Emma Barnett is asking the questions.

The way things are going the Stonewall story could still be active as the hearing approaches. A lot of journalists are now primed to pick up on a very juicy addition to the unfolding saga. It wasn't supposed to be like that.

Someone on another thread was asking for material about Stonewall as negative stuff tended to be deboosted by Google. I suggested searching by Mailonline Stonewall, as they have been good at reporting various news stories and court cases and don't use a paywall. The search results are extraordinary. A story every 2/3 days. The BBC, the FCA, the FCDO, and and and. Maya and the other brave people taking them to court.

My guess is that over the past few years the Mail, like MN, has had plenty of complaints about "transphobia" with efforts to curb their reporting. its push back time. I don't think they will stop until there is a major roll back. The Mail will be motivated by freedom of press concerns, but they will also see that this issue resonates with their own readership.

Oh. Sorry, Needmoresleep, I probably didn't make myself clear on this. I didn't mean to barrack the Mailonline about this piece (Though maybe it's a little less precise than I'd like?), they have done a sterling job, as you point out, of keeping this issue in the public for a good few years now. I just wanted to make a note of the fragrant Mr. Hunte's involvement in the unlikely event that no-one else had noted it..

Needmoresleep · 12/11/2021 14:36

Sorry, I was replying to nauticant, but got interrupted so posted quite late.

My point was only that the search is really worth doing, just to see how many stories there are. No judgement on the Mail as a source, other than to acknowledge that their reporting on this issue has been good, regular and consistent. The pressure on Stonewall is in so many directions. And the pressure on organisations still signed up to Stonewall must be increasing. I am hoping that corporations like Barclays, who happily jumped onto the Pride bandwagon with all sorts of rainbow symbols, will start to realise, that though people support equality, knee jerk virtue signalling is not buying them the brand enhancement they were hoping for.

From the telegraph article.

The outcome remains uncertain. In future, this moment may be seen as the beginning of a righteous movement which opened society’s eyes to obvious injustice. But it may be regarded as an astonishing yet mercifully fleeting aberration, a period when, gripped by some delusion, we came to view gender not as objective biological reality but as subjective spectrum.

They mean sex of course, not gender. But either way, they need to start talking about gender as a series of sex role stereotypes. And how they play into things like AGP.

As much as they are criticising Stonewall and talking about homosexuality being redefined, they don't appear to have cottoned on to the fact that transvestism is also under the umbrella.

EB: why is the emperor not wearing any clothes?

BBC guy: ..... [shiiiiiiiit] mmmm, we're trying to decide how to discuss it with him without him having a huge tantrum. But don't let on you know that we know that you know that we know. But we know and we are trying to find him some clothes without alerting him or drawing any more attention to the fact we've been letting him wander about the place in the nuddy.

BBC NEWSWATCH 03:53 minutes in shows public messages about the BBC leaving Stonewall. Lisa Buchanan's message is good. No-one from the BBC available to comment but they hope to cover it soon.
