Thanks for explaining everything.

Brexit means we should have a clear answer to that.

This is going to be one of the next be questions for UK citizens.

Should non-UK* people be able to deal drugs (take payment) to our children?

*including UK born people living abroad. And stripped of their medical licences.

Like Shamina Begum, will, or can they be stripped of their British/UK citizenship?

*Should non-UK residential people be able to deal drugs (take payment) that are given to our children?

It does feel like a massive loophole, and we also have issues with online pharmacies supplying prescription painkillers without proper medical oversight. Will try and find info on relevant legislation.

In the UK gov Brexit guidance- prescriptions from Drs in the EAA are valid. However I'm not clear if prescriptions for unlicensed indications are valid- and cross sex hormones & puberty blockers are not licensed for gender dysphoria. Will try & clarify.

So.

Anyone, ANYONE - in the EU or in the UK - can take money for drugs to be prescribed for UK children?

Is that - legally - correct?!

Does that mean that we can all take money - and get a third country doctor from say, Egypt or Cyprus or Finland, to provide prescriptions.

ANY Mumsnetter is legally able to get a doctor from ANY country in the world to write up a UK legal prescription???!!!

Is that correct????!!!!

everythingthelighttouches · 06/03/2021 15:59

Is this relevant? Can we pursue through this route?

I’m not sure MHRA regulates everything or only those registered....

Baroness Nicholson wrote to Matt Hancock and copied to Lord Bethell on this subject on 18 December 2020.

She does not seem to have had a reply yet but says she is confident that they will act:
