A lot of interesting votes are coming up thus week end:
EMERGENCY MOTION: PROHIBIT GENDERGP FROM OPERATING IN UK on Grounds of Patient Safety, Lack of Child Informed Consent & Safeguarding Failures. This EM will be voted on at #gpconf plenary!

Also, self determination of gender
Trans parents on birth certificates
Access to fertility treatment
Women in sport
Not conflating sex and gender
Preventing irreversible damage to children with dysphoria

Solidarity to any gender critical GP members who are hanging on in there. You have my sympathies. I have voted green in the past for local elections, but I cannot imagine ever supporting the party again unless they make some massive turnarounds. And, y’know, actually focus on green issues and realistic plans to address the climate crisis, not spending inordinate amounts of time and energy on luxury issues like gender.

aliasundercover · 06/03/2021 12:26

It's odd how irrelevant this to me now.

In the past I have ALWAYS considered voting green, and I have often ended up doing so - especially in local elections as our candidate is such a good guy.
Now this means nothing to me; there's no way I could vote for this party, even if I agreed with all their other policies or as a protest vote. No way could I put my X next to a party that treats women the way it has. They've managed to move from 'seriously consider' to 'as bad as UKIP'.

munroclimber · 06/03/2021 12:31

I'm still hanging in there. Don't give up on us women fighting to change things from the inside just yet please!

munroclimber · 06/03/2021 12:33

The irony is, with the voter base being so low, the opportunity for us women to shape party policy is far greater. If we stand in 1000s we could be deciding everything right now!

Manderleyagain · 06/03/2021 12:40

Sian Berry will delete those tweets in the end.

turnedthewatersintoblood · 06/03/2021 14:07

Do you know the time of the votes?

I joined in October but couldn't pay more than my original sub to attend an online conference this month. It's expensive having a political voice in a political party! Have been supporting the motion on Twitter and getting lots of flack (not as much as Shahar Ali did though). Rude, aggressive people with really shit arguments from the #BeKind squad. 'But what about the adults'/ 'you want people to die' every time child safeguarding is mentioned...

munroclimber · 06/03/2021 14:44

@turnedthewatersintoblood

Do you know the time of the votes?
According to the timetable I saw earlier I think the plenary starts now?

Horrifying
Liquorishtoffee · 06/03/2021 21:08

Has the Green Party given up their policy of trying to save the planet?

Wondermule · 06/03/2021 21:09

Can I ask, who would you vote for next time? I feel like I have no choice but to vote conservative, which makes me feel quite ill.

turnedthewatersintoblood · 07/03/2021 17:19

TheGreenParty members have just voted to support self-determination of gender for the obtaining of gender recognition certificates.

OP posts:
Biscuitsanddoombar · 07/03/2021 17:21

Of course they did! Luckily they’ll never get anywhere close to power

I’m baffled that at the time when awareness of climate change is at its height, that this hill
Is the one they choose to die on....

OhHolyJesus · 07/03/2021 18:56

...and for trans parents to be recognised (in whatever they want, not according to their sex-based status of mother/father.)

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2021 18:57

What happened with the other motions, OP?

ListeningQuietly · 07/03/2021 19:03

I feel very sad that was once the ethical Protest Vote
is now so toxic
that no women I know and most men can no longer consider it.

FFS friends of mine used to stand for the Green Party in General Elections
I've met and was impressed by Caroline Lucas
but ANY PARTY
who can stand by the misogyny and homophobia of the current TRA identity politics
is off my list

I am homeless

I have not changed
the parties have
Sad

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 19:37

They are so weird. Saw some of their stuff on Twitter and it was horrid

It’s like they have forgot they are the Green Party and now just the women excluder party

Seems like they have been taken over

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 19:42

This dude here is a green candidate in Scotland.

Yet he doesn’t mention it here. In his public campaign

tilder · 07/03/2021 19:53

Am trying to understand GP thinking. Are they equating being gender critical with misoginy?

SpringCrocus · 07/03/2021 19:54

Two motions on climate change issues. Rest a variety of TRA based nonsense. Shameful. I have been a member for years, left a couple of years back over the "non men" description of women, but rejoined to help my GC sisters fight.
I've spent the last few days at the online conference. Tonight I feel sick and very very sad.

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 20:19

Leave them behind spring

No point dealing with a party self imploding

Let them crack o; with it.

highame · 07/03/2021 20:25

Their membership has been going up. I think this is students filling the ranks when the seasoned activists leave

munroclimber · 07/03/2021 20:44

500 voters max on gender id issues this weekend with 150 on average on environmental issues. Wouldn't some grassroots feminism turn things around? I feel like we are all looking at this the wrong way. The 150 feminist voters could leave or we could bring in 1000 in. 🤷‍♀️

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 20:50

I don’t think so munro

I wouldn’t want to be in a party that doesn’t like women
