Wishing her the very best of luck. twitter.com/MForstater/status/1402310977115279362?s=20

I'll be absolutely gutted if the original decision isn't overturned, but at least her case has let a lot of sunlight in.

Woman's Hour had wanted to record an interview with Maya on the day of the verdict as an exclusive and then edit and broadcast it at their leisure.

Cailleach1 · 10/06/2021 19:16

@Defaultname

The Youtube is Miss Otis Regrets.
Thanks for posting that. It was so beautiful. Sad, but beautiful. Ella's voice like rich warm honey.

The TRAs are arguing on Twitter that if GC feminists want their own spaces then they should campaign for them.

Fucking hell. The sheer nerve and ignorance of that.

Maya played a blinder and we’re all better off for it (and I mean all of society). Huge admiration and congratulations.

What exactly do they think the campaigns to retain the right to single sex spaces is!??! Grin

Not so much for some people with the ability to engage critical thinking.
Cwenthryth · 10/06/2021 20:53

Like the time that Dr Haddock tweeted that there should be toilets just for T**Fs to keep them away from transwomen (so tw would be ‘safe’ from us) and GC women were like.....yeah we’d be down with that Ade 😂

I can't see why anyone would agree to that.

Surely if you have just won an important court case, you want the freedom to go round and do interviews with several radio/television/media outlets and celebrate a bit. Why tie yourself to one outlet.

That is before you even start to think about how your interview could be presented in a way that does not give a clear interpretation of the court case, then you have no way to change it and you can't go elsewhere.

Has this been posted?

If so, worth another!

Excellent interview with Maya who really explains the background and today's ruling

Surely this Judgement will have a positive impact on Allison Bailey's case?

Northernlurker · 10/06/2021 21:25

My workplace has suggested we can share pronouns in order to make other people more comfortable. Try as I might I cannot work that one out.

nauticant · 10/06/2021 21:42

If everyone uses pronouns then trans people won't feel out of place using pronouns. The reason it's important for trans people to use pronouns is so that it tips-off a colleague prior to meeting in person or over the phone/Internet and the colleague can have their poker face in place.

nauticant · 10/06/2021 21:47

How should the trans activists respond to the adverse decision today? I suppose one way would be to examine their demands with respect to public acceptance and to reformulate them so that they can improve the level of public support they can get.

Alternatively they could look to prominent trans activists for new ways to be abusive in a sexually harassing way towards women:

Seems to be a restricted account (I can't see it anyone, I don't know if someone with an account can).

Yeah, that's not going to work, Stavvers, love. The GC people that exist outside of your head aren't the stitched up prudes you like to imagine they are.

Geez, these people are insufferably boring.

ScreamingMeMe · 10/06/2021 21:55

@EmbarrassingAdmissions.

She's so cool. Much cooler than us. So, so cool. She practically invented sex and drugs and rock and roll all by herself.

SengaMac · 10/06/2021 21:56

I'd use 'they' or a person's name, if I wasn't sure.
Using wrong pronouns makes me uncomfortable and is compelling me to say something that I don't believe.
Unless pronouns are completely arbitrary in which case why not 'they' for everyone?

I can cope with using a 'feminine' name for a male, or a 'masculine' one for a female, because names aren't securely tied to sexes in the way pronouns are.

If that's the best they've got the bar is set on the floor.

I'm sure that OJ would reassure stavvers of being so much cooler and edgier than everyone on MN. And who wouldn't long for that endorsement.

EwwSprouts · 10/06/2021 22:03

Coming up on BBC News at 10.

LizzieSiddal · 10/06/2021 22:07

It’s in Sky too.

LizzieSiddal · 10/06/2021 22:07

Sorry, I meant Maya judgement is on Sky News

UnnecessaryFennel · 10/06/2021 22:19

Ugh, stavvers is tedious beyond belief. A 40-something woman talking about 'boning' is just so fucking try-hard. Embarrassing.

WinterTrees · 10/06/2021 22:29

BBC news featured the fragrant Jane (extreme porn advocate) Fae, saying that some trans people were so scared they were thinking of leaving the country.

I'm not even going to comment on that.

ScreamingMeMe · 10/06/2021 22:33

Oh good grief.

Didn't Jane also claim to be "terrified" of Jenni Murray.

Sure, Jan Jane

Mollyollydolly · 10/06/2021 22:34

I love this photo. Sleep well tonight Maya .. hope the hangover isn't too bad!
