Weird situation

I tutor some primary school siblings online. Have done for ages. They've just told me that their dad is transgender and likes wearing girls' school uniform, including to work. But uses "he" pronouns with family because the grandparents don't know.
I feel a bit weird about this. Transgender - ok. But why girls' school uniform? He's a middle-aged man.

Perhaps they mean women's work clothes, rather than actual school uniform?

893confused · 28/09/2021 14:31

No, they showed me photos of Korean / Japanese girls' school uniforms, online.
The mum joined in and confirmed he's transgender. It was a bit embarrassing.

I would just shut any further talk down as not relevant to your role as a tutor and ask the mother to be clear with the children what appropriate topics of conversation are.

allmywhat · 28/09/2021 14:34

😱

… to work? (Where does he work?)

… around his children?

You’re right, that is weird and wrong. Grown men dressing up in girl’s school uniform are enacting a pedophilia-adjacent fetish and they should keep their colleagues and .their children out of it.

I hope the children aren’t girls.

The children are both girls. To be fair, I'd given them homework, which was writing practice about the clothes their family wear. I had no idea that this would come out!! I assumed it was a joke until the mum confirmed it.

Yeah. Their dad has AGP, possibly peodophile-adjacent.

He's likely spent a LOT of time on the internet researching how to say the most woke thing in order to get the maximum value out of his fetish. Basically gaming the system. "Being trans" my arse.

Extremist gender ideology is an open door to people like this.

GeorgiaMcGraw · 28/09/2021 14:43

Sounds like autogynephilia. Dr Ray Blanchard has done a lot of work on this. Poor family, it's completely inappropriate for him to show a fetish to his children.

Stop feeding the trolls !!
Oh, thought it was real....
MrsOvertonsWindow · 28/09/2021 14:50

This will likely be deleted as there's a lot of people determined that women will not realise some of the reasons that some man have for transitioning ..

893confused · 28/09/2021 14:53

I'm not a troll - I've just name changed for this. This came out of the blue - I've been teaching the girls for a long time. They seem ok. I had an idea that the family was a bit unconventional, but not this.

Why are you trying to stop people talking about a potential safeguarding issue?
LaRobeRouge · 28/09/2021 15:00

I'd given them homework, which was writing practice. What do you tutor them in? Hopefully not English.

What's wrong with that phrase in your view, LaRobe?
893confused · 28/09/2021 15:03

What's wrong with my English, LaRobeRouge? Feel free to critique it.

Eeek

I suspect all posts identifying what that behaviour is will be deleted
(Anyone else getting racist vibes too?)

I don't care if MN delete the thread. I was just feeling a bit shell-shocked.

Sorry to derail, but it would be really great if you could say what you think is wrong with that sentence. (Obviously there is nothing wrong with it in terms of syntax, spelling etc but I am interested in attitudes to language use, so if you could say what you think is wrong, I would find it really useful!)
893confused · 28/09/2021 15:23

Maybe LaRobeRouge is American, and is objecting to the -c in "practice".

Very odd indeed! Especially that they are so public about it.
