If they had any sense of morals they would refuse the award.
Not only did they do very poorly at the Olympics, there is apparently another glaring reason why they are not eligible for this award.

It's not even 'NZ sportswoman of the year' - just 'one NZ uni's'.

Hopefully other NZ institutions are giving women's awards to women, but they wouldn't merit mention.

I can't believe that Hubbard has the brass neck to accept this award while Olympic gold medallists are ignored.

@MrGHardy what makes Laurel brave? Surely it is braver to admit your participation puts the biological females in the sport at a disadvantage and to push for a space where you can participate fairly.

I have just read some comments on FB under an article in the mirror, no-one is buying it, well apart from the one poster who called everyone a transphobe and then told all the transphobes to die. It is men calling it out.

It is interesting because the 'you are all transphobes' poster didn't actually give a reason as to why the award was justified, other than everyone hating LH just for existing. I mean, even I could could come up with some semblance of an argument as to why LH deserved it, so if you truly believed in this surely it would be easy.
