Superstraight is trending on twitter. No I hadn't either.

Its a subcategory of straight that means that straight people can now be included in the lgbtqi+ categories. Or something. Hooray! Fight for my superstraight rights too Stonewall!. Or something

The teens will be able to shrug this craze off and move onto the next thing but how are the late 20s and older folks going to move past this! When the house of cards tumbles, how do the intelligent (particularly men) who've been so sucked in, just walk away from this fucked up ideology with dignity?

RufustheSniggeringReindeer · 08/03/2021 08:55

This probably would have just gone away as a silly comment by a youngster (although obviously I believe all identities are valid 🙂)

People making death threats and getting very very angry on social media are ensuring this thing runs and runs

So well done them...

Ereshkigalangcleg · 08/03/2021 08:59

TRAs are deliberately using the language of preference as if it's our choice and are trying to eradicate the language of orientation. As if it doesn't matter what we say we are, we can choose to have sex with any gender, no matter the actual biological sex.

YY.

I think maybe if these same people hadnt been cheering on an ‘ideology’ which contributed to sackings and death threats and doxxing and thought crime and rewriting of history etc etc etc i might have had a bit of sympathy

But I don’t

MenopausalCrone · 08/03/2021 09:14

Oh believe you me I have zero sympathy for them but I'm just exploring HOW they will make this all right in their heads. There have been threads from wives pulling their hair out because their husbands have been so captured. How will these men square it all when the walls come tumbling down!! Just pondering you know!

ChancesWhatChances · 08/03/2021 09:20

@MoleSmokes I took a look at the subreddit you linked and found this exceptionally disturbing article linked within the thread. It’s absolutely no wonder we’ve reached this point with these pedophiles (disguising themselves as TRA’s) in politics.

Also, female MPs who now have two unpalatable choices, continue with the fucked up religion and ignore the fact that the world now sees it for what it really is, or....

... admit they were wrong, risk excommunication and the vitriol of the high priests.

Either way a lot of political parties have got a big mess coming.

Oh they'll badge it as a victory don't worry. We never said sex didn't exist (already hearing that); we never said it was about stereotypes (they've backed away massively on that); nobody is born in the wrong body (tick); all we ever wanted was recognition and dignity; there were extreme voices on both sides; moderate liberal voices prevailed.

Shame archiving pages exist eh?

And Penny Mordaunt has it preserved for posterity in Hansard Confused. That’s going to be a tricky one to get out of.

MenopausalCrone · 08/03/2021 09:33

Absolutely Xanthangum. I'm really happy that I'm starting to imagine the fall of the madness but can't imagine how the 'fallout' will take shape.

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 08/03/2021 09:40

What I look for in a partner primarily is honesty.
Transwomen who know they're men but still try to "pass" as women would not be honest, because although biologically they're honest, their presentation isn't.
Transwomen who think they're women are a dead loss as far as honesty goes.
Transwomen who look like men are being dishonest in saying "I say I'm a woman, therefore I am one" - intellectual dishonesty.
Plus it's ALL gaslighting women into believing something that isn't true, so nah.

I'm less fussed about how good looking they are, but honesty and a sense of humour are a must for me.

It won’t happen that way. The recognition of sex will be brought back under new language. They will continue to believe they were always on the right side of history and continue to rail again t*fs as boogeywomen and baddies even though their position has 180’d. Most likely the “t*f” position will be completely misrepresented as indeed it already is. Cognitive dissonance is a powerful force.

Which means there will never be any apology or acknowledgment of the wrong done to the people standing up for female rights and voices, and the detransitioners and others hurt by this ideology will hear their stories told in a way that they may not recognise. We will need to see the important thing is that society is getting the right practical outcome.

No it’s definitely a thing to ponder

And I should point out that i dont mean transwomen or transmen in my comment

Zinco · 08/03/2021 09:54

I read this article, and I found out that, unfortunately, "super straight" just isn't scientific...

Quoting:

www.pinknews.co.uk/2021/03/06/super-straight-social-media-transphobia-trend-tiktok-kyle-royce/

Although it seems highly unlikely that any trans woman has ever wanted to date @kyleroyce, the hateful trend began to spread to other social media platforms.

The original video has been removed, and the TikTok user claims he has been banned from posting on the platform, but his video is being shared by others also claiming to “identify as super straight”.

Other social media users have been forced to step in to explain why the trend is viciously transphobic and makes absolutely no sense, with one TikToker crafting the perfect response.

User @procrasclass posted a video responding to a commenter who claimed to be “super straight”.

He said: “Super straight means you think that men who date trans women are less straight, meaning that trans women are men, and therefore not real women. Which is not only transphobic, but scientifically inaccurate.”

@nauticant

There is no way the TRAs will suffer the #superstraight sub reddit to continue to exist. But here's the problem, the longer it's up, the more normalised, ie serious and not jokey, #super identities will become, and if the TRAs get it taken down, there'll be thousands of radicalised redditors feeling aggrieved ready to continue the discussion of "straight and homosexual sexualities are not transphobic".

Since the sub reddit wasn't taken down immediately, the best thing would be for TRAs to ignore it and let it fade away naturally. One marvellous aspect of this situation is that TRAs can never leave an identity war alone and so will continue to prosecute their crusade with hatred and death threats. While a diverse audience looks on in astonishment.

This is so true. If TRAs had any sense they'd leave it alone or maybe think about what's in there. But they won't.
nauticant · 08/03/2021 10:18

In a totally unpredictable land-grab, TRAs have registered the subreddit r/superlesbians !

I went to have a look and see it's a private community:

TRA Owned #FuckSuperLesbians
The moderators of r/superlesbians have set this community as private.
Only approved members can view and take part in its discussions.

TRAs are so blinded by hatred they're unable to see what they've done. For years the complaint from gender critical lesbians was that transbians are appropriating their identities and colonising their spaces. This was the reason #superlesbian was created when the gender critical lesbians saw #superstraight happening.

So what do TRAs do in response to #superlesbian? They appropriate the identity and colonise the #superlesbians space.

What can #superlesbians do in response? Well, I expect a number of them will post on the #superstraight sub reddit thus developing an alliance between #superstraights and #superlesbians. I posted earlier about how TRAs should have ignored #superstraight and allow it to fade away naturally. One thing that would have helped the TRA cause would have been to allow #super to fragment into the different #super orientations. Instead they're encouraging consolidation of sexual orientations under the #super umbrella.

Marvellous. It's all just marvellous.

Every single person on this planet is entitled to their sexuality, and is entitled to say no to whoever they damn please without needing to justify it. No means no - no exceptions

Amen.

This is why the misuse and rewriting of language has been so successful. Anyone on the outside of all this reading that sentence would conclude that the word trans women means natal women who are trans (or trans men) and excluding them from feminism and female spaces would be transphobic so it neatly paints GC as transphobic and also masks the dismantling of safeguarding behind false language.

It's quite sophisticated and Machiavellian really.

Why can't people just accept that it's fine to be homosexual, it's fine to be homogenderal, and it's fine to be heterosexual or heterogenderal and it's fine to have any other permutation or combination that you happen to be. So long as it's freely consenting adults it's all good.

The only reasons not is if you want to coerce other people to act against their own sexuality. Men trying to 'convert' lesbians (be it straight men or transbians) are being coercively homophobic. It's (literally) fucking conversion therapy.

nauticant · 08/03/2021 10:53

This made me think about the Hillsborough disaster. The official version was still being trotted out and respected many years after anyone who had done any reading could see it was filled with lies. It also made me think about the Miners' Strike and how the official version there is a lie-filled narrative, but even though this is widely known, the official version is still presented as true and anyone pointing out lies is treated in many quarters as a crank.

When the motivation is strong enough, the fact that everyone knows the official version is untrue can often be insufficient for the lies to be corrected.

ChancesWhatChances · 08/03/2021 10:57

@langclegflavoredbananamush slight derail sorry, but is there anything we can do to help detransitioners voices be heard about the TRA’s? I know there’s someone on these forums that set up a webpage for trans widows, possibly there’s someone here that’s a detransitioner themselves (or is close to someone that has detransitioned) and could do the same?
