That Novara Media piece he is trying to cite as evidence that most people support TRA goals is full of lies and half truths. Fails to mention that when asked if MTF trans people who had not had reassignment surgery should be able to use women's spaces, the answer was no. Didn't mention the Helen Staniland poll or those by Wings over Scotland which clarified the question too.

Most of those comments are unintentionally funny.

I don't wish to alarm anybody but I've discovered under that post a thread of people having an actual adult discussion. With polite words and everything. It's very refreshing (no doubt it'll be derailed and kick off soon, but it's been lovely reading people actually talking about the issues)

And yet the argument that you should only discuss female only spaces if you’re female never seems to catch on...

We’ll see more and more slurs on those of us with rational arguments for child safeguarding and retaining sex based rights now “no debate” has failed as a tactic. Emotive language is all they’ve got left. In the real world, however, more and more people are becoming aware of the issues, and most (rightfully) want trans people to be able to live their lives in peace but (equally rightfully) don’t want women or children harmed by the abolishment of sex-based rights or safeguarding. I listened to some men chatting in a beer garden yesterday, about transwomen wanting to compete in female sport categories. I didn’t hear any fear or hatred of TW, but “it’d just be unfair,” was agreed all round very quickly.

From what I understand the benefits accrue before puberty. I may be doing these men a disservice, but I suspect that they intuitively know the truth without even knowing the science that proves them right.

That is the one thing that us men have an ABSOLUTE right to speak out on. I can have my opinion that women's sex based spaces should be protected, but ultimately that opinion should be given very little weight - I am not a woman!

We should be challenging TRA men CONSTANTLY to justify on what basis they have a moral right to give away women's rights. I note that no man online has ever even attempted to answer me. I asked Owen Jones today by PM on facebook, but I doubt he'll see it, let alone read it, let alone reply.

No. He's so last year. People are rapidly losing interest. And his opinions are based on whimsical fairy dust. Not facts. So dull. Attention seeker that he is.

I think he is very good generally, but he has lost my respect and my ear over this issue.

I don't pay much attention to LOJ but his name only seems to come up when he's throwing insults - usually at women who dare to hold an opinion different to his. As a journalist, why doesn't he spend more time writing well researched balanced articles on the issues and less time having tantrums with people on the Internet Surely if he really did want to support trans rights he'd be much more helpful doing that rather than alienating more and more people with his trite slurs and refusal to engage.

He's actually very good at understanding what a woman is when it suits him....

I think it's fair to say that he's intelligent enough to understand that he and his pal Shon "women enjoy your erasure" Faye aren't going to produce a baby however much they stroke each other's ego's.

It is very odd! You’re not missing much. It’s all:

Men who hate women and love having a good excuse to air that hatred.
Women who hate other women and love having a good excuse to air that hatred.
Women stating women deserve female only safe spaces.
Women asking for a kind debate, only to find out that they actually agree with the gender criticals, then being hit by a wave of self hatred and doubling down on the TWAW mantra.

Apart from Jeremy Corbyn and the other people whose tanking of the Labour Party he cheered on for four years.

Actually Owen liked Corbyn when he was popular, turned against him when the Labour MPs tried to get rid of him, then supported him again when that failed. This is because he has no principles of any kind.
