Netflix Employee Walkout - Transactivism in Microcosm

This is funny and sinister in equal measure.

Netflix employees in California staged a walkout in the wake of the recent Dave Chappelle special. A man was counter-protesting with a 'We Love Dave' sign. A transactivist physically accosts the man, rips up his sign and leaves him holding just the stick it was attached to. The transactivist then shouts, 'He's got a weapon!' giving the crowd the excuse they have been waiting for to jostle a peaceful protester backwards and shout abuse at him. One transactivist then drowns him out by rattling some jingles an inch from his face, while another (who would be great casting for a Netflix remake of The Crucible) repeatedly screams in his face, 'Repent, motherfucker!'

Like the Wi-Spa video, this is kind of perfect. It shows transactivists physically attacking someone, falsely claiming that person is the threat, and then using that to legitimise their own aggression. It all feels so familiar.

I don't know anything about the guy counter-protesting. He could be someone with whom I would agree with nothing except this. But he is absolutely right here and he deals with the situation so well. He makes them all look insane.

Galloping witch shouter edges it for me, it's the look and reaction on the face of the woman he is shouting at, the Policeman smirking and adjusting his mask to cover said smirk and the face of galloping witch shouter during the reverse gallop that seals it for me.

I agree, it was the reverse gallop that made it really something special. 6.0

Also, if you really believe you're currently being victimized by a holocaust, then every conceivable tactic to advance your cause will be justified regardless of ethics or anything else: violence, censorship, coercion, all of it. Who cares about ethics during a Holocaust?

Finally was able to watch the actual video. No idea who he is or what he generally stands for in life, but that man is amazing in his response, he handled it so, so well. Bravo.

I found it funny, but almost it in that, "laugh as a nervous reaction" way. I think I'd have been terrified by those protestors attacking like that.

My respect to the bearded man with the placard, who remained calm in the face of overwhelming provocation. The person in the grey and white jumper who stood just inches from the protestor was being extremely provocative.

I hope this clip is seen by a wide audience.

He was interviewed in another clip I saw before this incident saying he was there because he had a Trans child.

Aside from the ridiculousness of the whole thing (and the genuine threat to the stick man by numpties shouting 'He's got a weapon!'), this thread has made me laugh so much. The irony of a white born male person who co-produces (with a black man) a show which centres black lives and features a nearly all black cast kicking up a massive hissy fit and trying to cancel a black comedian is lost on these people.
