Shout out to my fellow lesbians on this important week!

I will be wearing my lesbian pride badge right next to my trans pride badge for the whole week in all public spaces.

In my world there are many more lesbians than there are in your world, given that I don't exclude trans women or cis women who have been at some point attracted to a trans woman. So it's funny that I've been accused of erasing lesbians.

Thank you, shiz and sugar.Thank you from the bottom of my heart for so clearly explaining and illustrating your worldview here for us.

You absolutely are doing sterling work in support of lesbians and other women, who are reading your words, taking their meaning, thinking about the values that you display, forming their conclusions, and taking action.

You are inspiring people to take action. You really are.

Have an amazing evening 🤍

I'm amazed that this thread is still here. It's incredibly offensive.

HecatesCatsInFancyHats · 29/04/2021 20:02

If everyone is a lesbian, no one is a lesbian. It becomes a meaningless word.

TheWeeDonkey · 29/04/2021 20:02

Well admittedly Shizuku in your world we're all lesbians so that's not such a big brag.

PurgatoryOfPotholes · 29/04/2021 20:03

A poem by Gertrude Stein, who was partnered with Alice Toklas.

Stanzas In Meditation

She may count three little daisies very well
By multiplying to either six nine or fourteen
Or she can be well mentioned as twelve
Which they may like which they can like soon
Or more than ever which they wish as a button
Just as much as they arrange which they wish
Or they can attire where they need as which say
Can they call a hat or a hat a day
Made merry because it is so.

interesting article about attempts at conversion therapy for Lesbians during the 60s and 70s.

wellcomecollection.org/articles/XhWjZhAAACUAOpV2

Some treatment involved trying to create an aversion to hard core pornographic images of other women

'cos it turns out men don't understand women's sexuality. particularly that of lesbians

yourhairiswinterfire · 29/04/2021 20:03

Actually I said that it was inappropriate because calling yourself a widow when someone hasn't died sounds incredibly insensitive. I know there are other's who do the same thing which I still think is gross. Imagine if anyone else did that to others?

The people who use the phrase 'deadname' aren't dead either, but there seems to be no problem with that? Hmm

Shizuku are you attracted to people with a penis or only vagina havers?

Do you never feel any attraction to anyone until you have seen their genitals?

People don't need to actually see anyone's genitals to know what genitals other people have. Secondary sex characteristics are a giveaway. If you're attracted to all and sundry fair game to you. Crack on.

Point is, if you're attracted to other people with a penis or have a penis yourself and are attracted to other people with a penis it's rather unfair on lesbians - female homosexuals - to refer to yourself as a lesbian because it renders the word meaningless.

Absolutely.

@TheWeeDonkey

Just trying to keep things light-hearted.

I'd assumed all of your posts on here were just for shits and giggles.

It essentially doesn't matter what I post - I'm trans, so if I express anything other than the standard GC view, I am assumed to be abusive rather than just someone with a different opinion. That's transphobia. It happens on pretty much every post I contribute to.

Look at the hate on this thread - all I did was give a shout out to lesbians on lesbian visibility week, and made sure I included trans lesbians and their cis partners.

It's not like I killed your grandparents or something.

SophoclestheFox spot on Wine.

Sunlight is always good.

BernardBlackMissesLangCleg · 29/04/2021 20:06

There was a male poster on mumsnet
Who said 'I'd can't bear for you to forget
That I'm here
And I consider myself queer
Even though my sexuality is tediously mainstream and the same as 93% of the UK population'

TheWeeDonkey · 29/04/2021 20:07

Well said Sophocles and BernardBlack

Erkrie · 29/04/2021 20:07

Generally seeing someone's genitals is not required. It's pretty obvious to spot what sex someone is. And lesbians are biological women. Same sex attracted. ☺️

Erkrie · 29/04/2021 20:09

Any other words you want to redefine the meaning of? Truth isn't hate. ☺️

I opened the thread in fascination to see Shizuku now proclaiming themselves to be a lesbian.
Shouldn't have bothered, it's the usual attention seeking, goady nonsense. What a surprise.

Oh yes, when, on a previous thread, I said that I didn't like the phrase 'deadname' I was pretty much told my opinion was irrelevant,
GreyhoundG1rl · 29/04/2021 20:15

That's OK - I was born female
I have a horrible feeling that doesn't mean what most people would think it means 😬

A lesbian just wants to be allowed to own the fact that same sex relationships are their thing. Which does not include a body that has been male at any point in time.
It doesn't matter how upset a Transwoman feels about being excluded, it is just physical impossible .
There is no way to ever change this fact.

Shizuku · 29/04/2021 20:16

Of course - because a trans women who disagrees with you must be a bad person. That sounds like transphobia to me.

Stop appropriating widowhood for your own gains. That is incredibly offensive.
