The TRAs are jubilant because a person who is neither GC nor a feminist yet is constantly associated with these things has put up a lovely little video (since deleted) where she implores men who carry guns to start using women’s toilets to protect women from transwomen. I don’t even know where to start.

I know I will be shouted down because this person can do nothing wrong in so many peoples eyes, no matter what horrible stuff she comes out with. But this stuff basically pisses on all the hard work done to try to convince politicians and policy makers that this is a legitimate and important cause that is not based on hatred or violence.

I agree with Delphinium, she could do with professional input, although in this case it shouldn't even have been necessary.
I'm only going by the transcript in the photo and I'm not going to watch a clip that has been edited by a malicious individual, but JFC what a stupid thing to say.

Yes that CursedE is extremely nasty and clearly not a friend to women or someone who can be trusted. Unfortunately that doesn't mean that after attacking women 100,000 times falsely there isn't truth this time.

Absolutely nuts asking men with guns into toilets in the USA after what happened in Washington. I imagine she will get a visit on this one, and hope she films it!

What is more of a concern are the comments suggesting this was used to lobby the closed toilet consultation to show GC as extremists. Not helpful!

The Head Girls still crawling round that CursedE are they? It's not quite what PP said though. And I've seen more than enough of CursedE's tweets to ignore anything they have to say. The Rosie Duffield one. Ugh, that one about women's toilets. Loads of them. I've also seen more than enough selfies of TRAs in women's toilets while carrying swords and other weaponry. But now we're supposed to pile on a woman for not actually saying what we're being told she did, which even if she did is in no way comparable to the threats we get. It's all political and purity shite and myself, I'm just not interested.

Transcripts are useful but they do remove tone of voice that could indicate/confirm sarcasm.

Maybe PP is at the point where media training would be useful but she didn't say this sitting next to India Willoughby on This Morning, it's a you tube channel. Do Triggernometry need media training? Does Rose of Dawn? Does Blaire White? I thought the point of YT was more gaining access for those who haven't had a career in the media and being able to have a broader spectrum of options to choose from. Including the conspiracy theory fake news stuff if that's your interest.

I realise it's a form of media obviously but it's not a news channel. PP has some marvellous rants on her channel and sometimes she rambles and gets distracted from her point but comes back to it. Usually she makes good points and I also liked her comments on surrogacy @Delphinium20. That was a good portion of the video that of course has been cut from the video and the conversation.

As she is a special advisor to WOLF now I'm sure they will be talking to her about it and let's face it, men are carrying guns in toilets already in the US. The men's toilets and in the women's. There was that guy with a pink and blue sword in the ladies but also I vaguely remember a photo of a guy with a pistol tucked into his skinny jeans.

(For the record I think it was a misguided joke that wasn't made that clearly but I do think she was talking to 'guys that carry' meaning republicans.)

The TRAs archived the video and its been shared via a 3rd party link gofile.io/d/k53HhC because they thought it would be removed. They were also calling for her to be investigated by the police and Prevent for extremeism and inciting violence.

That would be ironic given the vast swathes of threats of hideous violence and actual violence against women that these activists support and applaud.

I haven’t seen the video but think PP has a great knack for raising consciousness of these things. If the way she said it didn’t come off quite right that will be dragged out time and time again but is the only example they will be able to present - in the same way that one brief comment made by Magdalen is dragged out.

It just goes to show that in the face of so much violence directed towards women, we are held to inhumanly high standards and the tiniest of slips is pounced on, amplified, twisted for max effect and paraded as evidence that justifies their inhuman treatment of us.

If they do try and bring a prosecution there will be a large floodgate opening on our side.

I think Posie is amazing, she works so hard at a personal cost and she is human.

I missed this video. I find KJ excellent when she keeps it short and to the point. The livestream format is really distracting for anyone to run, the best are run with at least another person off screen to help. It makes KJ livestreams end up quite disjointed. I think after covid she probably should get another set of hands in to help so she can stay on point.

Having read the script and watched the segment, I think she was pointing out that rather than carry guns, showing how easy it is to access women’s spaces with self id is an effective way to protect.

Being a human individual and not part of a hive mind, I don’t always agree with KJ. I do agree that she is brave and she gets in and does things. She is great a getting the message across (perhaps not quite in this instance).

Well I understood the gist of what she was saying but then I’m British and have been brought up on irony and sarcasm. If you want to attack PP then of course you will interpret it differently.

I expect it will be used as another stick to beat her anyway.

It is unpleasant to see Ruth Serwotka cosying up to CursedE against PP; no wonder women are stepping away from the left in droves. But brave of Keira Bell to stand with PP.

I can find something to agree with and disagree with with every woman and every group involved in fighting for our rights, but friendly fire like this leave a bad taste.

My priority is women; all women. Even the ones I disagree with and don’t like.

True. Though she seems to have pulled the video which suggests she thought better of it, or was concerned at how people would interpret it on reflection. Very close to the edge that one. But she pulls no punches!

She started with a slight disclaimer as though it was an absurdist thought experiment. Unfortunately it didn't work. It's a bit like the Jo Brand joke about throw battery acid not milkshake. I really hope she apologises. It's the only way to go.

I watched the clip and 'men who carry' was the expression used. Have to say that went right over my head at the time, as the point was more like, 'come on men get in the women's toilets & say you're women now', like doing the Man Friday stunt backwards...which doesn't really work in my mind but the gist was about showing up TRA ideology not 'protecting' women in bathrooms.

Yes, it seems to be a suggestion to men who care about women's safety to do Man Friday type stunts.

She's not saying that men should go into women's toilets (with or without guns) to protect women. She's saying that the only way to get across the absurdity of self ID is for lots of men to start self IDing as women.

There are a few problems with this. One is that this has to be explained carefully to avoid misinterpretation (as Posie has discovered). Another is that the 'wrong' sort of men will be all too eager to take part. And another is that this is likely to frighten some women, and make others uncomfortable, which is counterproductive.
