A BRADFORD POLICE officer has been charged with rape and sexual assault.

Police Sergeant Ben Lister - who works for West Yorkshire Police - has been charged with one count of rape and one count of sexual assault today.

The officer, who is based in the Bradford district, is due in court at Bradford Magistrates' on March 24, 2021.

He is currently suspended from the force.

Hang on...so he committed this crime in Aug 2016 and he's been out on bail ever since and has only just been charged!!! How does that work?

I've listened to a horrific podcast on Saturday on Casefile about a young woman called Corinna Mullen who was tortured and murdered by a cop in America.
He left her body in the boot of the car and he was the first officer to respond and investigate the case!!! He supported her parents and went out with her dad 5 times.
I've been thinking about this for days. It has just left me cold. A female witness was forced to watch went on and was also in fear of her life for years. She was threatened from time to time to keep her mouth shut.
Everyone in the town more or less knew what went in but lived in fear.
How would you even go about reporting that? The copper was running a drug ring. Poor Corinne didn't know this and rang in to report a drug incident to the police station. The cop took the call and then 'went to teach her a lesson' after kidnapping another young woman.an from the streets with his mates.
I know in rambling but who do you know who you can trust. You cant.

The CPS and court systems are in deep shit at the moment- have a look at The Secret Barrister on twitter. Between them and the police there just aren’t the resources- courts are being closed to save money, so the queues are just getting longer.

This will be additionally complicated as the Police will have to comply with external bodies in the investigation as he’s a serving officer, all of which add time in putting the charges together, which then have to be ok’d by CPS.
