Daily acts of feminism - a thread for ideas

Pinched the idea shamelessly from another thread after an hour of speechless rage reading the papers and Twatter. I need to DO something.

I pledge to do something positive every day to stand up for women. Deeds not words.

Today was taken care of for me - a subscription to The Radical Notion for Mother's Day. I'm also going to fill out the VAWG consultation.

Thought might be good to share anything else we come across here, so anyone in need of ideas could check?

Maybe we should have a template letter for this and flood them with complaints."

Who feels like a spot of gardening on this fine spring day?

I had an email today from Sonia Appleby, a GIDS whistleblower who is trying to protect transgender patients -- and those who may temporarily be considered transgender.

She's raising funds for her employment tribunal case against her employers. Not just because they're bullying her but because they're still not taking child safeguarding seriously.

So I've started a thread about her. Do drop in and help bring her efforts to fruition.

So because of this post today I have:

Filled in the Gov survey about violence towards women and girls.

Bought loads of resources from:

As the adopted mum of a teen girl who is the survivor of CSA I wish I'd heard about this before.

Started loaning money to 2 women through lend with care.

Having just watched a YouTube clip where Patrick Harvie, co leader Scottish Green Party accused, without naming of course " For Women Scotland," as a group funded by and with the same goals as the US extreme alt right, have resolved as my daily act of feminism to no longer give my second vote for Scottish Parliament to a party which denies science and is totally shameless in hurling baseless accusations against women fighting to maintain their legal rights. Sod off The Greens.

Was that the one where he spoke against women being protected by the hate crime bill? That was hate-filled spittle-flecked invective if every I saw it. Maybe he's always like that, purple with gynophobic rage.

I think that it probably was. Won't post link because it is blatant smearing of For Women Scotland , identifying them in every which way bar actually naming them.

Completed the census. Put myself first as householder and skipped the question on 'gender identity' for all of us

Have just emailed Organ Donation Scotland regarding their use of gender in their form. Thanks to the ladies on this board I asked , along with the question " did they not need to know my sex", why they were ignoring the Yogyakarta Principles by asking me to out myself. I also queried their need to ask me this and if there were no need would this not be against Data Protection Rules.
So thank you all.

Today I've signed the petition to end the statute of limitations for domestic abuse and emailed my local refuge to see if they'd like any nearly new women's and children's clothes, or some toiletries.

I've sent off my paper census plus sex in the census letter and done a bit of digging for sisters in Scotland this weekend. Also donated to Filia and signed up to their newsletter- thanks to pp for the recommendation.

@teawamutu , sorry sorry too late for your letter, but I'm doing my own and will add these 2 points too:

1. Hate crimes legislation - preferably repeal as it creates untouchable 'sacred castes', or, in the short term, add female-ness as Protected Characteristic (not misogyny as that can be twisted)
2. Gvmt advisers employed to put forward the female perspective should all be female. & referencing the 50-50 committee, and the gvmt equalities advisor )who recently resigned) who was TW, so had an inbuilt bias against females.

How is a paper census is more helpful than online?
