Shout out to my fellow lesbians on this important week!

I will be wearing my lesbian pride badge right next to my trans pride badge for the whole week in all public spaces.

@Blibbyblobby

They even march with us these days

“They?” But I thought you are trans, lesbian and a woman. Other trans people, lesbians and women are surely just “us” from your POV. Who exactly do you mean by “they?” Who is it you are not the same as?

(Damn those leaky abstractions!)

@bitheby

I'm amazed that this thread is still here. It's incredibly offensive.
It is pretty transphobic isn't it.

I'm confused I thought you were born being attracted to either the same or opposite sex.

How can you be a man that is now a woman and be a lesbian? You'd be hetero surely?

None of this makes sense Sad

'they' is lesbians.
bitheby · 29/04/2021 20:35

No. It says everything about you because you are being deliberately goady and we all see it.

Shizuku · 29/04/2021 20:35

Cis lesbians

Earlier you said you were born female Shizuku. I'm trying to understand what that means. Are you, what you would call, a "cis woman" since you were born female?

My understanding of this term, from people who use it, is that it means someone who identifies with their sex at birth.

You said you're a woman and a lesbian and born a female. But in another post I think you said you are a transwoman.

Can you explain what you mean when you say you're a transwoman but that you were born female?

I'm fast losing track of the definitions here so would be helpful if you could explain. [/quote]
Some people consider trans women to have always been female. You don't - that's OK. I do.

You're welcome.

Not making sense to you, and not making sense, are not quite the same thing.

But you can't be female if you have XY chromosomes... Confused

You don;t think calling a trans woman, a male abuser of women is just a teensy bit goady?

The problem is this is a black and white issue.
You can either be a lesbian. Or your not.
You can be a homosexual. Or your not.
There are no shades of Grey.

Your either alive or dead.

Not if it's true.

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/04/2021 20:39

Speaking of Allison's case earlier, I hope to fucking God that it's filmed so I can see the judges ''surprise'' as the new definition of lesbian that actually includes everyone is explained to them.

Cannae fucking wait.

Do keep up with the nuance.
justawoman · 29/04/2021 20:39

Oh, and Flowers for TinselAngel. While this thread is goady for a lesbian to read, I can only imagine it’s worse for a transwidow. Solidarity, sister

ArabellaScott · 29/04/2021 20:39

If transwomen have always been female then what does the word "cis" mean?

And for that matter, what does the word "trans" mean?

Yes, this would be good to hear an explanation of.

The nuance of what? Science? Confused

EmpressWitchDoesntBurn · 29/04/2021 20:40

@Erkrie

You know that there are loads of cis lesbians who include trans women in their dating pool, right? Or are you erasing those ones?

I would say that technically they are not lesbians either. Doesn't meet the definition. Lesbian: same sex attracted. Not same gender attracted.

Women who identify as ‘cis’ buy into gender ideology, so by definition they’re going to prioritise gender identity over biological sex - or at least claim to.

Most of the women here don’t identify as cis, or as any ‘gender’ at all. We find the term offensive. So Shizuku and ASugarr are only talking about a very specific subset of compliant women.

CorvusPurpureus · 29/04/2021 20:41

Shizuku is rather unconventional in their assertions that they, a transwoman, were 'born female'.

We are usually told that everyone understands that one cannot change sex: organisations such as Mermaids have been quite clear about this - at least recently.

Plurality of belief is, of course, welcomed by most people. However niche some beliefs are, it seems only fair that their adherents should be free to express them - & of course for the rest of us to decide whether we consider them to hold water.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 29/04/2021 20:42

Indeed. This is not a site of compliant women.

I mean I'm not asking anybody to feel sorry for me it's in the past, but imagine being a woman still in the relationship with a husband who has recently decided he is a lesbian, then coming to a feminist space hoping to find support and instead of finding support, reading this sort of goady glibness

this is a shout out to all my fellow lesbians on lesbian visibility week, including the ones who happen to be trans and their partners.
