People who think the real issue here is about people on Mumsnet laughing at terrible self indulgent dialogue and acting, and not nasty, gaslighting DARVO propaganda put out by a public broadcaster at the time a court case admitted that the validation rights of male sex offenders were more important than the safety and emotional well-being of female prisoners, are actually the ones who need to give their heads a wobble here.

Why are we nasty? The people most at risk because of the trans prison policy are women. Females. Their safety wasn't considered when drafting it, and it still isn't being considered now.

The judge at the very recent MoJ judicial review acknowledged that they're at an increased risk of sexual assault and anxiety (living in constant fear of being sexually assaulted). That's what's nasty, forcing vulnerable women into this situation.

Women have been sexually assaulted by males in prison. They're walking on eggshells. In California the female inmates are having to sleep in shifts to protect each other, they have been sexually assaulted, one has been punched so hard by a male that she couldn't eat her food for three days, and the guards have told these women to just 'fight back' They're also handing out condoms, presumably to prevent any 'evidence' of these rapes being created.

That's the truth, unlike this DARVO, gaslighting piece of propaganda that's been produced.

My beautiful daughter is kind, generous, loving and gentle and would never harm anyone. However she was born male.

I hope to god she never meets anyone on this thread but I know she will have to deal with these attitudes her whole life.

Why do her feelings matter less than anyone else's???

Most mothers would say this about their sons. Should we accept all such permission slips from mothers for any male?

But if your daughter is kind, generous, loving and gentle and would never harm anyone, then presumably the women here have nothing to worry about as your daughter would not intrude on a female-only space, realising the discomfort this would cause women. Not only directly, but by opening the door to other males.

I don't care about your child's feelings, tbh.

This is about lies being promoted that suggest a transwoman is at risk of violence by women in prison, when in fact the opposite is the case, and at least half of all known trans prisoner are sex offenders. The law actually says it fine to lock rapists up with women so long as they are transwomen.

Lies are being told that will harm women. That is unacceptable.

We're not talking about your child. We're talking about a ludicrous storyline in a soap opera which distorts facts very badly.

The character is a murderer and is placed in a woman's prison, despite being a violent offender. They are then assaulted by female inmates.

It's offensive bollocks.

The only person who appears to be drawing parallels between this character and your child is you.

I just used the search function to find specific words (CTRL+F), and the only person that has used the word 'disgusting' on this thread is you, accusing us of using it

I do know trans people. One is a relative, one is a friend, both lovely people, but that's irrelevant.

I also know a lot of good, decent men too that would never dream of hurting women. That doesn't mean that all men are good and decent.

People are rightly pissed off at this storyline, especially the timing, because the rights of actual convicted male sex offenders have been declared more important than the safety of vulnerable women, many who have history of sexual assaults, abuse, etc.

I didn't watch it. Was there a reason given for why Sally was attacked?

According to the clips Hollyoaks shared, it was because a gang took a dislike to Sally for not being a real woman.
The actor claimed they were GC. I mean, seriously, it's really, really blatant.

I think everyone on this thread would be polite and pleasant to your child if they were to meet.

Stop running with the hyperbole that women who believe sex matters are a threat to your child. You are doing them a huge disservice.

Perhaps start talking to your child about how transgender people can find better acceptance in society and better access to facilities without removing sex-based rights.

We will all support you in that.

To clarify you are doing your child a huge disservice. They will not have an easy pass to navigate, they may have to learn just because they want something to be true it doesn’t make it so.

Insults and calling women names will not make your child’s life easier. Looking for solutions and new ways may!
