So... if I drink from a mug with a dinosaur on it at work, or have a dinosaur emoji on my status etc etc

Will that now be a subtle signal to my fellow GC sisters? I do hope so, I can't wait to see lots of dinosaurs being sported by women out and about - anyone complaining about a woman with a dinosaur is simply going to look batshit crazy Grin. (Although just to be clear I do talk about this a lot in rl but not so much at work but generally think that the more women who don't yet speak out about this can see how many others are GC the better and I suspect that the "GC Dinosaur" may just be our Bat Signal")

A Conversational Shirt?!?

Is that one designed to have a conversation in?

Or a conversation about?

The word conversation is starting to look weird now

These arrived today Grin

Rex/regina is a bit different than just gender though, in that they're a sexed pair. Sort of.

Does that make a male vagina a vax 🤔?

Brilliant! Link, please! Grin

Sproutandcrumpet: I'll be very disappointed if dinosaurs become a symbol of anyone's personal views. I like dinosaurs but don't share your views and would hate for anyone to assume I do just because I have a dinosaur bag.

Midgedude: Does it hurt when people take things off you and change the meaning of things ?

Midge wins the internet.

I wish I had three ears! Or even three piercings Grin

JustFrustrated · 13/10/2021 12:46

I have now purchased the bracelet and the pin.

The bracelet will be worn daily, as will the pin. Yay.

ChristmasPlanning · 13/10/2021 13:20

I love dinosaurs and have since I was a kid. My DC also love dinosaurs.

Really don't want dinosaurs to be cancelled! 🦖🦕

I find this thread very sad and a bit White Lives Matter Too. I have an LGBT teen and it’s sad they still have to face this sort of ‘discreet’ hate. I hope you all have a moment that opens your hearts.

FuriousAndFrustrated · 13/10/2021 17:31

There is no hate. Just concern for women's rights.

If you see any hate, report it and I'm sure the moderators will take the appropriate action.

QueenSue · 13/10/2021 17:32

Many women here are LGBT.
When male politicians call feminists dinosaurs, it's not even discreet hate is it.

QueenSue · 13/10/2021 17:35

Love the badge and the earrings btw! I want one of these: www.etsy.com/uk/listing/609593105/silver-or-gold-triceratops-dinosaur?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery

Your teen is Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans?

Gosh.

You'll find a lot of mumsnetters are L or B, or care about those who are L, G, B and yes, T. Why do I say T?

Because a teenager presently identifying as T is on a path towards procedures of body modification which all carry risks for his or her longterm health and choices, and part of parenting is not wanting your child to damage their health.

Did you know about the 'cotton ceiling'? It's a term used to denigrate and coerce lesbians who won't have sex with male people, on account of being lesbians. Is it okay for lesbians to be told they're bigoted for not dispensing sex to people who want to have sex with them?

As the meme goes, it’s not pie- more for you doesn’t mean less for me. I was a bit confused by this thread at first- which way it was going, I just wish we could all get on instead of feeling outdone by others’ new found strength.

Do you expect members of the L, or parents of L teens, to be okay about the following?

extract

"I’ve been officially out as a butch lesbian since the early 00’s (and my fam knew before then, like it was a surprise to no one even as a kid in the 90’s lmao). I’m black and the community I grew up in is/was super religious. I mean old school FIRE AND BRIMSTONE FOR SINNERS kind of shit.

"The opposition I faced with that is nothing, N-O-T-H-I-N-G compared to the hatred, contempt, and homophobia encountered when dealing with the trans community. I have been fighting this fight for years only to be told I’m lying. No waaaay a man would really tell you to suck dick and a bunch of women would cheer them on and blame YOU for not being inclusive it’s happening. No waaaay that’s true!

"Oh, you have proof?

"Well, um, those aren’t REAL transwomen.

"Really? Not a single one of those people is a “real” transwoman?:lesbian-rights-nz.org/shame-receipts/

"I have lost so many friends, some of them whom I’ve known since elementary school, to this cult. People who watched me get jumped and bullied in school numerous times, literally spit on at protests, and disowned by a huge chunk of my family because I stood up for my right to marry another woman someday. They went on to call me a bigot, transphobe, TERF (ironically I’d never heard this term until I was called it), the list goes on.

"When we got the right to marry and could no longer be denied other basic rights in the US, I figured the next logical step would be to focus on homosexuals in other places where they are still in literal danger; I assumed we would listen to them and see what we could do to help them obtain those rights too.

"Instead we ended up with this. Instead I had to fight the same exact fights again, but this time against the people who were once my friends.

"For a little while, I was spared some viciousness compared to white women because BLM was the hot take and no one wanted to be perceived as a racist. I watched the nicest woman I knew, who fosters animals and children and literally would not hurt a fly, be called Karen and told to kill herself while the aggressor was cheered on. All because she didn’t want to have sex with a male.

"As for my former immunity, that’s not been the case for a while. I have been called the N-word and other slurs while my own friends are only concerned I don’t “misgender” the person using them."

I'm not okay with this.

BringPizza · 13/10/2021 17:51

@PurgatoryOfPotholes cute, no he’s not all 4 he’s just gay Grin

Ref the cotton ceiling, no I’d not heard of it but 2 wrongs don’t make a right. I guess I’m being too simplistic, I just want people to be taken as they are not what others think they should be. And for no one to feel threatened by another group gaining an equal footing.

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 13/10/2021 17:51

As the meme goes, it’s not pie- more for you doesn’t mean less for me.

Actually, that's exactly what it means. If there is a male in a female only space that I want to use, then I won't be able to use that space. So the male gets the use the female only space and I, the female, don't get to use the female only space.

How much pie is that?

QueenSue · 13/10/2021 17:52

Why would your gay son be threatened by women having sex-based rights?

Thefartingsofaofdenmarkstreet · 13/10/2021 17:53

I just want people to be taken as they are not what others think they should be.

I don't think males should be male, I know they are male. How they dress and present is completely irrelevant to me, I couldn't give a fuck, but if there is a space specifically for females then that male shouldn't be in it.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 13/10/2021 17:55

Then, can you please, please listen?

We are seeing a brand new resurgence of homophobia. It has hit the lesbians first. It is now slowly hitting the G.

And it is real.

Lesbians are entitled not to have sex with people they find sexually unattractive and sexual coercion is always wrong.

Nearly 20 years ago, I was a stalwart member of a gay-straight alliance? Why? Because I believed in gay rights.

What's changed? Nothing. I still believe in gay rights. That's the issue.

RainbowCrossing · 13/10/2021 17:58

'I just wish we could all get on instead of feeling outdone by others’ new found strength.'

By 'outdone' do you mean 'raped'? That's how the women raped by men in women's prisons feel. Do you 'just wish they could get on' with their rapists?
