@TeamRex

Why are these labour MPs siding with Stonewall? Nadia Whittome MP Zarah Sultana MP Angela Rayner MP

It's depressing isn't it? They are too stupid to understand that the BBC cannot report on lgbt issues impartially if they are taking their rules from Stonewall.

They obviously haven't listened to the podcast or had anyone summarise the key points to them.

From my, limited, experiance, I think they are not 'allowed' to listen to anything that goes against Genderism. They are relativly young people caught up in a movement that demands idological purity with extream punishments for those who dont chant the mantra loudly and often. Also being ambitious young women the pressure is on them even more than others. I would imagine if it got round that any of them had listened to the whole or even some of the Nolan report their staffers would be baying for their blood.

Angel Rayner may be the exception as she is in very high office but seems to have hitched her waggon to this and would lose so much face if she reversed ferret now.

FindTheTruth · 11/11/2021 08:56

Angela Raynor - 'a self identifying politician'

TravisFountain · 11/11/2021 09:03

Angela is one whose adherence to the ideology I could easily ascribe to the 'naked self interest' category, tbh.

Theeyeballsinthesky · 11/11/2021 09:20

I assume that Angela rayner is one of those left wing ppl who genuinely cannot understand why anyone could/would vote Tory and believes ppl who do to be either nasty or stupid. In that scenario anything a conservative government does is inherently wrong. She believes the Tories appointed Davie to the BBC to undermine the coverage of trans issues and the BBC leaving the stonewall scheme just reconfirms her view

It would not occur to her to think that no charity, no matter who they are or what they do, should ever be above scrutiny.

SirSamuelVimes · 11/11/2021 09:25

@McDuffy

A senior male colleague of mine (with significant policy influence) told me that I had made him totally rethink the issue. We take what we learn here into the real world and it makes a difference! Thanks, wise ones.
That's amazing - well done!

Yeah, I agree.

bellinisurge · 11/11/2021 09:47

Angela Raynor is so far into it, she'll struggle to pull back. I expect a few "well, I didn't mean THAT " from her and Lisa Nandy when the BBC finally challenges them on this.

I wonder, though, if they will dare to because they will also have to go after Johnson on it as well, what with his wife being a prominent Stonewall handmaiden. And we all know how cowardly they are going after Johnson.

Needmoresleep · 11/11/2021 09:55

What is the evidence that Carrie is a prominent Stonewall handmaiden?

Stonewall events are standard at Party Conferences. She stood in for elected politicians, and did not mention trans. But that is all.

(She is also friendly with a key Stonewall activist within the Tory party, though I forget his name, but equally is friendly with Nimco Ali and Sajid Javid, the latter seemingly interested in reversing some of the Stonewall stuff in the health service.)

nauticant · 11/11/2021 10:05

The BBC might be a bit shy about reporting this but Emma Barnett is looking into this on Woman's Hour.

WinterTrees · 11/11/2021 10:06

Just came to see if there was a thread nauticant

A good introduction to the issue so far. Actually helpful for people who may not know what this is all about.

The Young Minds website does the same.

Oh crap, really? I've supported Young Minds several times Sad

senua · 11/11/2021 10:42

Hurrah for the Beeb leaving Stonewall's scheme.

I'm not sure about Emma Barnett's attitude in that interview. I think that I would have given the BBC a small pat on the head and then asked 'what are next steps?' I don't think that sticking the boot in, when we are only on Day 2, is helpful.
I think that she went into journalistic attack-mode and wasn't really listening eg when he called coverage of TW in women's sport a 'hypothetical' EB didn't pick him up on that.

FloralBunting · 11/11/2021 11:51

@dolorsit

I was born early 70's, I can remember some media worries about gay men and children but I think this was mainly the fallout from PIE and the mistaken belief that men who assaulted boys were gay.

The only time I remember lesbians being described as predators was by men who were being dismissive of women needing female only spaces.

Lesbians as predators is on my bingo card from TRA men in particular who seem incapable of resisting this specific lie.

It usually stems from really old fashioned bigotry about lesbians as women who are trying to ape men, and betrays a view from the particular TRA that they actually know men are likely to be predatory, so in their mind lesbian = pretend men = predators.

They show their arse even when they're trying to hide it.

Young Minds do a lot of good. They are quite possibly compelled to stick to the line about homogenderism in order to be funded.
MistandMud · 11/11/2021 12:12

I have no idea why it's difficult to say that some people are attracted to only one sex, others to one gender expression, others to both or all. I can see that some people may well be happy with either a female or an apparently female partner. Fine. It's the denial that others have an orientation based solely on sex that is so bizarre.

Definitelydinosaur · 11/11/2021 12:45

Child of the sixties here, travelled alone on public transport from 9. (Normal in those days)
Warned about drunk men, men who wanted you to get in their car, Old Firm matches, Orange walks...you can see where this is going.
Advice was to look for a big lady if you needed help, butch lesbian was probably what my parents had in mind.

Why a lesbian, I wonder? I remember being advised to look for a woman with children.
Definitelydinosaur · 11/11/2021 13:54

Probably not actually looking for a lesbian, more to emphasise a woman not accompanied by a man.

Thank you for link.
Awful statistics re maternity deaths. How can this be happening in the 21st century in the UK?

That's quite the change! Would love to see if the style guide (or whatever it's called) has been updated.

Gastonia · 12/11/2021 12:00

I think that's a bit misleading.

The article on 14 October says "mother" a lot - 7 times - rather than women. It doesn't say "people" at all.

The second article includes the words: "for the vast majority of people, pregnancy remains very safe in the UK" and
"[Birthrights] remained deeply concerned that black and brown people's .... in pregnancy"

MrsJamin · 12/11/2021 14:44

Right. Time to put the pressure on and hold the BBC accountable for all the stuff they put out when in the clutches of Stonewall. Please can everyone complain about the fact that this programme www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/p0559vr5/leo-becoming-a-trans-man containing many unchecked mistruths needs to be deleted from iPlayer. It takes 5 mins to fill this out www.bbc.co.uk/contact/complaints.

blairresignationjam · 12/11/2021 15:37

That's a relief
