Ah terrific, they've denounced JK Rowling (to whom they owe their existence) and are donating part of their takings to Scottish Trans Alliance:
"Many of you may be aware of JK Rowling's recent tweets concerning transgender issues. We have been very saddened and dismayed by these and do not condone the views she expressed in any way.
It’s a difficult time to be a Harry Potter fan for many but we sincerely wish JK Rowling’s views not to diminish our appreciation of the books and their messages of inclusion and tolerance."

@Gingerkittykat

Grab a wand and join your robed guide on the original tour in Edinburgh designed for Harry Potter fans! You'll discover magical locations that inspired characters and scenes in the series, visit places where JK Rowling wrote the books and even learn a spell or two along the way

Hypocrites!

Are they not also lying? If they pretend Diagon Alley is a particular place, even though the author says it is not, aren't they just making things up?

What else are they misrepresenting on the tour?

Apart from being unscrupulous hypocrites.

So, it is cash in hand.

So, it is cash in hand.
It would appear so...!

I know she probably doesn’t want the hassle, and frankly I need the next Strike/Ellacott book, but MY GOD this sort of thing makes me long to see her flex her bank account and hire a razor sharp QC to shut all these parasites down.

And the handwringing ungrateful Harry Potter actors can sod off as well.

Datun · 09/08/2021 07:54

If she's loath to affect someone's livelihood, she could just ask them to substantiate their claims, or stop making them. I'm sure many of these people haven't actually read what she wrote.

MsTSwift · 09/08/2021 08:11

Those deeply average actors that owe all their success to her yet stabbed her in the back (Daniel thingy soppy Emma and the dreadful posh one) can all sod off too.

@Cheshirewife

Sometimes unpleasant people come up with great works.

Spacey is another example. You might not like the person or share their views but you can still enjoy their work.

What is unpleasant about defending women and children's privacy, safety and dignity? Jo writes fantasy but she doesn't have to believe it. And neither do the rest of us. Such nauseating hypocrisy from these parasites, leeching off her work. Angry

Slight tangent but Dan Radcliffe has said he would love a part on a HP reboot and fancies the roles of Remus or Sirius. The absolute arrogance of him! First I thought I hope JKR is still has influence in any HP casting and doesn't offer him a part, then I thought maybe she could offer him the post of one of the goblins at Gringotts that Harry walks past when he first goes in.

So a woman who spoke up for women, is comparable to an alleged sex abuser?! Wow, your misogyny is showing.

@Viviennemary

Good. Sick to death of Rowlings anti trans stand. It should be made a hate crime.
Dear god, grow up. Honestly, if you think what she said was hate, then you’ve led an exceptionally pampered, spoilt, privileged little life.
Jaysmith71 · 09/08/2021 13:36

"Dan Radcliffe has said he would love a part on a HP reboot..."

No reboots. Just more sequels on the Adrian Mole model as Potter sinks into an Updikesque middle-aged mediocrity of disappointment and disillusion.

Could call it, "Radcliffe is Rich"

QuimReaper · 09/08/2021 13:39

Have they taken down the statement? I can't see it on the website.

EightiesRobot · 09/08/2021 13:43

Nope. Still there under 'About'

QuimReaper · 09/08/2021 13:44

Oh sorry, it's still there, you just have to scroll.

OneEpisode · 09/08/2021 13:53

They seem to have competitors, are unlicensed by JKR/publishers/Warner Brothers, and one of their features is not taking bookings or issuing tickets, (which would make it easier not to pay tax?) Surely all JKR fans have to do is use a competitor?
