Can they be taken to court over this?

Wow that's batshit. And yes I imagine they potentially could be taken to court.

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 09/03/2021 05:59

@Ereshkigalangcleg

After the vote for Green Party women that saw a joint leadership post for a Tw and a woman, the first book club suggestion was Invisible women.

Wait til they grasp how transphobic it is! It says female bodies are different to male ones!

Oh they did! They complained BITTERLY. To no avail Grin

Yes I do, for my sins I endured throughout (the suffering one goes through to stand for women! I hate politics - not my thing at all!!!)

What do you want to know?

ChoosandChipsandSealingWax · 09/03/2021 06:12

@littlbrowndog

This is what I feel
@littlbrowndog I totally agree. We on the left are politically homeless.

I am not voting for them. I am not working for them. I am not helping them.

But I am staying in the party to FIGHT these people who are trying to throw me out!

We have much more chance in this party that the others of resetting the balance.
The votes were SO close - they only won because they basically cheated: added in proxy votes which is NOT the usual way to do it. Usually though only add proxies at the end of the vote is close. Usually they will first count the people who bothered to attend conference and are in the room.

I feel there will be a turning of the tide and public opinion with all the legal challenges due over the summer, and the Stonewall FOIs. Those of us who stay can capitalise on this in October. We didn't win the battle, but I am staying for the war!

Ereshkigalangcleg · 09/03/2021 08:28

What do you want to know?

I know there were several pro women motions proposed, what happened with the other ones? I'm guessing nothing good!

DdraigGoch · 09/03/2021 08:56

@Biscuitsanddoombar

Of course they did! Luckily they’ll never get anywhere close to power

I’m baffled that at the time when awareness of climate change is at its height, that this hill
Is the one they choose to die on....

Don't discount the possibility. The Scottish Greens hold the balance of power in Holyrood.

They were all voted down.

I can’t believe I gave up a whole weekend on that shitstorm. Bugger all to do with the environment, everything to do validating TRA and erasing women from legislation.

@TheRabbitOfCaerbannog

I imagine so but as we have seen it takes someone prepared to take a ton of public abuse and a lot of money.

It makes me realise how fragile the rule of law is - if it is not enforced then it becomes meaningless. The police and CPS appear to be getting more selective over which parts of the law they are bothered about (and making up their own bits when they feel like it) and if an organisation like the Greens are determined to ignore the law in this way - what can we do about it?

I guess the people that want to be able to vote for the Greens will have to keep plugging away and change the policies (obviously tricky while Sian Berry et al are involved) or vote with their feet and set up a new Eco party - we do need one.

WarriorN · 09/03/2021 09:32

Some of us couldn't get on to upvote or give proxy votes.

So it wasn't a true reflection

Well quite. Mad that so many Greens think they have no responsibility towards interpreting the Equality Act properly/fairly. Going to have to write a letter to Lucas about the parties failure in this regard.

This is where Ann Sinnot's push for a judicial review into unlawful interpretations of the Equality Act will hopefully shine a massive floodlight onto the whole damn wider shitshow going on.

Waving to my Green viper sisters, who went through it all with me.

Funny that it was a FWR thread that got me to join the Greens in the first place. 😉

I was already in the party, but not remotely active. I was recruited and activated on FWR!

Hello all you lovely vipers!!!!

And yes likewise can’t believe I gave up a weekend to that shitstorm. It was beautiful weather too. Culture wars over climate - and in the year of COP26. What has the party become?? Time to take fungicide to the rot!

Cwenthryth · 16/03/2021 15:58

Well, greenies. It seems your co-chair of the women’s caucus had been suspended for asking whether transwomen are female

twitter.com/emmabatemangpw/status/1371778956265918464?s=21

Following a complaint by 2 other members of the women’s committee. Hmm, who could they be!

So sorry green fems. Solidarity.

So....the thread on Emma went poof, did it??? Hmmm...

What didn't they want us to see? It seemed perfectly in line with the guidelines to me. Was it the statements from the Strikers, or the resignation letters perhaps? Some of the sentences were rather biology-focussed, however I thought quoted text was OK?

OhHolyJesus · 19/03/2021 17:20

I noticed it had gone too but honestly I can't see why it was deleted. The content I shared was already in the public domain and all other posts seemed reasonable.

I'm not sure I should reshare the letter from those striking in the Bridgwater and West Somerset Green Party but I didn't get a warning or deletion myself so I don't think that could have been it...

continuallyconflating · 19/03/2021 17:35

We're taking this down while we contact the OP off the boards.

Was the message

OhHolyJesus · 19/03/2021 17:38

Yea but for what?

I'm guessing it was reported by someone who doesn't want us to talk about Emma Bateman's suspension.

Maybe even the Green Party senior bids themselves?

WarriorN · 19/03/2021 18:13

Just seen this, how weird?

WarriorN · 19/03/2021 18:14

Hadn't Glinner reported it?

WarriorN · 19/03/2021 18:19

Emma herself has RT all about the strike.

WarriorN · 19/03/2021 18:23

Anyway, in other news, one of the co chairs of the Green Party women's group has finally worked out which gender they have. Genderfae.

Phew, thank goodness for that.

WarriorN · 19/03/2021 19:27

Thread is back??
