I saw a tweet saying that this is so - can’t see anything else though.

Tell me it’s not true...

The First Minister said she understood some people had “sincerely held concerns”, and insisted the changes would not remove any legal protections women currently had.

Oh ffs Nicola, who do you think you're fooling.

No, women's sex based rights and spaces cannot simultaneously exist while giving all male people full all entry tickets to them.

Throwing money at VAWG also means bugger all, since by 'women' you mean 'people of either sex' and some of those female people those refuges and crisis centres were fought for, funded by and set up for are now staying in life threatening relationships because they aren't allowed female only spaces and mixed sex spaces are not compatible with their needs.

Anti female politics.

Crouton19 · 07/09/2021 15:42

If the medical element is removed (presumably a diagnosis of GD) then is the NHS still expected to cover costs of hormones and other treatments to assist transition? Would that all then be down to the individual to pay for? It seems to acknowledge that this is a lifestyle/cosmetic matter rather than alleviating the misery of GD. Or is the process of getting a GRC being treated as separate from medical transition/GD treatment and that anyone may do one without the other?
Perhaps I am getting muddled.

Tibtom · 07/09/2021 15:43

Of course they are. You don't make pathetic apolegetic videos to transideologues because you have voted to allow traumatised injured women who have been violently raped by men to request a female doctor examine them immediately after an assault; have supposedly impartial civil servants insisting more needs to be done to appease political lobbyist; give ministerial positions to arch misogynists; or ignore the abuse directed at your own MSPs because you care about a yone othe than these men.

People voted for the SNP.

They did say this is what they would do.

Write to your MSPs. It's not a done deal yet, there are still lots of stages (I think) that it has to go through, and opportunities to stop it. external.parliament.scot/visitandlearn/Education/18641.aspx

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 07/09/2021 16:06

I get nervous of writing to my MSPs because I worry I'll miss something out or not be powerful enough to get their attention.

Don't suppose anyone's seen a draft letter or list of key points about why I need my elected representative to be able to define me as a person so he can protect my rights as a citizen?

Fucking raging.

KittenKong · 07/09/2021 16:07

I am actually so pissed off I don’t know what to do with myself. Currently marching up and down the office making frustrated chicken noises.

There was a fair amount of respondents in the analysis who pointed out that the Scottish Government were citing reports and sources in relation to GRA reform which were irrelevant and were using statistics which were either incorrect or were interpreted in a less than impartial way. I would be interested in Nicola Sturgeon addressing these issues rather than issuing mealy mouthed platitudes.

If you think she will then you have not been paying attention. Mealy mouthed platitudes is her forte.

I get nervous of writing to my MSPs because I can’t feel sure anymorew that my name and address won’t end up on a list curated by a potentially dangerous and violent lunatic.

Its much more important that you add your voice even if you only make one point. A short, concise letter is more effective anyway, imo.
Waitwhat23 · 07/09/2021 16:18

I don't think she will despite her statement that she's 'feminist to the tips of her fingers'. In the words of another poster -'Feminist? Are ye, aye?'

ditalini · 07/09/2021 16:19

The First Minister said she understood some people had “sincerely held concerns”, and insisted the changes would not remove any legal protections women currently had.

This means precisely nothing unless we know exactly the definition that NS and her government are using for the term "women".

Spoiler: it won't be adult human female.

Babdoc · 07/09/2021 16:21

Welcome to Tartanistan, OP. Where women can be prosecuted for a hate crime if they object to having naked penises in their changing rooms. Courtesy of the SNP.
How any sane woman can vote for these misogynistic idiots is beyond me. God help us if we ever end up independent- there will be no higher authority left to appeal to for common sense and to overturn their vile legislation.

Itsinthetreesitscoming · 07/09/2021 16:22

No surprise but I think and I hope that NS may well have misunderstood public opposition to this.

Does it matter if she has? The SNP are profoundly undemocratic and vote en masse. Their MSPs only represent The Party and the Greens will vote it through.

I'd be able to see it too :)

SirChenjins · 07/09/2021 16:38

Aye - but c'mon, independence and all that...focus on the bigger picture please, ladies (of all kinds).

Joking aside, I'm fucking furious. This is now a one party state with all their madness supported and voted through by a party that got 1.3% fucking percent of the vote - and their followers completely blind to everything bar the end goal of indy.

HirplesWithHaggis · 07/09/2021 16:44

And the SNP under Nicola doesn't even want independence, though they keep offering carrots to the faithful. GRA, that's grand though, and all the shit they're teaching kids.

MrsJackRackham · 07/09/2021 16:51

I'd love to write to my MSP but her staff are very sensitive and may spontaneously combust over a strongly worded email.

So if I can as going to write to my useless MSP what key points should I cover in my email?
