This is excellent news. Is it in the public domain who nominated her? If it's the Tories I would say they're making a very clear mark in the sand doing this. She's only been a professor for two or three years, so it's not marking the end of a long career. It therefore looks to me that it's awarded because of the work she's been doing on academic freedoms and freedom of thought/speech. Am I being unduly optimistic?

Also, if you'd told me a few years ago that in 2020 the Tories would be the only mainstream political party taking decisive action to support women's sex-based rights I'd have laughed derisively for a long time, and I'd have been wrong. How incredibly depressing, given they're that the only major party I've never voted for and never will.
