Solidarity in Aldi today!

This is my first thread in a very long time but I wanted to share the uplifting and fabulous experience I had today in Aldi😂

I reached 'peak' during the last lockdown and lurk regularly on here while trying to make sense of the madness.
DH is supportive to a degree but very nervous of me being vocal about my GC views as we are both teachers. I am a middle leader in a secondary school and he worries about me getting sackedConfused
So I can't discuss this much IRL.

Anyway, queing outside Aldi today and saw a woman a few people ahead of me with a 'Woman
Noun
adult human female' tote bag. I was thrilled and as soon as there was an opportunity (by the fruit and vegWink) I told her I liked her bag and that I knew what it meant.
She said I had made her day; I replied I she had made mine. Then she said 'Solidarity sister and see you on the next march'
We went on our separate ways but bloody hell it was brilliant. To vocalise it and be recognised. Felt a bit emotional and even now re-writing it, am a bit teary.

Just wanted to share. It was wonderful.

Yet not a fucking clue what the law is. Brazen as

Minister for older people and equalities

Fucking hell. It's fine to hold the opinion/belief that 'TWAW' but to say it's 'actually the law' is - well. Embarrasingly stupid.

Mollyollydolly · 15/02/2021 22:53

I worked in a very 'woke' industry, broadcasting, in a newsroom - took voluntary redundancy recently. So woke that one colleague was disciplined for saying 'I cant get used to them being a her' when someone transitioned. Another colleague reported the conversation.

When I knew I'd got redundancy I took great pleasure in wearing my 'This witch doesn't burn' t-shirt and my Adult human female bag. People either ignored it or asked me what it meant and everyone I discussed it with agreed with the sentiments.

Most people are still rational, it's fear that keeps them quiet. When the fear is removed (ie my redundancy) it is incredibly liberating.

@Eastie77

Loving this thread. I spent quite a bit on Red Bubble today procuring some GC clothes and stickers for myself and a friend. We are going to brave the streets of woke East London with our outfits and accessories.

Lots of bars and cafes here have issued written warnings on their doors that they will "not permit transphobia" so wearing my Woman Adult Human hoodie when I go on the coffee run is going to go down a treatGrin

All the “Standing For Women” gear mentioned is made by Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull (the Women’s Rights Campaigner Formerly Known as Posie Parker).

She live-streams on YouTube most days - great to see her video today about this thread! Grin

youtube.com/c/PosieParker

Please buy direct from Standing For Women because the proceeds are used for campaigning for Women's Rights and Safeguarding Children

www.standingforwomen.com/

Other outlets selling "Adult Human Female" (AHF) gear (Red Bubble, Etsy and Amazon) are “knock off” designs. The vendors are ripping-off Standing For Women and it is money lost to campaigning if you buy from them.

Etsy, Redbubble, Spreadshirt, Printful and Amazon have also banned women's rights campaigners to stop them selling their original work, eg.

"Vanessa Vokey Will Not Be Cancelled"
The 26-year-old has been fired and censored from Etsy, Redbubble, and Printful—but she refuses to go away

Vanessa's story also covered here:

"Sunday 18th October - Witch Burning Across The Pond"

In "The Week in the War on Women: Monday 12th October - Sunday 18th October"

and here:

"Woman fired by restaurant after posting support for JK Rowling on Facebook"
It is important that ordinary people understand that the phenomenon of cancellation has spilled over the banks that once contained the process to high-status people in the public eye.

Wild Women Workshop, the Artist Birdy Rose and others mentioned in this thread all legit and make their own designs Smile

Dammit! We could do with a list of all these fantastic women who have been banned from the usual shopping sites and where to buy their work.

Loving the shout out from Kellie-Jay Grin

My husband has been hankering after a Thought Criminal t shirt for a while, maybe now’s the time...

waterlego · 16/02/2021 08:33

Oh God, that Tweet 😩

‘TWAW is the law’ doesn’t even make sense. She sounds really stupid.

littlbrowndog · 16/02/2021 09:04

It’s the law says the Scottish minister for equalities 😂🤦‍♀️

Ninkanink · 16/02/2021 09:19

How did we get into a position where there are such complete numpties actually running countries??

How embarrassing, and dangerous.

PamDenick · 16/02/2021 11:20

It comes back to - What is a woman?

SheGonBringThatAttitudeHome2 · 16/02/2021 11:21

@ErrolTheDragon

See Judith Butler, queer theory, etc

(Personally I'd rather eat ground glass)

😂

MozzarellaMonster · 16/02/2021 15:38

I love that she had a spike in her sales and knew something had gone down... women shopping on Aldi 😁

Impatiens · 16/02/2021 15:59

God yes, how did we end up with such a putrid dishonest bunch??

This video is from a couple of years ago - gives me a little bit of hope for the younger generation.

MozzarellaMonster · 16/02/2021 19:56

@Impatiens hopefully so and I hope that student put in a complaint about his teacher!

toomuchlikemyusername · 17/02/2021 10:30

My parcel arrived today! Thank you Kellie-Jay! Three bags for a bargain £10 with some freebie postcards and stickers.

DP never has a handy shopping bag so I think one of these will be finding its way into his coat pocket.

Aldi here I come...

Norma27 · 17/02/2021 10:59

I love those bags. Have just ordered them now too.

Haha! That's brilliant.
TofuDelights · 17/02/2021 14:07

My order arrived today too, the postie has just been! Brilliant! T-shirt, JK tote bag and some freebies! Looking forward to my next trip to Aldi (or even Lidl)!

gardenbird48 · 17/02/2021 14:13

can't wait for mine to arrive - I need to go to the supermarket soon!!

CisMyArse · 17/02/2021 14:20

Another secondary teacher here.
I have a 'Trouble making Woman' bag but would love one of those bags too.

So many Transboys in my school
Though and, as troubled and mixed up as they are, I wouldn't use my bag in work. They'd unite as a pack and I'd cop so much grief.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 17/02/2021 15:46

I saw that one Empress although the small font could mean sexist twats looking at my chest which would wind me more than I am now Confused

QueenoftheAir · 17/02/2021 18:05

This is such a great thread!

It feels a bit like walking into the main lecture theatre last February 2020 for the Women's Liberation conference - being in a room with 1000 (mostly) women. It's a feeling of solidarity and sisterhood that is exhilarating and makes you realise how utterly rare a truly single-sex women-only space is, and how wonderful it is.

Fallingirl · 17/02/2021 18:24

Am I the only one who really, really hopes Janey Henderson’s bag wielding woman of mystery is reading this thread?

Now I really want to see “Solidarity in Aldi 2: The Reunion”. Who knows where that might lead?

SirSamuelVimes · 17/02/2021 18:53

Went to Aldi today. Sadly lacking in feminist bags / t shirts. But then I haven't ordered mine yet, maybe I'll get lucky next time?!

I did buy myself some Harry Potter merchandise from the middle aisle of joy though. Always a good time to be had in Aldi!
