Depends how you define sex, of course. If it is something that depends on how the individual feels, then it can alter from day to day. If it is something which is based on embryonic development and DNA, it does seem to be pretty-much immutable.

@soberodent

So what, exactly, is 'normal femininity' in your opinion?

Leaving aside clothing/hair/makeup as these are matters of fashion. Take a look at pictures of aristocratic men in the 17th/18th century to see males wearing velvet jackets in bright colours, lacey shirts, high heeled shoes covered with pink silk, long curly wigs. Today a lot of clothing is unisex - indeed in my local Mountain Warehouse shop there's a picture of a family of 4 where mum, dad, son and daughter are all dressed in identical clothing - but clearly there are fashions for how men and women should dress/present that change through time.

So what, apart from this, is femininity? What are the behavioural characteristics, personality, interests, ways of seeing the world that characterise it, and which are different from masculinity?

So, apart from

the difference is when a cisgender woman performs "normal" femininity, transphobes like yourself have virtually no problem with it most of the time. however, whenever a transgender woman performs "normal" femininity

I'm sorry, what?

AskingQuestionsAllTheTime · 12/05/2021 17:32

HecatesCatsInFancyHats, most of the words are English, but they don't really make any sense.

I would love some sort of clue as to what in the seven hells "performs normal femininity" is supposed to convey; being female isn't a performance, it's simply a fact of life.

CardinalLolzy · 12/05/2021 17:36

soberodent

which is very much transgender children as well as girls

So transgender children and girls are separate groups of people? Your transphobia is showing.

LostToucan · 12/05/2021 17:47

I don’t perform “normal femininity” but I'm female. Which box do I belong in?

AdHominemNonSequitur · 12/05/2021 17:56
@OvaHere wow dude let me go ask my endocrinologist, multiple therapists and various other medical professionals im in contact with if science validates transgender people real quick. i cant tell u their answer for sure but spoiler alert i dont think its very sympathetic to your position tbh
Here's the endocrine societies recent ststement (not very validating I'm afraid) Rather it clarifying the extremely robust science that underpins the sex binary.

Have we still had no response to the assertion that the TT/Sex Matters advice is legally incorrect? Strange that....

@Floisme

So Robin are you having a book launch and if so,are you going to tell us when and where? I think it would be impolite not to, given the way you've been trying to flog it on here, plus it would give you a chance to answer some of those questions you've had to leave hanging on other threads.
Naomi Cunningham QC review of “A practical guide to Transgender Law” (Law Brief Publishing, 2021), Robin Moira White and Nicola Newbegin for Legal Feminist

concludes:
"If the objective of the book was to increase understanding of the law in this area, it must be judged an abject failure. Even a reader with little prior knowledge will be struck by the regularity with which the authors simply give up on the task of analysis... In some of these cases, there is genuine reason for uncertainty; in others, the law is clear enough, and the uncertainty imaginary. In both cases, readers looking for assistance will be disappointed by the authors’ repeated unwillingness even to attempt to provide it. If a pair of guides on a difficult mountain path were as consistently flummoxed as the authors of this book, their clients would be saying their prayers. In truth, there is little of either guidance or practical utility in White and Newbegin’s “practical guide”."

@RobinMoiraWhite If you think you know the law better than they do, or think this guidance will lead people to breaking the law, please contact their team immediately. I'm sure they'd be grateful for the guidance.
