Picture pretty much says it all. Horrifying that this is allowed.

Just last week an inquest concluded into the tragic death of a female MMA fighter whose family felt the fight was mismatched and this was an actual female opponent.

Allowing males to compete in the female category makes an already dangerous sport so much more dangerous.

ArabellaScott and FemaleandLearning, I'm so sorry, it's not enough but Flowers for you both.

ArabellaScott · 11/09/2021 23:36

xxx ta, RedDogs.

FemaleAndLearning · 11/09/2021 23:42

Embarrassing and RedDogs I'm okay. I'm forever thankful that I was reached my enough is enough and got out with my young daughters. It is indeed a long recovery. I hate things round my neck and I can't let anyone touch it even my children. Things like this just make me mad, it is just an excuse for men to beat up women. As others had said consent to the fight wasn't really a choice and that sits uncomfortable with me too. Those punches to the head from a male to a female are just horrific. Fallon Fox all over again.

faithfulbird20 · 11/09/2021 23:51

Sadly we're going back to women losing their rights. It's abuse. I mean look at the transgender persons body.

PaterPower · 11/09/2021 23:59

Disgusting.

  • How the hell does this person think it’s appropriate to be getting into the ring with a woman?
  • Why was this bout sanctioned by the promoter and the relevant sporting body?
  • What pressure was the woman put under to ‘compete’ against this person?
  • It’s very clear, from the footage, that this person is an amateur; their technique is terrible. Which just highlights how much of an advantage their very late transition has given them when fighting a woman.
Florabritannica · 11/09/2021 23:59

Why is it that transwomen are so vociferous in claiming the right to compete in women’s sport, when - as far as I am aware - transmen are silent on the subject? Surely their human right to participate is equal to that of transwomen? It can’t have anything to do with the fact that transmen will always lose to biological men, can it?

PermanentTemporary · 12/09/2021 00:18

Florabritannica, transmen aren't silent at all. Chris Mosier was the lead name on the case to persuade the IOC to remove the surgery requirement for trans people to compete in the Olympics, in 2015. I mean, we know why that is, but the fact remains that Chris was vocal about it. There are a quite a few other names of transmen who compete in sport and talk about it as of they are competing as men. Very few do that, in fact; so far I've found when I Google them only a few have had even a single competition as a man.

timeisnotaline · 12/09/2021 01:05

@KittenKong

Someone who has had military training and with ptsd.
Absolutely, I meant to put that in and lost track while working out my phrasing. Someone with complex ptsd trained to kill when their fight reflex is activated. Anyone in this scenario should not be allowed to compete in my very uninformed opinion.
ItsLateHumpty · 12/09/2021 02:29

This quote really disturbed me:

Before her bout, McLaughlin, a former member of the US Army Special Forces, said: “I want to pick up the mantle that Fallon put down.”

And this comment on the article perfectly sums up why:

Leonie9999
"Right now, I’m following in Fallon’s footsteps."
So he is planning on breaking a disobedient woman's aka TERF's skull and boast about how much he enjoyed it on Twitter... or possibly worse?

Kanaloa · 12/09/2021 02:35

I don’t even know what to say or think. It seems like it will eventually get to the point where men’s sports are men’s sports and women’s sports are trans sports.

Sophoclesthefox · 12/09/2021 06:44

Flowers to female and arabella.

Of course we won’t see any of the cheerleaders on this thread. They couldn’t even bring themselves to defend Hubbard at the Olympics, never mind this. Because they know it’s wrong. They know.

But they’re in a philosophical bind, because the worldview demands that you never, ever, ever let there be the slightest deviation from the belief that being a woman is a state of mind and not a physical reality, and any and all risk to women from that position is acceptable collateral damage.

Let’s have a think about what we’re likely to see when a male bodied person and a woman are pitted against each other.

Male upper bodies have approximately 75% more muscle mass and 90% more strength than female bodies. A recent study found that male punch power was 162% greater than female (www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/02/200205132404.htm).

Males have more fast twitch muscle fibres than females, and this difference is made more pronounced the more you train, as males tend to develop more fast twitch muscles when strength training, where females develop a mix of fast and slow twitch. Fast twitch fibres give you speed and explosive power, which means you react quicker, and create more power from the greater speed.

Male bones are stronger and longer than female bones, which means a longer reach, a sturdier structure and a bigger and more solid head. A woman on her thirties will already be starting to lose bone mass. This means a greater injury risk to female bodies.

None of these factors are affected by someone’s gender identity. They apply exactly to a transwoman as they do to a man. If you want to show me how that’s not true, you will need to bring evidence, and that evidence will have to disprove millennia of human development, thousands of years of human knowledge, and decades of scientific research, so it’s going to have to be hot fucking stuff.

It is dangerous, delusional, unscientific fantasy to suppose that pitting women against this fighter is fair, safe or desirable.

It has to stop.

Good. We need men to protest loudly about the inclusion of males in women's sports. This is not a fight women can win by ourselves, not because we aren't brave or motivated but because there are too many forces pushing against us.

Unfortunately there's a lot of very stupid people on Twitter who don't understand that men are so much stronger than women even if that man isn't as muscular as he was a few years ago. All the variances between male and female cannot be made fair and equal by anything.

Also there's a lot of people (mostly men but not all) on Twitter who get a kick out of this happening to women.

Science is one of my weaker areas but it amazes me how many supposedly educated people are scientifically illiterate on this, claiming that male advantage is cancelled out if a man is shorter, lighter or older. I actually don't think this is stupidity or ignorance. Most of these people know that they are lying but they just don't care, as long as the lie helps with their objective. It's part of the Trumpian post-truth world.

...with them all saying how this is an example of HRT working to reduce muscle mass and therefore it's fair.

Some saying Celine consented and doesn't need defending, though I'd rather hear that from Celine and only if that is truly freely spoken and agreed, as in, not coerced.

I'd also like to hear from the federation and the referee, and the insurance companies. Twitter always seems to forget there is paperwork.

Remind me, how much did McG win?

You're probably right. Lying as a virtue.

Women are just smaller men...
But my sister could beat my granddad...
Physical strength and the benefits of male puberty just disappear...
Women are exactly the same as men...
I hope you don’t teach your daughters that they aren’t as strong as men...
You go Queen!

Seriously - are people on twitter pig ignorant or just taking the Mickey?

Yes, they are, aren't they.

Displaying complete ignorance about muscle composition, how muscle is formed etc., ligaments, bones, but absolutely convinced they're correct and progressive.

Even posting gotcha photo panels and saying - which of these women has transitioned (I paraphrase). I looked and thought 'none but surely they wouldn't pose a dishonest test'- reader, they had, none of them were.

KittenKong · 12/09/2021 10:23

Oh and how old are they? Let’s not forget the age at which some people can continue to compete in their new categories Vs their competitors.

I’m telling you - a few year from now it will be ‘how did we allow this?’. Sadly it will be after fatalities.

Roguehair · 12/09/2021 10:26

That photo of a male choking a female is so disturbing. Combined with the male fighter saying “ we’re going to have to work out way into those spaces and make it happen” just sounds like a male abuser terrorising his female victim. How the hell is this being allowed in 2021?

Roguehair · 12/09/2021 10:26

Flowers to the survivors of DV on this thread.

KittenKong · 12/09/2021 10:32

There is another close up image - looks like it’s been taken from above - and it is just horrific. I feel like I am seeing a violent attack. In the street this would be a crime.

ArabellaScott · 12/09/2021 10:33

Indeed there are stupid people on Twitter right now arguing that males are not stronger than females.

Where do you even start with arguments like this?
