Picture pretty much says it all. Horrifying that this is allowed.

Just last week an inquest concluded into the tragic death of a female MMA fighter whose family felt the fight was mismatched and this was an actual female opponent.

Allowing males to compete in the female category makes an already dangerous sport so much more dangerous.

Novice trans man beats experienced woman would be more accurate.

I have to say I doubt I'd enjoy watching any MMA fight. But I can see what commenters mean when they say Alana is not very skilled.

gailforce1 · 13/09/2021 11:02

This is now being covered by the Mail on line - sorry I cannot share.

The clip shows the two athletes and it is clear which one is male bodied.

Tibtom · 13/09/2021 14:01

This has popped up twice on my FB this morning. Both times all the comments were heavily critical along the lines of "why are we celebrating a man beating up a woman?"

gailforce1 · 13/09/2021 17:14

Piers Morgan now has his thoughts on this in the Mail on line - sorry I cannot link.
Certainly the comments under the original article in the Mail were "why is this even happening?".
I do think very many people are unaware that this is happening.

@NotBadConsidering

I’d love to hear from our regular posters how they can justify an ex special forces soldier choking out a woman in the name of equality and inclusivity.
You're quite correct. Ladies must stick to safe sports. Anything else is victim-blaming towards women who get injured.
Cam001 · 13/09/2021 20:31

This is sickening. If you haven't seen the South Park "Strong Woman" sketch look it up, it's quite prophetic.

Roguehair · 13/09/2021 22:37

This isn’t going to be great for this cheat or for MMA in the long run. Sponsors may pull out due to backlash from the vast majority, which may force the hand of the governing body. At least we can hope.

ArabellaScott · 13/09/2021 22:58

I have had a wee look at various sports channels and MMA groups on social media. I am seeing outrage, everywhere.

This is a startlingly stupid comment, even for you.

Because if we don't stick to non-contact sports, it's our own fault if men hurt us?

Is that what you're trying to say?

EdgeOfACoin · 14/09/2021 05:42

Really, Pumpkin? This is the line you're taking?

In case you haven't spotted, nobody is blaming the victim. People are blaming the organisers who are so desperate not to appear bigoted that they are putting women at significant risk - far more than they would be otherwise.

Why do you think women don't compete against men in this sport? (Hint, it's to do with the biological differences between the sexes and nothing to do with whether the participants feel all manly or womanly on the inside.)

NotBadConsidering · 14/09/2021 07:18

Well I guess it’s a logical tactic. PumpkinSpiceWoman or their fellow posters are probably going to steer clear of focusing the discussion on the actions of the male in a women’s sport, and would prefer to focus the discussions on the actions of the women opponents.

Because obviously the issue here is the choices women make in deciding to fight a male, and not the choices the male makes in deciding to fight women, nor the obvious physical advantage, nor the threat to safety or life Hmm.

And I guess it’s an obvious tactic because to come out and say “I support the right of a male ex special forces soldier to choke a woman for entertainment” is a bit too transparent, even for our regulars.

I think you’re right. I couldn’t work out what PumpkinSpice meant at all, but I think this is it- deflect, deflect, deflect!
TheWeeDonkey · 14/09/2021 07:58

Its quite ironic that this person wears a t-shirt saying "stop trans genocide" while peaking a whole new section of society.
A complete lack of self awareness.

I don't understand why this person so obviously has some complex issues, but the one treatment they have is transition? As if thats going to help their PTSD

KittenKong · 14/09/2021 07:59

What genocide where? ‘How’ genocide?

The arguments are generally not thought out, or just fermented queer theory.

Me too. It’s jaw droppingly awful. It’s abuse, violence, assault in plain sight.
KittenKong · 14/09/2021 08:05

But ‘wrong’ words can kill don’t you know...

334bu · 14/09/2021 08:09

In UK statistics would appear to show that being a transwoman puts you in a very safe demographic. No transwomen killed in the last 3 years.

TheWeeDonkey · 14/09/2021 08:14

Well thats the question isn't it. When we can turn on the news and see actual genocides every day its quite a sick and more than a little bit of a narcissistic act.

KittenKong · 14/09/2021 08:18

Safe sport? What’s that - competitive knitting? Poem writing? Cloud gazing?

FrancescaContini · 14/09/2021 08:20

“Genocide”

Fucking hell, it’s beyond inappropriate and arrogant to use this word. Such narcissism. This individual has clearly never heard of Rwanda or any other fucking hideous recent events where REAL genocide was committed on an appalling scale.

KittenKong · 14/09/2021 08:25

I think - it’s all image isn’t it. It’s reminds me of the old wrestling matches that used to be in tv - boo the baddies. Cheer the goodies. Victims become the victors.

Actual genocide is ugly, terrifying and scary.
Actual suicide stats are dreadful.
Actual hate crime is violent and unjust.
Actual biology is... eoooowwwww yukky

Rainbows, flags and unicorns with glitter are just so darned cute. Focus all your youthful ‘outrage’ on something where you don’t need to see photos of mutilated bodies or crying children.
