The replies are interesting.

Personally I like pansexual as a concept. I like that people are attracted to others regardless of how they identify. Why shut yourself off from a group?

I still don’t understand how it’s different from bisexual though.

The only way they can make this work as a definition is to substitute gender for sex. Which is ridiculous- sex is part of the word!

allmywhat · 14/11/2021 11:13

I am not attracted to people who “identify” as otherkin bc it’s nonsense, but I am fine with non-binary identity.

I enjoyed this reply. Grin

Maybe I'm old but surely bisexual covers all bases? However a person presents or identifies when it comes to the nitty gritty we're all either male or female.

Datun · 14/11/2021 11:19

How does bisexual mean you're attracted to more than one gender?? It means you're attracted to both sexes. You might only be attracted to masculine people of either sex. So that's one gender.

Nuffaluff · 14/11/2021 11:19

The video changes the meaning of the word ‘bisexual’ to being attracted to many genders.
It ignores the roots of the word ‘bi’ and ‘sexual’ which refers to the fact that there are two sexes.
Trying to shoehorn bisexuality into gender theory renders the word meaningless.
The woman in the video doesn’t speak for me. I’m not attracted to ‘gender’. What would that even mean? That I’m attracted to gender stereotypes? I really am not.

Zerogravity · 14/11/2021 11:20

@TheWeeDonkey Exactly- but that's considered transphobic these days!

Datun · 14/11/2021 11:30

To me, the meaning of pansexual means you are bisexual and you agree with transgenderism.

BloodinGutters · 14/11/2021 11:35

SEXuality relates to which sex a person is attracted to.

There are two sexes. So it’s opposite, same or both sex attracted.

Pansexual is a meaningless term unless you buy into gender ideology. It’s meant to obfuscate. No one faces discrimination based on their pansexuality, it’s covered under bisexual being a protected characteristic under the equality act. Pansexual describes a sexual preference not orientation and isn’t highly offensive to imply it’s the same thing, which gender ideology does imply.

It’s paving the way for all the other ‘sexualities’ under the lgbt+ alphabet to become legal characteristics.

BloodinGutters · 14/11/2021 11:41

*it’s

highame · 14/11/2021 11:45

It’s paving the way for all the other ‘sexualities’ under the lgbt+ alphabet to become legal characteristics. I assume it's a good way of including all the fetishists. If we thought Trans was removed from LGB, wait and see what this brings forth

nauticant · 14/11/2021 11:45

Can a heterosexual or a homosexual be pansexual? Or is it only bisexuals who can be pansexual?

Stiffcondomhat · 14/11/2021 11:47

In the words of Catherine tates Nan: what a load of absolute shit.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 14/11/2021 11:48

Attraction isn't about identity though. There are two sexes and if you're attracted to people of both sexes then you're bisexual.
The identity stuff is personality. There is no need for a sexuality to describe attraction to differing personality types.

Datun · 14/11/2021 11:50

That's a good question.

I'd agree.

So much of this seems purely to show if you are on the right-thinking-holy -blessed-by-the-angels genderist "side" or the evil-fascist-terf-bigots-"side".

Datun · 14/11/2021 11:51

What group? One you're not attracted to?

TeamRex · 14/11/2021 11:54

And the reason she is redefining bisexual to mean attracted to at least 2 genders is that otherwise bisexual people implicitly don't believe transgender ideology and are thus transphobic.

They need to redefine the L G and B to be about attraction to genders otherwise the T has nothing to attach itself to.

nauticant · 14/11/2021 11:55

I think that a heterosexual or a homosexual can be pansexual. That's because pansexual is simply one of those identities that people can opt into or opt out of, mainly for the purposes of group belonging.

As Datun wrote, the key thing about being pansexual is a display of agreeing with transgenderism.

Artichokeleaves · 14/11/2021 12:02

It's largely about stuffing everyone forcibly into boxes labelled 'compliant with this political agenda'.

Yeah, no.

Someone needs to warn the person declining to sleep with otherkin that being a nonsensephobe is now probably a crime in Scotland.

ClaudiusTheGod · 14/11/2021 12:42

What’s ‘otherkin’?

And what’s the one where people wear prosthetic ear extensions that look like elves’ ears?

Trying to keep up but failing …

Courtier · 14/11/2021 13:05

I'm bisexual. I am attracted to natal men and natal women. I'm not attracted to non-binary, trans or otherwise gender fluid etc individuals.

I'm quite literally very binary in my attraction - masculine men and feminine women. I respect everyone but that's just what I fancy.

So I'm not pansexual. I'm not attracted to anyone regardless of gender or gender expression. I like natal men and I like natal women. That's it.

EyesOpening · 14/11/2021 13:07

Doesn’t pan mean all, would therefore the converse (?) be “monogender”? Confused

Courtier · 14/11/2021 13:08

Even if that gets me some hate I can't help what I find attractive any more than straight or gay people can.

Courtier · 14/11/2021 13:09

Genuine question.

Let’s say you got chatting to someone that you ‘read’ as a gay woman. You got on great and you were attracted to her. But you then found out that she identified as male. Would that change things for you?

Please understand this is a genuine question. I’m not trying to catch you out or anything like that.
