Tonia Antoniazzi MP calls for biological sex of criminals to be accurately recorded

Just wow really. Is the tide really turning? Is Labour really listening?

Labour MP for Gower, Tonia Antoniazzi, during the Commons debate on crime and safe streets for all, said:

Data must be accurately sex-disaggregated in order to fully understand the impact of all crimes on women and girls. In order to combat sexism, we need to count sex, and in order to combat discrimination against other groups, there is a need to record separate and additional data. The offending patterns of men and of women show the highest differential of all, so we need to monitor the sex of victims and of perpetrators of all crimes.....

‘I understand that at least 16 regional police forces now record suspects’ sex on the basis of gender identity, following the advice of the National Police Chiefs’ Council. Data based only on self-identified gender does not give accurate data on which to build a violence against women and girls strategy, nor to effectively plan services that support all victims and target all perpetrators whatever their sex or however they identify.

‘If police records are not robust and correctly disaggregated by sex, we end up with unreliable and potentially misleading data in reporting. For example, the BBC asked 45 regional police forces in the UK for data on reported cases of female perpetrators’ child sex abuse from 2015 to 2019. The data received indicated that there was an increase of 84 per cent. Data corruption means that we cannot tell whether this large increase is due to an increase in female offenders or those identifying as women, and that detail matters.

‘Women make up 3 per cent of the arrests for all sexual offences. The number of women convicted for these crimes is so low that the mis-recording of the sex of the perpetrator skews the data very quickly. Where offence categories are very rarely committed by women, the addition of just one or two people can have a significant impact on data. For example, a biological man convicted of attempted murder and other offences at Birmingham Crown court in 2017 was recorded as female, thus falsely elevating the number of females convicted of attempted murder that year in England and Wales by around 20 per cent. We need to know what action the Government will take to ensure correct police record keeping and prevent the potential corruption of data on crimes and their impact on women and girls.’*

It really is mind blowing that we are in this situation and need to address it in the first place. Men just saying they're women. And everyone falls in line. It's so ridiculous, it's difficult to believe.

From James Kirkup's article

In a few months in 2018, I collected dozens of private accounts from serving parliamentarians from several parties, who said they believed that some policies and practices aimed at benefiting trans people could have adverse effects on other people’s rights, status and services, especially women. Yet almost none of those politicians would say so publicly, because they felt the climate around the issue was simply too hostile and toxic.

Absolutely shameful. It's their bloody job.

Mind boggling, isn't it?

I’ve emailed my thanks to Tonia. I hope she receives enough support to encourage other Labour MPs to speak up. Oh I know, unlikely, but I can dream ...

ChattyLion · 19/05/2021 06:47

YES!!!! Star ‘Data corruption’ is exactly what this is.
Thank god, finally!!
I am about to email her to thank her, copying in Starmer and our constituency MP: This is a cross party issue and what she’s done is brave and principled. She will be getting so much shit for saying this. Starmer should be reminded of #Labourlosingwomen over this issue at every opportunity so that he can reflect on the negligent misogynistic idiocy that he’s been supporting. I hope can finally begin to support his female MPs who speak up like Tonia Antoniazzi and Rosie Duffield. Flowers

Good idea my MP is a conservative woman so would be good to copy her in.

ChilliWillies · 19/05/2021 07:15

I’ve just emailed her to thank her and asked her to consider other elements such as placing people in prisons based on Dec not gender identity, so women in prisons are not endangered by violent men.

AgnesWaterhouse1566 · 19/05/2021 07:26

Fantastic speech and yy to how horrifying that it needs to be said. As a very disillusioned life long labour voter this is good to see.

Lifeaintalwaysempty · 19/05/2021 07:29

Fantastic. But how astonishing that this very basic and obvious point is having to be argued.

SpilltheTea · 19/05/2021 07:42

At least there's still people out there not conforming to the agenda of the woke police.

Vebrithien · 19/05/2021 07:51

Just about to email my thanks.

My MP is a Lib Dem (female). Shall I copy her in, or write a separate email? She is very sensible on local matters, but I can't find out anything about her stance on women/self-ID.

The LibDems have been completely captured. You are very unlikely to get a sensible answer - I tried repeatedly, ended up resigning from the party, and spoilt my last ballot paper.

I have emailed and thanked her. I'll send a copy to my MP - female, labour. I'm hopeless re following politics so I don't know my own MP's stance on sex vs gender...how would I find out?

TedImgoingmad · 19/05/2021 08:47

Shout out to James Kirkup, once again covering the crucial issue of the protection of sex based rights, which so called liberal media (bloody Guardian and Independent) seem to have washed their hands of.

I have emailed Tonia and will copy in my MP too.

Write to them and ask them. I had a zoom meeting with mine where we discussed this issue thoroughly.

Well if she had said anything out loud, you'd probably have heard of her being vilified by now. Maybe just ask her. I asked my MP (male, Tory), got a lot of fence sitting waffle in return, but at least I said my piece.

I have emailed my thanks too. Small green shoots and all that.

SunsetBeetch · 19/05/2021 09:59

@Mollyollydolly

She's probably not had as much kickback because she was speaking in Parliament. To a lot of activists twitter is the real world, they don't seem to notice things iike this.
Crazy but probably true!
northstars · 19/05/2021 10:27

Wonderful! I have emailed thanks as well. So disappointed in my own female Labour MP, but so impressed with what Tonia said.

Phone your MP's constituency office and arrange a one-to-one Zoom meeting, or maybe even a face-to-face meeting. Or as we move back to normality post-Covid, check when she's holding her next surgery in your area and turn up and ask why she hasn't been active in opposing gender ideology. Hold Tonia Antoniazzi up as the example you want her to emulate and give her three questions you'd like her to raise. Tell her that this is really, really important to you. I'm told that female MPs across the parties are increasingly getting together behind the scenes and organising. Tonia Antoniazzi is playing a blinder. She's not rushing in all guns firing, she's carefully choosen the opportunity to make a important point in a way that no rational person can object to.
MumzeeWarrior · 11/08/2022 06:31

Tonia Antoniazzi is my MP. When my daughters YouTube Lego name got used for LEGO BONDAGE against our WILL and the evil people tried to over take her in the search engines, I got ignored by Elite MEN. But my MP Tonia Antoniazzi did not ignore me. She did something about it. Tonia got that revolting Lego Bondage image taken off the Internet. I cannot thank my FEMALE MP TONIA ANTONIAZZI enough. I know damn well that a Male MP would have swept it under the carpet as us MOTHERS (WOMEN) are not valued in our world, especially not in the UK. Let me remind these ELITE men if it was not for their mothers they would not be alive today! How dare they destroy our Safe Spaces and put children and women in serious danger with their false Police recordings of transwomen on women's crime reports. .

I am so glad I Home Educated because leaving education in the hands of Elite Men who obviously do not value us as Women, why on earth would they care about our children? Do they even know what a child is? All they seem to care about is teaching our children s-x. Where is the real education? Now they have made Prostitution into a Job by promoting it in Universities and on the media to students. Get an education by being a s-x worker. What the hell is wrong with this revolting Country?

I WANT THE UK GOVERNMENT TO SEE WHAT ALL THEIR OVERSEXED GROOMING HAS DONE TO OUR CHILDREN:

Swansea, Wales 📍 LOOSEST CITY UK 😮

When young men boast about sleeping with their sister, and want to sleep with their mother. You know something is seriously wrong! Stop promoting Alfred Kinsey in our school he was a damn right monster who believed babies are s-xual at birth and women enjoy rape. UTTER AND DAMNRIGHT LIES.

I was lucky enough to have liaised with Child Activist Dr Judith Reisman. No matter what people feel about this women, at least she cared about children and stopped Paedophile Information Exchange from promoting child abuse in our Universities. Attached is Dr Reisman's Witness Statement.

If you have children in school. You need to watch this video and see how Dr Judith Reisman won a Court Case in Croatia against Alfred Kinsey's S-x Education which is in ALL OUR SCHOOLS:

Judith Reisman i Tim Tate govore u Hrvatskom saboru

I have been gagged for too long. Our children deserve a better world and so do us Mothers (WOMEN). We have value and must be respected!

Tonia is my MP too and the best we’ve had in Gower. Will be writing to thank her.

ScrollingLeaves · 11/08/2022 15:02

Do you remember there was a petition about this and in the response the police stated they would not be able to check any criminals’ actual sex?

This struck me as disingenuous and ironic given how ready, the Child Q case revealed, the police seem to be to strip search children. (And female academics- given another case of strip searching in the news.)

See this excerpt from the response to the petition (my bold):
Officials have noted that ‘biological sex’ has not been defined in the petition. If ‘biological sex’ is defined in terms of anatomy, or chromosomes, then there would be both ethical and logistical challenges for the police or the HMPPS in determining this for every arrested suspect or prisoner. For instance, it would not be appropriate for the police or HMPPS to physically examine every suspect/prisoner in order to determine ‘biological sex’ if it had one of these meanings. Accordingly, there are no plans for the police or HMPPS to record the biological sex of prisoners.

Abitofalark · 11/08/2022 15:25

Oh yes, disingenuous. It looks like they've thrown in a mix of a couple of logical fallacies to shore it up, including begging the question and a non sequitur.

I was pleased to see in the opening post that the word 'sex' was used by Tonia Antoniazzi in the extract from her speech. No need to qualify it.
