What are they trying to do here with the photo of ‘Jennie’ and her friend on the bed? Makes me extremely uncomfortable.

I’ve seen that pic before somewhere. Yes it is massively inappropriate and really, really creepy.

risefromyourgrave · 02/07/2021 06:49

Yeah, that’s not creepy as all get out…..

BadGherkin · 02/07/2021 06:52

Who would let their child be photographed like that? Never in a million years is that reasonable.

FreeBritnee · 02/07/2021 06:53

It mixing sex with sexuality and conflating children’s interests with adults agendas. It’s extremely problematic.

Frogsonglue · 02/07/2021 06:54

This whole piece reads like some sort of Starbucks advertorial too. It's very weird and sinister.

Nonmaquillee · 02/07/2021 06:56

It’s sinister and repulsive too.
And the non-subtle promotion of Starbucks means I will never be buying coffee from them again.

Caaarrrl · 02/07/2021 06:56

How can anyone not see the danger? I despair for safeguarding.

silliphant · 02/07/2021 07:00

Holy shit that's bad.

adviceseekingnamechanger · 02/07/2021 07:07

Amazing how all these trans children coincidentally feel really validated by... Starbucks. What gross, manipulative advertising. And a totally inappropriate photo to boot.

StandUpStraight · 02/07/2021 07:08

There are no words.

SquirrelFan · 02/07/2021 07:12

Creepy as sh*t.

WarriorN · 02/07/2021 07:24

There's a disgusting trend in drag for imitating dead young girls.

AfternoonToffee · 02/07/2021 07:27

I don't drink coffee, but if I did and I went to Starbucks surely they would just write any name that I said whether that was Boris or Doris. Part of me can understand that it must feel positive when they call your new name but I mainly feel that the people in the article are simply being used by Starbucks.

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 02/07/2021 07:31

It reads like an advertorial for Starbucks because it is one. It’s obviously part of that campaign they had with the biscuits a year or two ago. It’s a neat idea about Starbucks being a place to try a new name, but as you say, creepy as fuck.

Leafstamp · 02/07/2021 07:31

I echo above comments.

SwanShaped · 02/07/2021 07:31

Ducking hell. What’s with the sex doll lips too. I mean, do the kids know what they look like? Why is no one saying to them?

Whatwouldscullydo · 02/07/2021 07:37

I cant think of any situation outside of a parent where youd allow an adult not only in a child's bedroom but that close to them. That would make you shudder even if it was an uncle or grandad.

Why are trans kids seemingly not entitled to the same levels of safeguarding as other children. Its horrifying

FakeFruitShoot · 02/07/2021 07:38

Mermaids is just extremely problematic. And yes, reads like one of those "Advertorials" for Starbucks. Awful.

WarriorN · 02/07/2021 07:40

Exactly what, swap the clothes, make up and hair for jeans and a sweater, 5 o'clock shadow, ditch the pink and blue decor and you've a child cuddling a strange man in his bedroom.

NashvilleQueen · 02/07/2021 07:42

Who is the other person with Jennie?? What's it supposed to show? That she likes playing weird dress up with a drag artist?

Also those words are not Jennie's. As others have said they've been drafted by a PR person.

BraveBananaBadge · 02/07/2021 07:44

It looks as if that picture could be a staged meet and greet at an event.

The boy who chose his new name by social media poll was a depressing insight into what that could all be about.

Whatwouldscullydo · 02/07/2021 07:45

Drs, teachers etc, people who know about safguarding, wouldn't even put themselves in that situation in a million years. An adult willing to do that. Well.massive red flag. But then we've seen 3 year olds crawling over drag Queens in libraries too . Parents have lost the plot not only standing there watching but taking a bloody photo too
