Oh look 👀

Given the words woman and female have been appropriated how long before TW claims to be people with a cervix?

I get the impression that India doesn't know what a cervix is.

ArabellaScott · 26/09/2021 20:56
Confused
ArabellaScott · 26/09/2021 20:56

Maybe India means 'neck'.

CreepingDeath · 26/09/2021 21:00

I get the sense that India isn't very well.

GroggyLegs · 26/09/2021 21:02

I can't see India's tweets as they're protected.

Has there been a robust response to the nonsense?

Whatsnewpussyhat · 26/09/2021 21:06

How do you make a female only body part from an inverted penis?

Artichokeleaves · 26/09/2021 21:07

Trouble is, I have the kind of a cervix that means I'll be deleted if I respond as I want to: either to join in with making stuff up in a way that will be interpreted as rude to those with - other kinds of cervixes- or to point out reality which will be interpreted as too hard to those with other kinds of cervixes.

Which just goes to prove: these words are all whirling around in ever more complicated patterns, but no one in this situation has any problem knowing which kind of cervix I have and therefore the treatment particular to those with my kind of cervix, and who has another kind of cervix. Who exactly at this point do any of us think we're kidding?

WeeBisom · 26/09/2021 21:08

Jo's trust, a cervical cancer charity, straight up says on their website that "trans women do not have a cervix and so do not need cervical screening." It also says that if a trans woman has a "neo cervix' they do not need a smear test as it would not benefit them. I imagine if trans women have a tantrum about this, as India has, then reality will be further warped to suit their whims and it will turn out that trans women have cervixes after all! But maybe I'm just being too cynical.

allmywhat · 26/09/2021 21:08

Omg that is hilarious. IW manages,in spectacularly male fashion, to make this offer to expose their genital surgery site sound like a threat.
First flashing incident in history to require a torch, a speculum and a periscope? And then there wouldn’t even be anything there!

I agree. India needs less airtime on this issue, I think it was apparent that they are unable to cope with reality when they started describing them self as a 'cis woman'.

It must be quite devastating to go through everything India has to be a post op transwoman, only for the barrier to be kicked down to let anyone claim your status. I can see why they would want to be more 'real' than for example Alex Drummond, but pretending to be an actual women with a woman's internal sex organs is bazaar when you are famous for being trans.

StillWeRise · 26/09/2021 21:13

I would love Andrew Marr to take IW up on IW's offer
very enlightening for all of us that would be

So they can't call females 'people with a cervix' because they claim to have one too.
Same with 'vagina havers' then?

They're fast running out of body parts to refer to us as.

Acatcalledcharlie · 26/09/2021 21:22

A HCP told me that I had a beautiful cervix once perfectly round (pre kids obvs).

Sigh, it's been a particularly sad day today in the fight for Women's Rights. Its all rather exhausting!

AdditionalCharacter · 26/09/2021 21:26

Oh dear, I no longer have a cervix. What do I address myself as, seeing as the word woman is slowly being deleted by society?

Body with a vagina? At least that's what the Lancet suggests.....
StillWeRise · 26/09/2021 21:32

PFWAC
person formerly with a cervix

Rummikub · 26/09/2021 21:35

I think we should opt for xx
Can’t change that.

I was told I had a suitable cervix by the midwife when I was in labour. I'm not sure what would have happened if it was unsuitable.
PronounssheRa · 26/09/2021 21:39

I think India needs a lengthy break from social media for indias own wellbeing

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 26/09/2021 21:43

I'd previously have thought this gratuitous and unusual but it seems like a neo-cervix is a thing (I have no idea if India has one).

It's not unusual for people to understand cervix as a reference to the cervical spine. (A frequently rehearsed argument on FWR as to why referring to "people with a cervix" is of limited usefulness for health communications.)

pansypotter123 · 26/09/2021 21:44

I have a cervix but not the rest of the "bits" - so what on earth am I!?!? 😵‍💫

Rummikub · 26/09/2021 21:47

XX

Justrealised · 26/09/2021 21:48

I've just been sent the smear leaflet with the notice to go for my smear from the nhs. It does say in there trans women don't need a smear.

I hope this doesn't still happen but I remember the days when the phrase "incompetent cervix" was in use.
Theendoftheworldisnigh · 26/09/2021 22:08

I've read a list of definitions by some trans organisation. What we call vaginas were re-named "front holes". Whereas a transwoman's neovagina was named a "vagina". Biological women literally weren't deemed to have vaginas at all.
