If they come to my door wanting my vote (and I have voted for them in the past), I will tell them that I will no more vote for them than the BNP and for much the same reasons.

They have chosen to trample over Muslim women and call themselves progressive for doing so. I will never vote for racists.

If they don't like looking like racists, they know what to do.

Gurufloof · 07/03/2021 21:02

@munroclimber

500 voters max on gender id issues this weekend with 150 on average on environmental issues. Wouldn't some grassroots feminism turn things around? I feel like we are all looking at this the wrong way. The 150 feminist voters could leave or we could bring in 1000 in. 🤷‍♀️
Let's let the party die already. No point giving our money to a party that doesn't recognise us, in fact they shouldnt take our money ever. Once the party dies then we can maybe see a shift to women centred stuff in other parties as they realise pissing off women wont get them into power.
munroclimber · 07/03/2021 21:02

@littlbrowndog

I don’t think so munro

I wouldn’t want to be in a party that doesn’t like women

Nor do I. But NO party likes women. Expelled from Labour - where else can we go?
PotholeParadies · 07/03/2021 21:04

SDP.

SpringCrocus · 07/03/2021 21:05

SDP or Communist Party.

SpringCrocus · 07/03/2021 21:06

I'd join a truly Woman centric, planet centred middle to left wing party

PotholeParadies · 07/03/2021 21:06

The liberal pursuit of individual autonomy and desire must be balanced by the common good. Some citizens feel at odds with the physiology and social role associated with their natal sex and can suffer distress. Transgender people should be treated with dignity and respect, in keeping with their acquired gender in most situations. However, these rights must be balanced against the need of natal females for safety and sporting fairness. Biological sex is real and politically significant. This requires an absolute stance on relevant legal definitions in some domains

POLICY PLEDGES:Transgender individuals wishing to change their legal sex should be allowed to do so. However, we support the continued necessity for medical gatekeeping in any legal change of sex marker. We oppose proposals that would allow someone to change their legal sex by self-identification only.We support segregation by biological sex in sport. Fair competition is not secured if male-bodied transgender athletes are permitted to compete in women’s sport and, in the case of contact sports, the risk of injury can increase significantly. We support segregation by biological sex in prisons and women’s refuges in order to safeguard the safety and privacy of natal females. Separate prisons or prison accommodation should be provided for transgender citizens to ensure their safety and privacy.Healthcare spending and resources for gender dysphoric individuals, including long-term psychological intervention, should be provided at sufficient levels. Physical or drug-based medical treatments for gender dysphoria should be prohibited for anyone under 18 years of age.We support the retention of biological sex and gender identity as distinct categories in public sector data gathering such as crime statistics, poverty metrics or public health research. We support the use of plain English for discussions of biological sex in health and reproductive care.

Perhaps you're right. But how do we influence parties if we can't at least influence within small parties where we do have a chance of winning a vote?
If the Tories drink the Kool Aid it won't be 300 votes we'd be up against as we GPW were today, it'd be 100,000s.

Me too. Lead by Jackie Weaver 😂 or someone like her who takes no nonsense from men!
munroclimber · 07/03/2021 21:30

I passionately feel most of you have got this the wrong way round.
Many of you are saying you'll never vote Green BECAUSE of this, but on so many of the feminist votes we lost today (40-100 votes) - if you HAD been there we would have won!

What is grassroots feminism if not this?

Is this a form of snobbery towards us women who are working so bloody hard to turn things around? Julie Bindel wrote on Twitter advising us women to leave. But that is so bloody ridiculous. Why not advise women to bloody JOIN and make sure that that 40 vote favour towards TRAs doesn't happen next time?!

Because if we got the balance wrong we could inadvertently end up giving power to a party that still won’t listen to us. The tories make me ill but at least we know the TRAs won’t make huge gains while they are in power.
munroclimber · 07/03/2021 21:35

Wonder 80 women's voices would have stopped self-ID today. Just 80.

Don't get me wrong. I'm in awe of the Baronesses, Truss, Badenoch. But it could turn via Johnson. And where would we be?

WarriorN · 07/03/2021 21:48

I managed to get my proxy votes to someone but that was on a wing and a prayer.

Many women feeling like I do are also up to their knees in kids and work etc. I couldn't spend this weekend at a conference when we as a family are struggling and trying to keep the kids happy and exercised.

I would have appreciated a clearer way to vote on these things especially given the current pandemic, as the proxy vote wasn't clearly known about.

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 22:53

I won’t Munro. Sorry

This is my natural party but having seen the way they are now. I could never join them.

They don’t share my values or the values I want for my daughter or my sons

I saw what they did to reasonable green part members on Twitter

I will never join any party or vote for any party that are like this

To spend my time in a party who’s super shiny public face is lovely but in the background are toxic people at the top

This is down to leadership

SpringCrocus · 08/03/2021 00:44

Yep. My lifelong natural party ( veteran of Greenham, Twyford etc)
I now feel abused and abandoned

WarriorN · 08/03/2021 06:11

They don't care if we leave. I'd rather be a thorn in their side.

WarriorN · 08/03/2021 06:21

Also, over the last two years I've witness two local Green Party leaders move over to the GC side as a result of listening to Gp women.

I'm not hugely political, this was through a local feminist group. These women came to join us, and I've since heard of a third local Gp member who may also be coming our way. So it's not fruitless to remain in the party. I joined specifically to do this.

NecessaryScene1 · 08/03/2021 06:27

This is part of the answer to the other thread "What is the woke agenda?"

Answer: whatever they want, because they turn up to all the meetings. They're obsessed enough to just keep going and going and going, plugging their pet causes in all the tedious meetings that no normal person wants to go to.

Part of turning all this round is getting normal people back go the meetings to outvote them. And it really won't take that many.

THIS.

@munroclimber I’m with you. I was there. It was crushing. It was brutal. I’m heartbroken. Particularly by Caroline Lucas’ cynical careerist gameplaying. But we were much closer than they thought we would be. I’m clinging on by my fingernails. Solidarity to you Flowers

I do understand why others like @littlbrowndog can’t stomach it though.

Anyone who can’t join the party but has solidarity with us who are still in, please do join the Green Feminists! There is an email newsletter and Facebook page.

WarriorN · 08/03/2021 09:22

I'm loving the green feminists.

After the vote for Green Party women that saw a joint leadership post for a Tw and a woman, the first book club suggestion was Invisible women.

Justhadathought · 08/03/2021 09:41

The Green party seems to have become anarchic.

And a party that bases its philosophy on earth centric policies: on respect for the natural world and its systems, it seems really quite dystopian to be lauding a movement which not only flies in the face of nature, but requires drugs and surgery on healthy bodies to do so.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/03/2021 10:29

Wait til they grasp how transphobic it is! It says female bodies are different to male ones!

🤣 I sympathise, munro, but I won't be joining a party whose co-leader tells people not to join unless they agree with her batshit views which have nothing to do with being Green. It's a real shame, but the party is fast becoming a liability to the environmental movement.
Socrates11 · 08/03/2021 21:54

I've joined for the year so Covid willing will be on look out for local meetings to attend & sound out. Waiting for a Thought Criminal t-shirt from Posie which I'll wear lol. Some members are really not into the bullshit so be worth seeing what local situation is like.

gardenbird48 · 08/03/2021 22:47

Sorry if this has been posted - I couldn’t see it. From Julie Bindel’s article in The Spectator - I hadn’t realised it was quite this bad:

.. a motion which sought to introduce a party policy on women’s sex-based rights was defeated. A whopping 289 delegates (out of 521) voted to not include biological females in the party’s list of oppressed groups.

All the motion aimed to do was simply add a paragraph to the Green party’s ‘Our Rights and Responsibilities Policy’. The motion reads:

‘This is to include the protected characteristic of sex as currently our Record of Policy statements supports the other eight characteristics (age, disability, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, race, maternity, religion/belief, marriage/civil partnership) but not that of sex discrimination – aimed primarily at women…’
The motion was opposed because, in essence, it is considered ‘transphobic’ to recognise that women are targeted by male oppression precisely because of their female sex.

So they refuse to align with the actual law - wow!! There are growing calls for anyone who disagrees to be kicked out of the party. I hope the rewards, whatever they are, are worth it.
