The manager in this video says that the person claimed to be transgender so they had to led him into the women's spa because they're not allowed to discriminate against transgender people. Local laws say that this means a man claiming to be a woman has to be treated the same as a woman.

Yes - there does seem to be a persistent misunderstanding, despite the coverage of the story.

1 There was an intact adult male in the female-only spa area.

2 Several distressed customers attempted to get security or staff to intervene.

3 Staff refused on the grounds (it seems) that the adult in question might be transgender and it would be illegal to ask for clarification.

Oddly enough, given some of the videos doing the rounds, with people using public facilities for their own political purposes - I've no idea what the legal status is of filming a naked male adult next to a young femal child in such circumstances would be. In the UK, I'm fairly sure that is material that should never be on your phone or elsewhere.

Just occurred to me - that article quotes WiSpa as saying their recirds did not show that anynof their regular trans customers had signed in dueing that time. Yet the receptionist seemed sure that whoever was in the women's spa was a transwoman. So which was it? Or did the receptionist just assume, in which case any old perve could access the women's spa at any time.

IKR? I don't know if it's just the calibre of people who plop on here, but honest to God, my estimation of the opposite sex has taken something of a dive since engaging with them over this issue. I know NAMALT, but bloody hell, it's so prevalent.
