I'm very sad about Eddie, not his pronouns but the disrespect of women and am now sure (rather than suspected) that men parody women because they despise us and I'd like to bet that's been said plenty of times on here.

I too lost all my respect for Izzard when I heard that bit from the autobiography when it was book of the week on radio 4. I was cooking or cleaning or something and it was on in the background and I thought I must have misheard. Surely a tall 23 year old obviously male person who freaked out some young girls by using the ladies toilets wasn't painting themselves as the victim? I had to listen again because I was so gobsmacked.

I think that tells you everything you need to know about people born male who say they identify as women.

Probably because we don't all think alike on this? I have never understood why so much energy is expended on here worrying about what lunatics on Twitter are saying. The TRA constituent on there seems to consist almost entirely of MRAs, people with obvious mental health issues, teenagers who hate mummy (in which I include some people in their 20s who have evidently moved beyond that stage of life), and bots.

But actually, it's always been about sexuality. For Eddie and for the old-skool transsexuals, when those cleared for transition were essentially homosexual males who wished to pass as straight women.

Eddie never hid the fact that Eddie's preferred orientation-label was the highly homophobic and misogynistic "male lesbian". All that's changed is society has encouraged Eddie to drop the "male" from the label.

What's happened is that orientation-identities have been redesignated; they are now to be understood as gender-identities.

There's a fair argument to make that 'lesbian' is an identity-label - but it's only open to female homosexuals.

A 58 year old woman may well still be menopausal and may still be prescribed HRT. Let's see if Eddie spends any of this publicity campaigning to challenge the dreadful HRT shortages (not Covid or Brexit related) that women have been enduring. Shortages that simply would not have occurred if the medication was for men.

I wonder if Eddie's girl mode includes all the Christmas prep and mental load?

I watched the PAOTY and started a thread on Izard as a result.
He had obviously asked (demanded?) to be referred to as she / her and I wondered if he had at all considered whether he people he asked to do this would be comfortable with it and would he even care?
The good thing about that programme was that he obviously hated the portraits of him and could not hide his disgust.
Made me giggle.

Thanks for the additional info @ThinkWittyThoughts, TBH I watched 20 minutes then fast forwarded to the end as I couldn’t bear Eddie’s Smuggy McSmugface.

I knew Eddie when Eddie was a compère at Screaming Blue Murder comedy club in Hampton Wick. Eddie of the past was a legend when he was comfortable in his own clothes.

I wonder what Dennis Pennis would say to Eddie Izzard?
