Solidarity in Aldi today!

This is my first thread in a very long time but I wanted to share the uplifting and fabulous experience I had today in Aldi😂

I reached 'peak' during the last lockdown and lurk regularly on here while trying to make sense of the madness.
DH is supportive to a degree but very nervous of me being vocal about my GC views as we are both teachers. I am a middle leader in a secondary school and he worries about me getting sackedConfused
So I can't discuss this much IRL.

Anyway, queing outside Aldi today and saw a woman a few people ahead of me with a 'Woman
Noun
adult human female' tote bag. I was thrilled and as soon as there was an opportunity (by the fruit and vegWink) I told her I liked her bag and that I knew what it meant.
She said I had made her day; I replied I she had made mine. Then she said 'Solidarity sister and see you on the next march'
We went on our separate ways but bloody hell it was brilliant. To vocalise it and be recognised. Felt a bit emotional and even now re-writing it, am a bit teary.

Just wanted to share. It was wonderful.

Try this for an explanation:

EyesOpening · 13/02/2021 18:34

I’m waiting to get mine out in Superdrug, after I’ve used the last of points on a freebie

MoodyMarshall · 13/02/2021 18:34

Hi OP, I'm also a middle leader in a secondary school and GC, giving you a 👋 and a 👊

As a teacher, I'd really recommend you read Irreversible Damage by Abigail Shrier. I've taught children who have gone on to have surgery to 'change sex' as adults, I've always wondered if there was anything I could have done to set them on a less drastic path.

BuntingEllacott · 13/02/2021 18:35

Fab!

What does GC stand for please? Is the G ‘gender’?

user1493494961 · 13/02/2021 18:38

I don't actually know what you're on about (but I will Google).

JaneyHenderson · 13/02/2021 18:38

@EyesOpening

“I was thrilled and as soon as there was an opportunity (by the fruit and vegwink) I told her I liked her bag and that I knew what it meant.” I’m picturing June (OfFred) whispering to another resistance Handmaid in the grocery store
😂😂😂

Margaret Atwood is/was my favourite author. She's not exactly on the GC path though. Makes me sad. I adore her work especially her poetry.

(Outs self as to what subject I teach🙈)

Yay! Right back at you 👊🏻.

I have just finished 'Delusions of Gender' so ready for my next one. Thank you 😀

I wish I saw one in public- I’d feel the same as you! I don’t know anyone really GC like me but most of the women at work (school) are naturally quite gender critical, even if they haven’t connected the dots. I daren’t wear one because of my teens, ridiculous I know but we can’t discuss it anymore.

ValancyRedfern · 13/02/2021 18:41

GC stands for gender critical - we are critical of gender as we don't believe in gender stereotypes or any 'inner essence' which determines gender. Adult human female is simply the dictionary definition of female, but has become controversial as as a lot of people wish to redefine what a woman is.

I am also a GC secondary teacher!

JaneyHenderson · 13/02/2021 18:42

@Wearywithteens

What warms my cockles more is that you’re both teachers - and secondary! I thought all teachers were firmly signed up to the twaw dogma. Brilliant share - thanks OP.
I have never discussed it at work and likely never will. I would like to look in depth at the PSHE curriculum but I would be unable to keep my mouth shut. DH would have kittens.

Secondary TA here!

ValancyRedfern · 13/02/2021 18:42

I have a woman adult human female t shirt but haven't dared wear it out as I live near a very twaw University. I am however 'out' on Facebook and in school. I often get disagreement in public and agreement in private.

InFiveMins · 13/02/2021 18:42

Love it!

Boudicabooandbulldogs · 13/02/2021 18:43

Not been on here in a while, glad I decided to have a look today, am now going to buy one of those bags or the t-shirts.
I’m another teacher, wonder how many of us that are conditioned into not being able to speak about this at work. Perhaps we could all buy the bags/t-shirts.

PCar20 · 13/02/2021 18:46

What does GC mean? Sorry if I’m being ignorant

It must be so difficult for you all with TWAW teens. My DC are only 12, 10 and 4 so trying to sow the seeds early. DD10 was going on about a gender of someone's baby- 'I think you mean sex of the baby DD' Not much but hoping it sticks.

I did discuss it a few years ago with the Head and shared some transgender trend resources with her. She did later try to get rid of me but for entirely different reasons. I have to assume she was GC too or she would have used that as her excuse to get rid of me!

Fantastic! I would be elated too. Sadly my t shirt doesn't fit me at the moment but still have my tote bag. Was wearing an adult human female lanyard at work but was gently warned not to wear it as it is perceived as transphobic.

MoodyMarshall · 13/02/2021 18:50

Hi @Wearywithteens most of the teachers I know have seen with their own eyes autistic teenage girls going down the 'Identify as male' path. Ask any secondary teacher if they've dealt with this and they'll tell you of numerous cases. Ditto social workers and psychologists.

Most of us can spot patterns but it's true that we're limited in terms of being openly critical of the ideology.

tillyandmilly · 13/02/2021 18:51

Don’t get it? What does it mean?

MsTSwift · 13/02/2021 18:52

Also put me in mind of handmaids tale recognising a felllow rebel in the grocery shop 😁❤️.
