So... if I drink from a mug with a dinosaur on it at work, or have a dinosaur emoji on my status etc etc

Will that now be a subtle signal to my fellow GC sisters? I do hope so, I can't wait to see lots of dinosaurs being sported by women out and about - anyone complaining about a woman with a dinosaur is simply going to look batshit crazy Grin. (Although just to be clear I do talk about this a lot in rl but not so much at work but generally think that the more women who don't yet speak out about this can see how many others are GC the better and I suspect that the "GC Dinosaur" may just be our Bat Signal")

@ItsAllGoingToBeFine

How long until dinosaurs are a recognised hate symbol...
Being a woman of the female type is now a recognised hate symbol, so is wanting equal rights, so really what's the point in worrying? All the 'hate symbols' being added to the increasingly high pile translate as: 'that woman is symbolising a statement that sex exists and she wants equality'.

Yes. I am. Get over it.

AngelicInnocent · 10/10/2021 08:50

Hmmm. DD has some Dino jeans. May have to get some myself.

Also better give her a heads up if she's wearing them around uni!

I'll be very disappointed if dinosaurs become a symbol of anyone's personal views. I like dinosaurs but don't share your views and would hate for anyone to assume I do just because I have a dinosaur bag.
Just don't wear your bag. It's not like you have to wear your bag is it? Whereas our identities as 'people who wear dinosaur items' are really vital to our sense of wellbeing and MH.

I can't believe someone wouldn't do something as simple as leave their Brontosaurus shopper at home in order to make sure that a vulnerable minority can be their authentic selves. Educate yourself.

Thanks Rainbow. I've just snorted my tea because of that.😂

I have just bought a dinosaur mug. Thanks for the idea, witches!

Does it hurt when people take things off you and change the meaning of things ?

Design idea:

A purple dinosaur in witches hat. Witches hat can be in red blue green or yellow, depending on if you are in hufflepuff, slytherin, gryffyndor or ravenclaw.

I would like it on a tee shirt. Dinosaur can be talking to Father Ted and a speech bubble coming from its mouth saying 'no thank you!'

Oh dear. I guess you'll have to get over that or get another bag.

@Cwenthryth agree. I love rainbows too. You might like this shop www.etsy.com/uk/listing/270487124/rainbow-dinosaur-charm-bracelet?ref=shop_home_active_36&frs=1

Brilliant ideas. Off to Google dinosaur and Harry Potter jewellery immediately.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 10/10/2021 10:17

"Rex" isnotnecessarily "king", it can be "ruler". Whereas "regina" is specifically "queen".

It usually gets translated as "king", idiomatically, so "Herodes rex" -> "King Herod", but to always do so is a kind of sexist assumption.

Excellent point!

Well, I’m still managing to wear a rainbow unicorn bracelet that my daughter didn’t want.

I mean it was hard, I won’t lie, it will be tough sporting something that randoms might give one second of thought to and misunderstand me but I’ve got some very supportive friends who are getting me through this difficult time. I hope you have some too 🙏 you’ve got this.

No wonder the waiting lists are so long with all the clownfish etc ….

Unless and until a human penis can naturally turn into a vagina and vice versa without any outside interference, it’s a ridiculous comparison!

TheABC · 10/10/2021 10:31

I might have to fight my five-year-old for the Dino mug.

Identity as four as say youngest takes precedence?

I think I'll put one on my email signature at work. 🦖🦕

Hmm I feel like that about rainbows - I quite liked them however unfortunately I now associate them with misogyny and the stripping away of women's rights (you'll never catch me sporting a rainbow bag and as for a rainbow lanyard at work, that's beyond the pale).
