This is, I guess, a natural outcome of TWAW - but also shows just how woke parts of NZ are (and which kind of “women” they really admire)

Hmm

Laurel Hubbard - Sportswoman of the year
Eyesofdisarray · 02/10/2021 12:41

Yaay Lisa Carrington!!!

GrouchyKiwi · 02/10/2021 12:42

Lisa Carrington is bloody amazing. She has held the World Championship in her discipline for something like 11 years in a row.

Jaysmith71 · 02/10/2021 12:43

Think I might identify as a PhD from Otago.

Wrote my name on the dissertation then left it blank.

Helleofabore · 02/10/2021 12:43

I remember a thread where a poster said ‘there is no way transwomen will dominate women’s sport’.

And yet, here we see it. A mature male ex-record holder who took a young woman’s position on the Olympic team, failed to record a lift and is awarded an accolade the same year Lisa Carrington received a record number of gold medals for NZ…..

Nothing to see here…. Look at squirrel….

TedImgoingmad · 02/10/2021 13:02

Perhaps Rich Old Daddy Hubbard has an open heart and wallet for any institution supporting his daughter?

GrumpyMiddleAgedWoman · 02/10/2021 13:37

I am so fucking over this shit.
It's just appalling.

Wokery over truth, lies over science, bullshit over reality.

War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.

thinkingaboutLangCleg · 02/10/2021 13:40

We need to see who these 11 NZ medal winners are and choose a SportsWoman of the year (MN/NZ). Happy to chip in a little for the prize money too if NZ MNers can organise something.

Crowdfunder? I’m in.

‘‘We could think of no-one more worthy of sportswoman of the year than Laurel Hubbard who represented Otago and New Zealand incredibly well at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.’'

Define 'incredibly well'.
Shouldn't Hubbard be ashamed to accept this accolade. In no universe was it a good effort.
It was a no effort.

Datun · 02/10/2021 14:20

Shameful behaviour. They might as well say hey, New Zealand women, we hate your guts.

ErrolTheDragon · 02/10/2021 14:24

Maybe this definition of incredible: 'So implausible as to elicit disbelief; unbelievable: '

This award is truly incredible.

Changemusthappen · 02/10/2021 14:38

NZ are always thought of so highly in the sporting world. This is what they have come to, entering men into womens sports and then awarding them accolades for not only cheating but not performing either. They should be ashamed, it makes them look very stupid.

TheWeeDonkey · 02/10/2021 14:42

Well I guess it takes a dick swinger to show us little ladies how its done properly huh?

Reddwolff · 02/10/2021 14:50

It's an insult to women of NZ, someone who never faced their challenges just walks in and creams off all the accolades and awards. That's after taking them from oceania women in competition and dumping a medallist from the weightlifting slot they took a few years back.

Holly Robinson is from Dunedin and is a paralympian, they were worthy of consideration. Sophie Pascoe and Lisa Adams, sister of Dame Valerie Adams all should have been under consideration with solid performances in the Paralympics. Lisa Carrington, Valerie Adams, Black Ferns, Silver Ferns all have some outstanding team members. They could even have memorialised Olivia Podmore, cyclist who died a few months ago from suicide.

No, of course not, can't celebrate women and their achievements.

Snugglepumpkin · 02/10/2021 15:02

That is disgusting & an insult to actual women everywhere.

Why not just put up big signs "We hate real women unless we want a surrogate or a quick shag" & be done with it.

This amounts to the same thing.

Jaysmith71 · 02/10/2021 15:10

Not a hint of criticism here:

www.odt.co.nz/sport/other-sport/otago-university-honours-hubbard

Two standouts:

"Hubbard is believed to be the first transgender winner of the award in the event’s 113-year history." - I mean any of them could have been trans. We just didn't notice...

"The Queenstown athlete became the first openly transgender woman to compete at the Olympics." - In the sense that the likes of the Press Sisters and Stella Walsh were fraudulent cheats...

BlameItOnTheBlackStar · 02/10/2021 15:20

No useful words

🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬

RaisedByPangolins · 02/10/2021 15:34

Hang on a minute - isn’t this one of those things that never happens?

BigSandyBalls2015 · 02/10/2021 15:46

Christ, that is jaw dropping

CuriousaboutSamphire · 02/10/2021 15:52

And I thought Canada was the weirdest place on the planet. Since when did New Zealand outwoke Canada?

Jaysmith71 · 02/10/2021 15:56

NZ & Canada, citizens often mistaken for those of the noisy neighbours, both attempt to differentiate themselves by promoting socially progessive policies.

Not quite the same, but see also Scotland (and Wales) which are definitely promoting this stuff more than England.
Jaysmith71 · 02/10/2021 16:20

...and Ireland?

dementedma · 02/10/2021 16:23

Fucking joke
