Superstraight is trending on twitter. No I hadn't either.

Its a subcategory of straight that means that straight people can now be included in the lgbtqi+ categories. Or something. Hooray! Fight for my superstraight rights too Stonewall!. Or something

@WanderinWomb

As well as being irrelevant it's not a good idea to answer specifically what you find attractive or unattractive about named individuals such as White Lee's or Bergdorf.

We have been dealt enough deletions and strikes this week.

Popped over to Twitter and TikTok.

The young people are still having no truck with any nonsense.

They understand sexuality.

#SuperStraight is allowing them to once again re-assert - and name - their sexual boundaries.

#SuperLesbian
#SuperGay
#SuperBi
#SuperStraight

All are valid.

PotholeParadies · 07/03/2021 17:48

No heterosexual woman fancies every single man they see. It doesn't make them any less heterosexual.

This comes up in discussion of prostitution. You ask a man whether he would find it empowering to perform sex acts on an intimidating, unwashed bloke in order to pay the rent, and he says, "but I'm not gay!"

As if being a straight woman must mean you will enjoy performing sex acts on random men, just because they're men. Hmm

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2021 17:48

Film with Jack Black was "Shallow Hal."

WoolOfBat · 07/03/2021 17:48

Amen to that littlebrowndog.

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 17:49

AfternoonToffee · 07/03/2021 17:50

@Ereshkigalangcleg

Film with Jack Black was "Shallow Hal."
Thank you. Smile

I can sleep peacefully tonight. I'm so old I had it on VHS. Blush

JJ doesn’t realise that sexual orientation is the absolute arbiter of what you are attracted to in a sexual way.

A superstraight woman will never be attracted to a female born person
A superlesbian will never be attracted to a male born person

Etc.

It doesn’t matter how the present themselves, how they act, how much they even pay you. Your sexual orientation will not allow you to override what sex you are attracted to in a partner.

As I said before I am only attracted to male born people, transwomen technically included.... but like obese male born people, they will never be my preference of male partner.

Sexuality first, preferences afterwards.

Sexuality: males only... (transwoman pass this gatekeeping)
Next comes preference: .... not trans, not obese, not elderly etc.

My sexuality includes transwomen, my sexual preferences do not.

Exactly. Great post which makes it very clear.

@Mockolate

I also don’t see why the posters on this thread are being expected to know what a hypothetical individual woman may or may not find attractive.

Somebody asked why some women don't find obese older men attractive, so only natural that in response to that a question would be along the lines of "I don't know, why don't men find older obese women attractive?

One might conclude it’s yet another derail.

How is it a derail if a poster responds to a question brought up by a "GC?"
Or is it one of those rhetorical ones nobody's actually supposed to respond to?
It seems like derail can mean hearing anything else apart from the usual on here.

The exchange you picked up on was after the derail started. You need to go back a bit further. A poster was asking whether any “super straight” women would sleep with specific, named individuals.

Perhaps some will, but surely that’s down to individuals.

How would you expect the posters on this thread to answer that constructively other than speculation about other women’s sexual boundaries and/or personal speculation about the individuals in question?

(I guess it’s possible someone could have gone “hell yeah, I would!”)

Yes, it's surprising how many men make this distinction.

Flamglimglubberty · 07/03/2021 17:59

@Blibbyblobby

But LGBT solidarity, and indeed the term itself, was a recognition of a shared oppression. To include straight people in that, whether you drop the T or not, erases that oppression.

Like how women's rights, indeed feminism itself, are a recognition of shared oppression, and to include males in that, whether T or not, erases that impression?

Beautiful, thank you @Blibbyblobby
PurpleHoodie · 07/03/2021 18:03

Imagine if this thread continually runs over to two, or three or ten+ threads so that young Super people know that there are people here who willcontinually validate their sexualities.

Imagine.

littlbrowndog · 07/03/2021 18:04

The supers are here to stay. It’s spreading

RaidersoftheLostAardvark · 07/03/2021 18:05

@Blibbyblobby - yes exactly! Males need to acknowledge their male privilege & stop trying to identify into protected spaces for females, either physical spaces or shortlists, sports or awards. The fact that the TRAs have decided to threaten the #superstraight originator's mum shows their misogyny. If a female had started the trend she would have received multiple rape threats by now - males just don't get the same level of abuse on social media that females do.

WanderinWomb · 07/03/2021 18:10

Even a "hell yeah I would" from a straight or bisexual woman on this board about the named individuals could easily leave her banned from here for life, if it gave reasons for her enthusiasm.

(We are so hamstrung here with arcane FWR rules, having to not comment on out concerns that I can't even say why this is an issue.
So I'll give a general suggestion for answering any poster on any thread, just generally
THINK ABOUT WHAT IT IS EXACTLY YOU ARE BEING ASKED TO SAY.)

Deliriumoftheendless · 07/03/2021 18:12

JJ- is there any reason you define yourself as bisexual rather than pansexual?

MsGrumpytrousers · 07/03/2021 18:15

“ As if being a straight woman must mean you will enjoy performing sex acts on random men, just because they're men.”

“Yes, it's surprising how many men make this distinction.”

Isn’t that because it allows them to retain the comforting delusion that you may be prepared to sleep with them, even when it’s obvious how much you don’t fancy them?

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2021 18:17

Well the truth is it's difficult to untangle where patriarchal pressures apply and where sexuality may be based on some inherent drives connected to reproduction or similar. But what we do know is that at different times and in different cultures what is considered sexually attractive can differ greatly, as can attitudes towards same sex attraction, which suggests a large part of our sexuality is socially formed rather than inherent.

And? I was specifically pointing out that straight (or bisexual) women not wanting obese and/or elderly males as partners was as cultural as their not wanting MTF trans people as partners.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2021 18:18

Yes I think that's probably a part of it for many.

Mummyoflittledragon · 07/03/2021 18:19

@MrMucker

I don't give two hoots about gender or sexuality. It's all been made woke in order to increase the number of people who are encouraged to shout about their rights so that nobody actually stops to think about the real unfairness of social inequality and poverty cemented from birth. *Underpaid and overworked people nod wisely* *cue lots of comfortably off people declaring they are super straight and it is actually insurmountably difficult to be so*
As a parent and comfortably off, I am very concerned for children, predominantly girls and women including my dd. And more concerned for women and girls, who don’t have the advantages my dd does. They will be ones, more likely to be exploited.

If you’re happy for women to be housed in prisons, rape shelters and raped by transwomen with penises, women and girls overtaken by transwoman / transgirls in every sport; women’s voices increasingly being superseded by transwomen in politics and business, bully for you. This is all already happening. But if you’re really ‘super cool’ with all of this, this thread and isn’t for you.

haggistramp · 07/03/2021 18:20

I'd just want to say that the 16 year old boy was getting death threats, its just that he didn't take the video down until his mum started getting death threats. Despicable yet expected from the be kind crew.

Ereshkigalangcleg · 07/03/2021 18:22

Ah ok, thank you. I feel for him and his family.

MarieFromStTropez · 07/03/2021 18:28

‘Super’ is such a lovely middle-class Mumsnet kind of word Grin.

Seriously though, I feel so empowered by this. It’s about bloody time we found a collective voice against this madness.
