Seriously? I am just sick of this. Kettled into the corner by mumsnet, conferences threatened, representatives of the Fawcett society screaming victim and attacking women because she fails to do the one job that she is in that position to do.

FiLiA will be just full of witches who don’t burn Grin

MiladyBerserko · 18/06/2021 00:24

I'm the head of the International Group of Powerful Lesbians

But don't tell anyone.

Especially my husband

@ShowOfHands

I would like to take teenaged dd along. She's 14, a fierce feminist and mature. Would you recommend it if you've been?
I've been a couple of times. There used to be special workshops for teens.

The talks proceed with caution. One I was at a woman left with s teen girl who was in tears half way through.

NiceGerbil · 18/06/2021 01:53

I wondered why filia hadn't been targeted before tbh.

MrsTerryPratchett · 18/06/2021 02:07

I've bought a solidarity ticket. Cheap at the price.

MoltenLasagne · 18/06/2021 03:21

Just bought a solidarity ticket too, great idea and all thanks to antifa and their anti women idiocy.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 18/06/2021 07:57

From that “Southampton antifascists” post:

for those of you who view this as cancel culture please imagine the tangible fear you would feel if you were to be consistently harassed, fetishised, attacked and ultimately murdered for just being who you are.

“Please imagine.” FFS.

Is off the scale irony arising out of a total refusal to listen to women and acknowledge our reality, or is it deliberate trolling?

It’s the usual misogynistic bullying dressed up as a social justice crusade, at any rate.

One day I hope there’s an actual enquiry into how this shit was ever allowed to happen (and not just enabled but promoted by the authorities) in our supposedly civilised, democratic society.

Interesting though to see that they’re worried about the accusation of cancel culture and feel the need to defend themselves against that charge. Not worried about accusations of misogyny of course, only about what other men might say about them, but it’s a step. I suppose.

ShowOfHands · 18/06/2021 10:10

It's almost like we are looking in a mirror isn't it? Except it's distorted. Like a fun house mirror. Without the fun.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 18/06/2021 10:17

I know, I thought that was interesting too!

[head in hands in agreement emoji needed]

Can I imagine, can I? Can I actually count the number of times that I've been assaulted or attacked or harassed?

No. And that's because they're too numerous to count.

I could probably make a decent estimate of how many times I've sustained a fracture or similar injury that needed extensive treatment. Too many women wouldn't be able to estimate that because, again, "too numerous to count" would be their response.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 18/06/2021 10:28

Like a fun house mirror. Without the fun.

Yeah. The whole thing is one big, very unfunny DARVO/reversal.

Wankers.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 18/06/2021 10:28

Great minds, Eresh Grin

Ravenclawsome · 18/06/2021 10:30

They really don't get that butch women being questioned in a female space is a direct consequence of them blurring the boundaries and forcing males onto us in single sex spaces.
Now we have reason to be more suspicious

Ravenclawsome · 18/06/2021 10:31

Not that I think it happens nearly as often as they make out

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 18/06/2021 10:31

The use of the word “fetishised* in that sentence is particularly grating.

I would elucidate but for obvious reasons I can’t.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 18/06/2021 10:31

Agreed on both counts Ravenclawsome.

TalkingtoLangClegintheDark · 18/06/2021 10:35

And going back to the “fetishised” thing, let’s remember who it is who is actually perpetrating that, or any of the things on that list, to the extent that they do happen to biologically male trans people (which I contend is way less than how much they happen to us).

Because it’s not feminists. Not women.

noneedtoexpelme · 18/06/2021 13:27

Bradford was brilliant. Can't go this year so thanks for the link to the solidarity ticket option. Just bought one.

noneedtoexpelme · 18/06/2021 13:29

Show of hands - yes take your 14 year old x she will love it.

noneedtoexpelme · 18/06/2021 13:31

Also the security in Bradford were some fierce women, including the magnificent Leanne from Get the L Out.

Cwenthryth · 18/06/2021 13:41

I’ve just signed up to monthly donations for FiLiA from a link in their latest email update, it was very easy on their website.
filia.org.uk/friends-of-filia
You can do £1, £5, £10 a month.

They’ve reached their crowdfunding target as well so are secure even if Covid means this years conference can’t go ahead. Yay!

Next 2 years are in Cardiff and then Glasgow!

purpleboy · 18/06/2021 13:47

I believe Leanne is the head of security for the conference.

They were brilliant. Totally hardcore and taking no prisoners against any nonsense.
noneedtoexpelme · 18/06/2021 16:16

Yes - I felt very safe!

IntoAir · 18/06/2021 17:09

Thanks for this. It's reminded me to buy my ticket!
