an enthusiastic TWAW advocate and outright refuses to listen to women or take on board our concerns. He’s the Ur-white beardy bloke.

rrhuth · 08/12/2021 07:19

@BusBusBus I agree I am also concerned at removal of right to protest, human rights and judicial review.

SSOYS · 08/12/2021 07:24

Labour with a heavy heart. My suspicion is that, once faced with actually implementing their policies in gender, they’ll see what the issues are.

Anything to get the current government out.

ScreamingMeMe · 08/12/2021 07:34

I'd have to spoil my ballot. Again.

I'm not happy doing it, but I really feel I have no other choice.

FlipFlops4Me · 08/12/2021 07:37

@FindingMeno

So long as I have a gasp of breath in my body I will never vote Tory. I usually work on the basis of which party is most likely to keep them out. Starmer doesn't appeal to me at all though and I'm thoroughly pissed off with the Labour Party since their determination to sink Corbyn and proper socialist values. After Clegg snuggling up with Cameron I'll not be voting yellow, so I guess it'll be Green and maybe they'll get to keep their deposit. It's a depressing shitshow.
This.

Couldn't be more pissed off with the whole lot of them.

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 08/12/2021 08:42

@MrsElijahMikaelson1

My area is such a stronghold for one major party I’m completely disillusioned with it and my vote would literally have zero impact.
This basically

I will probably vote for an independent candidate depending on their views

I’d deffo look at the communist party if they stand…but I don’t think they did last time

Andante57 · 08/12/2021 08:46

@TreborBore

If Tory is your idea of the best then you have extremely low standards.
So voting Tory is unacceptable, but you have no problems with posters who are voting communist?
Insertdeadcatsnamehere · 08/12/2021 08:47

Very safe Labour seat, I spoilt my ballot last time. Not sure what I'd do if it was more marginal, our Labour candidate is possibly more sensible than some of his local colleagues who have been very vocal that they think TWAW. I'd be amazed if he did think that but he's kept his seat for about 20 years by remaining silent and largely absent from his constituency so I don't think he's about to start doing anything different now. Sod the lot of them.

I've spoiled my ballot over the past couple of elections. Manifesto commitments from Labour, Lib Dem and Greens would implement self-id. I am not convinced that Tory's are committed to women's rights. There seems to be a lot of confusion and where there's confusion, it usually signals a 'what can we get away with, where are the voters on this' which isn't really what I'm after.

Someone noted that there has been a lot more coverage and that coverage may eventually have the 'progressives' asking whether their policies really are progressive. Still plenty of time for that debate I hope because right now I'm still in the spoiled ballot area. I usually write something, not just a scribble. Mine is a safe Tory seat btw which makes a difference
