Seriously? I am just sick of this. Kettled into the corner by mumsnet, conferences threatened, representatives of the Fawcett society screaming victim and attacking women because she fails to do the one job that she is in that position to do.

Pffft. Maddening. Am off to buy a ticket for the conference! I hear it’s a hoot Grin

Sunkisses · 17/06/2021 07:04

I hope the same lawyers who acted for Maya Forstater can be instructed by Filia, and they can contact the Portsmouth Guildhall, and ask them to ignore these nasty authoritarians who wish to prevent women from meeting, and explain about discrimination on the basis of belief if they do cancel the booking. Good luck Filia!

It’s absolutely brilliant & well worth going.
highame · 17/06/2021 07:10

I live about 9 miles from the venue so was thinking of going this year. Will definitely go.

Given the impact of Covid, the Guildhall can't afford to be sued

Cwenthryth · 17/06/2021 07:12

IIRC the FiLiA team include at least one excellent legal mind anyway.

I’m fuming at this and have just emailed Portsmouth Guildhall in support of them and FiLiA, and reported the harrassment to Hampshire Constabulary. It takes a few minutes online and was very easy to do. It seems quite straightforward that this is harassment on the grounds of a protected characteristic.

I’m going in October, very much looking forward to it!

Thingybob · 17/06/2021 07:20

I'm sure the Portsmouth Guildhall know who Filia are and doubt they will take much notice of a bunch of silly teenagers and some random odd balls having a tantrum.

Maskless · 17/06/2021 07:30

I'm shocked at the obvious lie that women are being harassed out of the female toilets if they don't look sufficiently feminine.

These "antifa" are lunatics.

Cwenthryth · 17/06/2021 07:32

If those silly teenagers and random oddballs are harassing people at work on grounds of a protected characteristic, it’s still not on no matter how stoic those workers are.

toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/06/2021 07:36

These Antifa remind me of the student tits your find propping up the union bar, spouting utter nonsense about saving the underclasses.

Thick as mince and just looking for someone to attack/pick a fight with (never with the 6”3 guy with a swastika tattoo on their face).

And if you see the photos of some of their ‘chapters’... 5 teen wet wipes with pink or blue hair trying to look like Che but looking more wile Wolfie Smith...

Recent post from Filia on Facebook: fb.watch/6aH9QRK-WJ/

Thank you to all the Wonderful Women who took it upon themselves to write to Portsmouth Guildhall in support of FiLiA.

In the face of malicious claims by the (supposedly) anti-Fascist groups of Southampton and Portsmouth about our organisation, we are really grateful for your show of Solidarity.

The venue for our annual conference have reached out to us to ask if those writing in could please stop now, as they have received so many, that they are struggling to keep up and get on with their day-to-day job!

Thank you again, and do sign up to our weekly newsletter if you want to know what FiLiA is really about.

Haha, that’ll learn me (I’m not on Facebook so get my info via Twitter and here!)

Fantastic to hear that there has been such a show of support for FiLiA though.

Why are those who claim to be anti fascist always the biggest fascists....

Isn’t it!

At the last one in Bradford I seem to remember there was some pillock wandering around outside with a placard but I don’t think anyone paid much attention to them.

BraveBananaBadge · 17/06/2021 09:11

Anti-hate group doesn't seem to know what a hate group is, then. Bit worrying.

I used to work with a couple of self identified antifa types. They weren't shy about how they were attending demos to engage in violence. Opened my eyes up to they type of people who were involved in the circles.
purpleboy · 17/06/2021 09:25

I love the way this backfired on them though! They must feel like right idiots now.

TheWeeDonkey · 17/06/2021 09:28

Oh the hyperbole is giving me a headache, its like the rantings of a hormonal teenager, it would be funny if it wasn't so deranged. "Gatekeeping womanhood"? And how could any woman, least of all a woman who has discovered feminism, understand how it feels to be harassed, fetishised or attacked? 😒

bellinisurge · 17/06/2021 09:32

Just bought a "solidarity ticket". I can't go but someone else might be able to and can't afford it. Not sure how you access a solidarity ticket but check it out if you want to go.
In any case, they have my support

I didn't know you could buy a solidarity ticket, it's an excellent idea. I also can't make it, so will buy one of these
toffeebutterpopcorn · 17/06/2021 09:52

Nice idea that...

vivariumvivariumsvivaria · 17/06/2021 10:00

FILIA is amazing.

I am generally amazed by the amount of bat shittery against women that is going on.

It's as if King James the I and VI has resurrected himself. I'm not even joking.

Here is a link for anyone who wants to buy tickets or solidarity tickets.

IheartJKR · 17/06/2021 10:56

I went to FiLiA in Bradford and as we were marching in solidarity with survivors of sex trafficking we were approached angrily by a group of men who demanded to know what we were going to do about Palestine.

FiLiA do great work, they won’t be putting me off this year. Pathetic.
