Not sure if it's anywhere else, but according Guido Fawkes, a Labour member has been suspended for saying on Facebook that only women go through the menopause.

Sounds as if a journalist phoned Labour Party HQ for a quote and the message went down to the local branch telling them to reverse their decision.

Mrs House, what does your husband intend to do? It is clearly very toxic, yet he now has the advantage that he is in a good position to speak out from within in support of Rosie Duffield.

TheMenopausalMrsHouse · 20/11/2021 11:20

@Needmoresleep absolutely this is what would have happened.

At the moment he says he is angrier about the second letter than the first, he is disappointed that they think they can act like nothing has happened, and torn about what to do next. We think that his vocal support for Rosie from within the party made him a marked man.

Labour has not won an election since 2005 and it is not surprising if they carry on doing this. the fact NQ then ordered the decision reversed to avoid bad publicity which might affect the 50% of the UK who are female is still not good enough. It should not have happened in the first place.

I know I was probably Mrs May's only UK supporter at the time of her premiership but she DID stop the then Tory plans to amend the gender change laws and a few other good things.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/11/2021 11:47

An "admin error" Grin

Presumably we can now look forward to Starmer's instructions to women not to talk about our cervixes, Lammy's directions to the nation on cervix growing for men and Nandy's enthusiasm for the rights of rapists and sex offenders to be housed in prisons alongside women to to be redefined as "admin errors" ???

This could be their collective reverse ferret moment.

Did she? Do you have any quotes. I would love to know who it was in the Tory Party who realised what was really at stake. I thought it was all going ahead and Johnson stopped it (sure he knows what a biological woman is). I was disappointed that Theresa May didn't stop it, I would have not expected her to have any truck with gender identity ideology. I am truly shocked by Stonewall's incursion into all aspects of our lives and the threat to democracy it poses.

Too little too late....
KittenKong · 20/11/2021 14:59

Have they actually explained what the ‘admin error’ is because surely that would mean getting someone’s name wrong or an incorrect date... not complete arse about face.

I thought it was Theresa May who was keen to pursue self ID?

Biggest admin error in the herstory of womankind.

'Transwomen are women? That was a typo!'

They sneezed and their fingers typed out their inner-essence-thoughts?

RedCarpetRebellion · 20/11/2021 15:42

And a second sneeze pressed send.

worthyofsupport · 20/11/2021 16:37

As far as I can see it was Liz Truss who announced it had been dropped in September 2020 so just before Johnson's 80 seat majority in December 2020 - he had taken over as PM in July 2019. So Mrs May was effectively out of the picture.

MagpiePi · 20/11/2021 17:13

@HerewardTheWoke

At work last month there was a message on the front page of our intranet about Menopause Day - without any mention whatsoever of the words 'woman' or 'female'.

Apparently 51% of the population are affected by it, but who exactly is a complete mystery!

I joke but I was genuinely upset to see an example of this in real life for the first time. How dare my employer treat 'woman' and 'female' as dirty words.

According to my employer menopause does affect everybody and so obviously we can't have the focus on women, because 'aww, poor men, not being centred'

Didn't you realise that being a man and working alongside or living with a woman going through menopause is pretty much the same as going through it yourself?

Hmm Grin

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/11/2021 17:37

It's so typical that instead of issuing a gracious apology:
"Sorry - this shouldn't have happened, someone got carried away, we've spoken to them. We apologise for the offence caused" All those things we teach children about how to correct a wrong.
Yet all this shower can manage is "admin error" - just so that they don't have to do the decent thing and actually say sorry. Toddlers should not be running any part of the labour party.

MrsOvertonsWindow · 20/11/2021 17:38

And my apologies to toddlers for comparing them to labour party activists.

Sounds like the locals got carried away.well done to hubby for standing his ground.

I think they are doing this because they haven’t won an election since 2005, and therefore haven’t been concerned with drawing up legislation for more than a decade.

I don’t think the Conservatives stepped back from the brink because they are concerned about women, I think they looked at the implications of the proposed legislation and didn’t want to be responsible.

Labour are living in an alternative reality where this is all about American legislation on access to ‘bathrooms’ and nobody has to think about prisons.

Manderleyagain · 21/11/2021 16:31

Mrs House, I saw on twitter that someone suggested he do a subject access request. That should reveal what was said by email etc on the decision to suspend, and then the decision to unsuspend. It might be that he doesn't want to completely annoy and fall out with the branch, but I hope he gives it some thought because I'm sure it would be really interesting. And we all need (in all our different parties and orgsisations) to reach a point where people stop trying to just make opinions that are inconvenient to them disappear, by ostracising and forcing out. This can go nowhere good and really has to stop.

Helleofabore · 22/11/2021 10:57

Although it is a different party, this caught my eye as being relevant to this thread. And for your husband TheMenopausalmrsHouse.
