What is "Girl Mode"

A non question for actual women. What is "girl mode"?
To me it's a very youth orientated fetishy definition which feels a bit like My Little Pony.

I stopped calling myself a girl at the point I hit around 20 I think. I dont think of myself as a girl, I think of myself as a woman, especially once I had children.

I think it's odd to describe yourself as a girl if you are a middle aged man. I'm trying to imagine an older woman describing herself as being in "boy mode" and all I can think of is Jimmy Krankee.

Yeah I bet 'boy mode' at work and 'girl mode' at home is not uncommon Hmm

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 30/12/2020 19:01

I won’t click on the link as I’ve not had my dinner yet... does it mention their... ‘close’ relationship with mom and pop? 🤢 How social services haven’t come for their daughter I’ll never know.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 30/12/2020 19:06

So that is girl mode... (and also a worry).

So the one who is shouting girl mode at the minute needs to come and sit on the haggard, frazzled, old looking mess on the bench next to me.

ArabellaScott · 30/12/2020 19:07

I recommend not going to check out Stephonknee's youtube channel, btw.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 30/12/2020 19:09

No don’t check it out. It’s actually worse than you are imagining right now...

scentedgeranium · 01/01/2021 18:06

As my midwife so touchingly observed after examining my post partum stitches 'You'll never be a girl again you know'. Cue tears from me and then the quick realisation that I needed to man up.
Girl mode Angry

MrsSteveMcDonald · 01/01/2021 18:20

I get the impression that it means prancing around with swishy skirts and pink sparkles while head tilting and doing a tinkly giggle. You then get your cock out and wank furiously

DrizzleandDamp · 01/01/2021 19:58

“Steph On Knee” that article says, so a young girl on her knees. Sick sick sick. And what child do you know that dresses in a push up bra? I want off the planet.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 01/01/2021 20:11

That’s not the most unpleasant part of this story. How social services aren’t involved (the ‘parents’ have a little girl).

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 02/01/2021 14:32

I see "girl mode" as a way of trying to convince people not immersed in (or have given much critical thought to) this ideology that once a man declares he is trans, women needn't feel that sense of trepidation we would if a man is in our single sex spaces. He's in girl mode, of course he wouldn't do anything untoward, lewd, or violent! Confused It's why the TWAW mantra is so central to their activism... we (women) must not see them as male because we have deeply imbedded cautions around men we don't know in places where we might be vulnerable. Compelling and demanding we call them fully fledged women is an attempt to get our guard down, and they call us bigots for noncompliance because they know another huge part of female socialization is kindness and acquiescence.

They hate those of us who aren't having any of it.

CranberriesChoccyAgain · 02/01/2021 14:54

[quote ArabellaScott]I presume Stephonknee is the epitome of 'girl mode'.

I cannot imagine many genuine transgender people (those with diagnosed dysphoria and not indulging in a fetish) sympathizing with that. Acceptance without exception, eh Stonewall?

ArabellaScott · 02/01/2021 15:36

Well, the trouble is that many TRAs argue that there is no such thing as a fetish involved in the whole business. So by Stonewall logic (and self ID) Stephonknee is completely as legitimate as any other transwoman.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 02/01/2021 15:44

Don’t they advise the government too?

ChattyLion · 02/01/2021 15:48

‘Girl mode’ as a concept is a load of sexist, creepy, age-related boundary-pushing old shit unless you are actually female and under 18. Even then it can mean anything that a girl wishes it to mean.

Eddie Izzard will never be young or female however much he wishes it though. Sorry.

There’s many disappointments in most of our lives about unchangeable things, but if this is the worst of them and you also have the advantages Izzard possesses in life, then generally speaking you’re a very lucky person indeed.

Puzzledtenant · 02/01/2021 15:51

'Girl mode', or woman mode as makes more sense, to me, is being a survivor of domestic abuse, survivor of rape, having long term (though luckily not severe) body damage from childbirth, agonising periods most months, risk of cervical cancer and experiencing regular misogyny - haven't seen a transperson/non binary etc that actual wants any of those in their 'girl mode' though! Funny that.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 02/01/2021 16:19

My girl mode it broken today. It’s freezing so I am wearing chunky ‘men’s’ clothes, fixed the cupboard door, drained the washing machine, and been swearing like a trooper.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 16:33

Is your user name now Bruce then? Grin

Hope you remembered to top up your testosterone in your builder’s tea and showed your bum as you bent in front of the washer.

Goodness, this flipping modes lark is a doddle. Wink

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 02/01/2021 16:35

Derek or Brad. What’s a good ‘boy’ name?

EdgeOfACoin · 02/01/2021 16:38

Andrew. Means 'manly'.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 16:40

Not sure. I think you are more of a Derek though. Dependable. Handy. (In a handyman sense re bending in front of the washer)

Brad sounds more handsy. As in he would take more pleasure in bending someone over the washer rather than draining it.

Crikey. A modey minefield and not the doddle I thought....

HecatesCats · 02/01/2021 16:52

I've spent a lot of time on the toilet today, just musing, maybe avoiding stuff. Definitely in 'man mode' 🧔

Puzzledtenant · 02/01/2021 17:34

Oooh, didn't realise it was so easy! Have spent most of today doing flat pack furniture and letting my arse hang out, if I stay in boy mode for the next few days I can avoid my period coming?

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 02/01/2021 17:41

No. Your period will still come.

Sadly thought and deed isn’t quite enough to flip into boy or man mode.

I’m fairly sure that aiming towards a urinal would not only be futile but will make my outside lower womanly person fairly wet. Hmm

EarthSight · 02/01/2021 17:51

Don't know. What would be 'boy mode' for us?

The 'girl mode' wording conjures up images of Power Rangers.
