Can't see this elsewhere, apologies if I'm duplicating. I'll stick it on the Scottish action thread too.
Is anyone off here going, or involved?

@Sophoclesthefox

By that reasoning, you should have opposed the move in 2018 to reform the GRA, catherina, because it was brought by a Tory government, who are responsible for the misery and suffering of countless women, as you say above.

Did you oppose it?

Back in the real world, If anybody wishes to effect political change, then they are going to have speak to and build bridges with politicians of every hue

This is true and maybe you will get an answer?
terryleather · 03/09/2021 18:15

We can do this all day.

Yes we can Helle

But that is great because it highlights to those reading to see more and more of the people who are pushing an agenda that is detrimental to women and children in the name of inclusion.

So here's a few for starters:

Gordon Pike, convicted for possessing images of CSA and responsible for pushing the policy of males with trans identities being placed into women's prisons.

Or James Rennie, the accused in what was called "Scotland's worst ever child sex abuse trial" and former head of LGBT Youth Scotland"

Or Edward Lord OBE, non-binary identifying and a freemason who described Dr. Ken Plummer - a well known member of PIE and paedophile advocate as a "hero"

Here is another councilor who has been a big supporter of making single sex spaces mixed sex.

Former Manchester Labour councillor Carl Ollerhead, who said that males have a right to access women's and girls' spaces such as toilets and there is no evidence that this is dangerous, has been charged with indecently assaulting a girl under the age of 16

And these are activists not just ‘people not actively involved but aligned with’!

Rhannion · 03/09/2021 18:44

@CatherinaJTV

I had a look through some twitter threads and the fact that at least two Tories were allowed to cosy up to y'all and claim "pro women" credentials when they have been systematically making the lives of women worse (think rape clause, all the cuts that increase poverty, poverty of mothers, make women more dependent on partners etc) is sickening.
I think it’s sickening that a man who presents as a woman and who lied by omission is still the CEO of Edinburgh Rape Crisis!!! The fact that it was only Tory MSPs that came to hear the speakers yesterday spoke volumes! We find ourselves with strange bedfellows in this fight.
Rhannion · 03/09/2021 18:52

@Sophoclesthefox

Anyway, it looked like a fab day, and what a turn out it was for a movement that’s entirely composed of half a dozen man haters on Mumsnet and Glinner!
😂💚🤍💜👍💪I know, who would have thought it...! There were elderly women, young women , breastfeeding women, lesbian women, straight women, disabled women, political women and non political women too, plus two beautiful calm Airedale dogs! And we all went to the pub afterwards!

Would also like to hear @catherinaJTV answer to this. Were you happy to align with the Tories because you wanted the GRA reform?

If so, you're a hypocrite and have an almighty cheek calling the women who are fighting for their rights while being ignored and silenced by the SNP and Greens shameful.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 03/09/2021 19:03

you lot cosied up to men who systematically made women's lives more difficult.

There are male people on my list who have done that. Your DARVO faux concern doesn't wash here. The Tories are the government in power in the U.K. as a whole, and TRAs certainly cosy up to them. The SNP are shameful.

catzwhiskas · 03/09/2021 19:08

Listened to Thursday’s woman’s hour and the demo was mentioned prior to it taking place. There was an item about the GRA reform in Scotland and despite the occasional word like “prisons” thrown in, Emma did not choose to do her usual interrogation of the suspect in respect of what aspects women are objecting to. The general belief put forward that it is more or less done and dusted especially now the Greens are on board ( is this the only thing they agree on?)
After that there was an item featuring the concept of old women/ ladies and our views are wanted, great opportunity to bring in why us oldies are furious about gender ideology and how we no longer care what TRAs think of us.

Rhannion · 03/09/2021 19:08

@Helleofabore

So, just to clarify… there were actual counter protesters there? wearing shirts with logos of alternative lobby groups?

Were they abused? Have their hats stolen? Were they needing police escorts for their safety?

No?

No definitely not! But my friend got hit on the head with a board by one of their crowd !

the photos and the posts of the gloating politicians speak for themselves. Look! I am a feminist, these women say so, nevermind the rape clause. Sickening.
merrymouse · 03/09/2021 20:00

CatherinaJTV you haven’t answered the question. Do you condemn anyone who talks to Conservative politicians, including those lobbying for self ID?

Sophoclesthefox · 03/09/2021 20:00

Hi @CatherinaJTV, I see you’re still online, just wondering if you also saw my question upthread?
Helleofabore · 03/09/2021 20:05

Look! I am a feminist, these women say so, nevermind the rape clause. Sickening.

Shall we continue to post some of the gloating allies that want to prioritise gender above sex in law that also has the potential to harm woman and girls.

Even politicians such as Lisa Nandy.

Please answer Sophoclesthefox’s question first though.

merrymouse · 03/09/2021 20:07

I’m also unclear about which issues you are classifying as ‘feminist’ and how they affect the people previously classified as women. From what I understand the SNP no longer believes there it is acceptable for women to organise politically and any ‘rape clause’ affects men and women equally.

Helleofabore · 03/09/2021 20:25

I mean, I am happy to look up and list all the SNP, greens and labour MSPs that objected to the six word amendment.

Shall we do that? I mean, I have a lot of time so happy to do so, while I continue to list the trans activists and allies that have been instrumental in policy or legislation that has been harmful or would be potentially harmful to women and girls. And gay people and lesbian.

Waitwhat23 · 03/09/2021 20:25

the photos and the posts of the gloating politicians speak for themselves. Look! I am a feminist, these women say so, nevermind the rape clause. Sickening.

What I found sickening, as a Scottish feminist in particular, was my elected politicians voting against rape survivors being able to request female examiners.

And yet again, please answer Sophocle's question @CatherinaJTV.

Or just continue with the hypocrisy and DARVO. Everyone sees you.

GrandmaSteglitszch · 03/09/2021 20:32

There was so much "aggro " that when she dropped her wee megaphone thing and the batteries rolled out, she was handed them back by women in the crowd , so that she could continue her protest.

Smile
DoctorTwo · 03/09/2021 20:33

Probably choosing to not answer as it's a difficult question when your answer will ptove your own hypocrisy @Sophoclesthefox. Not yours, obvs, but that of @CatherinaJTV

Helleofabore · 03/09/2021 20:34

Oh dear!! So much abuse and violence right there!

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 03/09/2021 20:38

this is brilliant. much admiration to the women of scotland

Helleofabore · 03/09/2021 20:39

Rhannion

No definitely not! But my friend got hit on the head with a board by one of their crowd !

I hope it was not deliberate and it didn’t hurt.

334bu · 03/09/2021 20:43

Actually woman with wee megaphone nearly took my eye out with the flag pole she was holding. She kept waving it around at shoulder height. However, I decided that literal violets had not been intended so just ducked.
