So, that is it. They have decided that an unsuitable leader is more acceptable than a court case about that person's inclusion.

I won't be sending my teen to any level of GG's again.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 16/12/2021 18:41

I will admit I did reply:

So, that's it? Be quiet woman, we have spoken?

You will regret this. One day, in the not to distant future, your lack of safeguarding will destroy what used to be a wonderful and supportive space for young women to grow up in.

Shame on you, one and all!

And they were telling the truth, I've had no more replies 😁

I imagine they've rolled their eyes, had a quiet word with senior staff to be a bit careful what they post on social media and that's about the end of it.

In most places someone wearing a leather dress and making a bit of a joke on a social media page unconnected with their work is not the great career ending horror that some people seem to believe it should be.

Helleofabore · 16/12/2021 19:01

barley

Which is it?

A bit of a joke?

Or a fetish and kink that everyone is doing?

You remain inconsistent in most things you post, except for not actually answering the questions posed to you (despite people answering you questions) and showing how little you either know or care about safeguarding children.

fairynick · 16/12/2021 19:07

What’s wrong with being into BDSM?
I am, and have worked with children in different scenarios.

Mrsmorton · 16/12/2021 19:12

Do you share it with the children in any way @fairynick

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 16/12/2021 19:14

Do you post pictures of yourself with suggestive captions in your BDSM gear?

It's not the link that's the issue

It's the lack of self awareness and the total disregard of all safeguarding that is the issue.

Remember safeguarding protects the staff member and the organisation as much as the user group.

If you are so blind to that that you think posting such pictures us just fine and dandy then yes, you too would have, would be a problem to your employer

MrsOvertonsWindow · 16/12/2021 19:18

It's very telling when a new poster spends so much time talking about the needs of adults to share their kinks and fetishes, ignoring all questions about safeguarding, adults as role models for children and the impact on children. Hmm

TurquoiseBaubles · 16/12/2021 19:39

Thanks to barleybadminton and her "most people have a fetish, it's perfectly normal" I've only just discovered what frotteurism is Shock

As far as I'm concerned anyone who has practiced frotteurism even once is a sexual abuser and shouldn't be allowed to work with children - or vulnerable adults, or even (if I had my way) travel on public transport or go into a crowded place.

Rubbing one's genitals up against an unconsenting person in a sexual manner isn't a fetish. It's a crime.

Obviously it isn't about what you do in your private sex life.

It's about whether you have appropriate boundaries and follow the rules of your workplace, so there are not pictures all over the internet freely available to kids and parents of you engaged in showing off the exotic bits of your sex life.

Of course it is as well it should be. But there is a difference between fantasy and reality and I suspect most people who reported they fantasised about it imagined it happening to them, not doing it to someone else. And that doesn't mean they actually want it to happen, there is a difference between sexual fantasies and reality and most people seem to understand that quite well.
barleybadminton · 16/12/2021 20:31

According to some posters it very much is.

Artichokeleaves · 16/12/2021 20:43

That would probably be that thing called diversity of opinion. But the issue was the very inappropriate social media.

Absolute rubbish! It's about what you choose to splash across the Internet ! Private sex life is one thing , public exhibitionism is something else!

OldCrone · 16/12/2021 21:01

Just to be clear. You think there are women who fantasise about having a strange man rub his genitals against them while they're travelling on the tube?

I think there are people who fantasise about all kinds of things. It doesn't mean they want them to happen in real life. There is a chart here which shows the prevalence of women's sexual fantasies: www.businessinsider.com/what-women-fantasize-about-2014-11?r=US&IR=T

So, your a queer theorist now barley after telling us it had nothing to do with queer theory before?

So, therefore maybe you can answer the question:

Why is destabilising boundaries as advocated by Queer Theorists of benefit to Girl Guides? Why on earth the destabilisation of boundaries of any sort that involved Foucault is of benefit to Girl Guides?

334bu · 16/12/2021 21:14

I think there are people who fantasise about all kinds of things. It doesn't mean they want them to happen in real life. There is a chart here which shows the prevalence of women's sexual fantasies:

This has hee haw to do with an individual who , while holding a position of responsibility for minor girls, chooses to indulge their exhibitionism all over the Internet.

Helleofabore · 16/12/2021 21:14

And that should be 'you are' not your.

BigGreenOlives · 16/12/2021 21:18

I wasn’t allowed to volunteer at my son’s school but his form teacher went to prison for having photos of young boys on his work computer (he got caught when it had a problem so the IT dept had a look at it). Please don’t tell me safeguarding doesn’t matter.

barleybadminton · 16/12/2021 21:18

It's hardly exhibitionism, she's wearing a slightly kinky dress, you'd see people in more fetishistic outfits than that walking through Camden Market.
OldCrone · 16/12/2021 21:19

I do wonder what proportion of women actually fantasise about being sexually assaulted. Do you have a link to a published paper about that?

BigGreenOlives · 16/12/2021 21:19

Sorry could only volunteer with a DBS, which I got.
