Has anyone written to Channel4?

Hopefully some good thinking journalists will pick this up over the next few years.

We made a complaint today. Will post back if/when we get a reply. If we don't get a reply, we will escalate.

The same thing happened in OITNB a few years ago, iirc, which was when that show jumped the shark for me - Laverne Cox's sympathetic character, an MtF attracted to women and housed in a women's prison, was abused by female inmates.

Then, in real life, Laverne Cox started advocating for a sex change and freedom for Synthia China Blast, a real MtF prisoner who raped and incinerated a little girl.

It was really hard to find out the date from c4 website!

Also on the subject of Laverne Cox MTV used him in their appalling remake of the Rocky Horror Show even with all that controversial baggage (remember Kevin Hart got fired from the Oscars over tweets he made)

IMHO all part of the muddying of the waters by giving the role of Frank N Furter to Cox and i reckon future stage productions of this will now be pushng the trans angle and completely missing the point of the RHPS

sorry if slightly off topic but i am a huge fan of Rocky and was disgusted that they sullied it by giving such an iconic role to such a person

Is Hollyoaks taken seriously by the average Hollyoaks viewer/fan?

I think some do take it seriously. A lot of the comments on the episode were talking about Sally like this is a real thing. Hollyoaks is watched by impressionable young people whose critic thinking skills are still developing. I remember a few episodes really affecting my perception when I was younger (Sarah's parachuting death, for example, meant I developed an irrational fear of skydiving accidents etc.)
It's very effective propaganda at that age.

I agree - the same with the likes of Love Island etc - they may be on past watershed but we all know who they are aimed at

I used to find it more believable on a sunday morning omnibus with a hangover feeling knackered. i didn't believe any of the plots on a weeknight. hollyoaks immerse you in their thing of the moment, the other year there were two men with depression and a suicide mental health box ticked, a couple of years there were two ypund characters with cancer at once awearness box ticked, this must be the year of gender identity.
