@Pluckedpencil

Is there a way to submit a FOI request on how many complaints the BBC has received about transgenderism bias?

It's pretty simple to submit a FOI request. Just word it carefully as response can be quite pedantic.

If you do, bear in mind some people (me!) might have submitted a comment instead of a complaint, so it's maybe worth asking about comments as well as complaints.

This is what is says on the bbc site. Like other organisations we have fewer staff working normally. To help we ask if you can instead send us a comment which will be circulated to staff tomorrow, unless it is essential to complain. We would appreciate your understanding that we may currently be unable to respond within normal service times.

Apparently actor/activist David Paisley has a contact at the BBC who told him that the level of complaints about this article was higher than the positive letters so is now encouraging more letters praising it to be sent.

Doesn't make any difference to the accuracy of the article, the standing of the experts quoted or whether they followed guidelines on reporting suicides.

It's not Pop Idol.

It's not Pop Idol.

Same reaction after the GRA consultation response was announced: 'but the majority of votes were in favour!'

Well, yes. But it wasn't a referendum, it was a consultation. One response raising a serious issue can still carry more weight than 10,000 identikit Stonewall templates.

None of the wokesters screeching furiously on Twitter or Reddit could get their heads round it.

@Typesofcatalogue

Datun for the transsexual it’s more about being perceived as that sex. ‘Living as a woman’ means being perceived to be a woman’. Some are more pragmatic about it than others and integrate their pasts into their present. Some don’t .

Going into the men’s toilet in public is not living as a woman for example. (Emergencies/ child care excepted).

It's not about perception though is it? Most transwomen don't pass. It's about compelling others to comply.

Other than pronouns, how does one do this?

A male individual compelling others to use female pronouns is not the definition of a woman. It's not 'living as a woman'.

Women are real. Seriously. We're not some ethereal, unknown entity to be utilised.

OldCrone · 25/12/2020 02:33

‘Living as a woman’ means being perceived to be a woman’.

So this would mean that you can only 'live as a woman' when other people are present. So it's not so much something that you do as something that other people observe you doing.

This makes it seem as though 'living as a woman' is a performance which requires an audience. What happens to the man who is 'living as a woman' when he is alone? Does he cease to exist or does he revert to being a man?

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 25/12/2020 10:14

And what if you aren’t ‘perceived’?

PlantMam · 25/12/2020 10:27

I suspect this is why so many adolescent girls desisted over lockdown - no audience to perform gender to.

There was the very telling whinge from a TRA/TW who was so devastated that lockdown meant they weren't able to go out and get the necessary validation from others by using female single sex facilities.

In fact, rather than something you do, it's something that other people do.
