She seems to think the tribunal is a platform to promote her beliefs
This. I agree with PPs, there is absolutely zero chance of her not being struck off (the only way to avoid it would have been for her to grovel and say she had been misguided but had now seen the error of her ways, and she would have needed to do that from day one). The GMC hates lack of insight/remorse, and they come down far heavier on you if you don’t look particularly repentant.
And yes this is not about what she was or wasn’t prescribing, it’s about lack of oversight/engagement with revalidation/inadequate framework for monitoring of patients. Wheeling out grateful patients has zero bearing on that. The GMC are also not stupid, and will be well aware of GenderGP’s activities in Spain, and will see that as an aggravating factor.
She is giving loads of interviews etc to try to increase awareness of her services on the back of all of this free publicity. If she can chance the narrative from “I’m a sloppy doctor who fails to adequately assess patients” to “hey everybody if you want puberty blockers, I hand them out like smarties to anyone who wants them”, she will make more money, simple as that. She is definitely getting struck off either way, might as well make some cash while she’s at it.
And no I have no idea what has possessed her husband, but then I had no idea what possessed Andrew Wakefield, successful and respected consultant gastroenterologist at leading London teaching hospital either. Plenty of private income opportunities in Hampstead if you want to make money. But instead he went completely mental.
