Lesbian Visibility Week

ASugarr · 01/05/2021 07:39

As Lesbian Visibility Week comes to an end, I want to make a quick reminder that
ALL LESBIANS ARE VALID!

Cisgender and Transgender women can be lesbians. Transgender men who date women don't consider themselves lesbians. All Lesbians deserve visibility!

Additionally, many have stated that they don't wish to date transgender people. That's fine! Just because someone is in the same dating pool doesn't mean you MUST be attracted to them. Plus genital preference is also totally fine! But don't forget, trans women are women so please do not degrade them just because you personally don't wish to date them.

Plus, let's continue to educate one another on the important information. Like preventing STI's as a lesbian, domestic abuse in lesbian relationships and how to deal with that, safe and consentual sex between lesbians. This is what we need to be educating young lesbians and bisexual women on.

Have a fabulous long weekend all 🤍🌈

Isn't it time MN open a 'Trans' section to move threads like these to? They always end up arguing about the same disagreement and no progress is ever made.

Womens rights section should be for: Women, LGB & maybe GC Trans.
Trans rights section could be for: Transwomen/men, TransLGB, Cis, NB, Q+ etc

FrankensteinIsTheMonster · 02/05/2021 21:04

Black women are not your rhetorical tool, Asugarr.

You should acknowledge and apologise for the hurt you've caused. Dunno about anyone else but I'm not interested in anything else you have to say until you've done that.

Womens rights section should be for: Women, LGB & maybe GC Trans.

I mean I just think discussions about transgender people shouldn't be allowed on MumsNet as so much transphobic stuff already is said. Trans woman are a part of feminism though so they are included.

Trans is an adjective to describe that they were the opposite sex at birth. That's it.

But Shizuku has said that they have always been female despite saying on another thread that they are a trans woman. So which is it? Both statements can’t be true.
It’s logical inconsistencies, along with the hugely offensive racism you’ve already demonstrated that make so many of us question the trans ideology.

WoolOfBat · 02/05/2021 21:07

I am very happy that the horribly racist post was deleted.

ASugarr, I believe that you are young. We disagree on the trans issue, but please in the kindest possible way, step away from this discussion for a while.

Please think about what you are saying about black women. Most people here find it horribly racist and MNHQ have deleted your worst post. It is not ok to speak about black women the way you do. Please read your own posts, read some experiences from black people in general and black women in particular and think carefully about how your comments come across.

Assume what you want. Go ask someone who isn't white if they would want to be constantly referred to as their race and gender (constantly only called a black woman, asian woman, etc) and not just "woman" and get back to me. Trans women are women just like any other woman. Trans is just an adjective about who they are. That's it.

No one should tell others who they are
Pot, kettle.

No one is telling anyone "who they are" but acknowledging reality. I cannot take my cat to the vet and say "this is my dog who has been unwell" and expect the vet to agree no matter how much I think my cat is a dog.

Demonstrably real things exist, and no thoughts or feelings or (sigh) identification will change those real things, nor will repeating lies.

CorvusPurpureus · 02/05/2021 21:11

I think a different platform might work better for you.

I mean I just think discussions about transgender people shouldn't be allowed on MumsNet as so much transphobic stuff already is said. Trans woman are a part of feminism though so they are included.

I think you've tried quite hard to control women speaking, & it's not worked out too well for you.

Censorship isn't the answer when you don't like women speaking.

Although, to be fair, I'm glad that horrendously racist post went. That was considerably beyond polite & measured discourse.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 02/05/2021 21:11

No one said that this should happen...at all

So let’s just silence women?

Cool. 🤍

“No one should tell others who they are.”

So announcing pronouns is a no no then?
@bitheby

Who is having a go at ASugarr's brother?

ASugarr has migrated to Mumsnet recently from her very public Twitter page to tell us all about her brother on multiple occasions. She uses her brother as an example in her arguments about transpeople.

Why can't people respond in kind by asking questions about ASugarr's brother?
To be fair there isn't any more to say on the subject other than he is a man. That's kinda it.

You don't have to if you don't want to, but respect others that do.

But that's what you are implying if you think my comment was racist. That's all I stated.

Your comment WAS racist. That's why it was deleted. Because it was a horribly racist notion to come out with.

You've been asked to apologise.

RufustheBadgeringReindeer · 02/05/2021 21:15

Im not implying anything

And MNHQ believes that your comment was racist as well as other posters

Until I get an apology for others calling my brother a girl then of course not

You could have said anything

Tall women
Short women
Fat women

But you didn’t...

Then what was wrong with the comment? I could make that same comment using cisgender or cis. As a cisgender woman myself, it is just an adjective to describe who I am. But that doesn't mean I am not a woman like everyone else.
OP posts:
Nodal · 02/05/2021 21:17

Nobody called your brother a girl. Stop acting like a child.

ASugarr · 02/05/2021 21:17

Well yeah, it applies in the exact same way.

So you will stick by your racist comment until some random on the internet says sorry
